Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

the cat Yes. I can’t bear thinking about the future. Thinking about how stupid and selfish so many people are. I feel like my insides are squeezing the life and joy out of me whilst reading about and watching and listening and thinking about these vile evil Tory leaders we are being crushed by.

Every day feels painful at the moment but when I step away it’s all suddenly ok.

Maybe we’re just torturing ourselves?! I’ll still vote to get us out of this mess and do whatever else I can.

Canvassing today and talking to people I realised even more that what will be will be. People are so polarised and stuck. We have to move through this and I honestly believe it’s a journey for the UK to eventually purge itself of all this rot.

But we have to go through this to get to the other side.

We're going to have a fantastic break, very soon, Dusty.

And whatever happens, we can just ... let go.

And perhaps we can find some group that has as its aim the 'getting through/past' this awfulness.

Ideally, this group will meet in a cafe and involve conversation and cake. As well as positive plans.

That's my hope, anyway.

GeistohneGrenzen Thank you.
Here's your bunch, Honey-person: 💐

People'sVote are now direct mailing people on their mailing list with candidate recommendations for a Remain tactical vote.

Sadly, I can't share on Twitter. But if you are signed up to PV (or BestforBritain, etc) do share with family and friends.

(And, yes, I do know the limitations , in that they don't always agree ... which is insanely frustrating).

HoneyandSpice · 28/11/2019 20:13

Flowers to everyone feeling jaded. Mostly to Squid. But to all where we feel helpless regarding our kids' future. I'm absolutely terrified of the future. Don't want to let go of my DD. She's only 8 yrs old. My friend died suddenly. Aged 36. No explanation. Her daughter is in my class. I also knew the late Gary Rhodes very well.
My GP of many decades walked away after the last election result. He warned me of this. My best friend is an ex GP and a centrist. You'll have to go a long way to find a Tory Dr / NHS worker.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 20:24

I'm very sorry about your friend. How very sad. Thanks

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 20:25

I reckon the polls will have Johnson winning tonights debate Hmm

HoneyandSpice · 28/11/2019 20:27

Thanks @bellinisurge and I'm sorry for the way this thread has turned in the last few days. We should be pulling together.

tobee · 28/11/2019 20:29

Hello what time is the debate please?

ArseDarkly · 28/11/2019 20:31

Think it was on at 7 tobee

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2019 20:32

I'm watching it on channel 4 plus one or whatever it's called.

ArseDarkly · 28/11/2019 20:33

halfway through on the +1

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2019 20:33

I'm very sorry HoneyandSpice you must be feeling sledgehammered by the news.

thecatfromjapan · 28/11/2019 20:33

Goodness.

People are now begging Labour and the LibDems to work together against Johnson.

Westminstenders: Massive Rightwing Plot?
HoneyandSpice · 28/11/2019 20:37

@OhYouBadBadKitten it's been a very difficult couple of days. Hard to take in. Makes politics seem trivial at times, briefly. But still feeling invigorated. Because we have to. We have to push on. No matter how much we are grieving.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2019 20:37

and so we should.

GeistohneGrenzen · 28/11/2019 20:37

Thank you for my flowers thecat and for that part of your message above to dusty . The shadow and smudge of this thing seems to touch most minutes of my waking day. I need to hold the thought of a time when we can 'let go' more often in my mind.

ArseDarkly · 28/11/2019 20:38

When did it become a thing that everyone has to stand up through these tv debates? Why not get some comfy chairs in and some tea/coffee/ biscuits and be a bit civilised fgs??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2019 20:38

xpost. Sorry Honey! Good. Keep up that courageous spirit that you have.

thecatfromjapan · 28/11/2019 20:38

Thanks@HoneyandSpice.

Sweetheart. ❤️

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 20:41

So sorry, Honey. It’s a terrible time to get bad news. 💐

pointythings · 28/11/2019 20:41

Meanwhile kudos to Channel 4 for not allowing the Gove substitution and instead replacing BoJo with a melting ice sculpture. What a pathetic cowardly piece of work he is.

pointythings · 28/11/2019 20:42

Honey what a horrible shock... Flowers to you, hug your DD lots.

tobee · 28/11/2019 20:44

What happened with the debate, please? How did it go with the ice sculpture and everything? Sorry to be a pain.

HoneyandSpice · 28/11/2019 20:45

Thank you so much to @thecatfromjapan and @Alsohuman. Both of your contributions to this thread, and others have kept me going more than you will ever know Flowers

tobee · 28/11/2019 20:45

Honey so sorry about your friend. Thanks
