Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

I haven't rubbished it. So nice that I made you smile @ArseDarkly .Hmm

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 12:57

OT but what's the rule about TAAT?

It's been brought to my attention by another user that someone has been posting about me on another Brexit thread that I haven't posted in. I object to that; if someone has an issue with what I say, they can quote it on here and I'll respond.

Can I report that?

ArseDarkly · 28/11/2019 12:59

I haven't rubbished it. So nice that I made you smile @ArseDarkly**

And what is your opinion on Jewish Voice for Labour?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 13:00

My opinion is that they are entitled to their views but it doesn't change mine.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 13:08

So correct me if I'm wrong bellini, in your opinion Corbyn specifically and the broader Labour party are anti-semitic and nothing can change your opinion on that? I'm sorry if Ive got something wrong there

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 13:11

I’d report it @Mistigri, that’s a pretty low thing to do.

cloudydaysinnovember · 28/11/2019 13:12

But the fact that a minority of the voting population can bring all this shit down on everyone else just makes me want to scream and throw things

Oh I know:-(. But for the sake of my mental health i have to just accept that is our shitty, unrepresentative political system.
I'm trying so hard to get my head round it all before 12th December so I'm mentally prepared.

I've got 4 kids 13 and under and I could just sob at the damage that is being and will be done to their futures

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 13:13

You have it right. That doesn't mean I think other people can't think differently.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 13:15

Although, tbf , I would say that Momentum is antisemitic and they have taken over the Labour Party.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 13:15

Thanks alsohuman x

ArseDarkly · 28/11/2019 13:17

That doesn't mean I think other people can't think differently. Although, tbf , I would say that Momentum is antisemitic and they have taken over the Labour Party

That would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 13:17

Can I ask why you feel that bellini? Theyve never been anti-semitic in all the literature theyve sent my way

TatianaLarina · 28/11/2019 13:20

I’m really not comfortable with the way bellini is being treated.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 13:21

I think at some point people just have to agree with disagree tbh.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 13:23

Agree to disagree ffs ... bloody autocorrect!

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 13:23

All the examples of Corbyn's "accidental antisemitism " and indulging people like Chris Williamson and all the platforms he's shared with real bastards isn't enough for you.
Frankly it was his face at the launch of Chakrabati's "report" into antisemitism when some git had a go at Luciana Berger. Chakrabati had tbe good grace to look horrified. He just stood there and let it go on. Had he said "Comrades, we have strong debates in this party but there is no room for that", I would have grudgingly respected it. He didn't. He stood by and watched a Jewish woman endure some pretty horrible stuff.

lonelyplanetmum · 28/11/2019 13:23

I know Im not following the thread.. and am interjecting with random thoughts but I but no-one commenting about where we are with Cummings. I know he was having an op and wouldn't wish that on anyone but has his fixed term contract ended now and he is unemployed? Or are we still paying for him out of our taxes?

I just like to keep an eye on the masterminds behind all this mess. Despite his classical quips, I don't see the Prime Minister as a Master Mind and so like to keep track of who is in charge at the ministry of manipulation.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 13:24

Thank you @TatianaLarina

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 13:24

I'm asking questions and making sure that I dont misrepresent her, bellini if im being in anyway disrespectful please tell me and if I have been dismissive or disrespectful Im wholeheartedly sorry

Greykitten · 28/11/2019 13:29

.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 13:31

Absolutely he should have spoken out bellini I agree with you.

The Chris Williamson stuff I cant say I can comment on at because I'm not Jewish and therefore cant gauge the comment he made about Labour being too aplogetic of the anti semitism crisis from a Jewish perspective, I know he was investigated, reinstated and then expelled due to I'm not sure whether it was outcry from the membership, PLP or the press, sorry for my lack of knowlege on that

I'm not sure what all that had to do with Momentum though, unless you mean just by their support of Corbyn makes them anti-semitic? Which I can understand considering how you already feel about the situation

Thanks for being so patient with me bellini Flowers

TheElementsSong · 28/11/2019 13:33

Apropos of nothing, my Labour MP (well, candidate, to be accurate) is Jewish. I haven't yet decided whether to vote LD or Labour, but I wonder whether voting for my candidate is anti-semitic, or not voting for him is anti-semitic 🤔

lonelyplanetmum · 28/11/2019 13:33

Also as a distraction from above posts has anyone else noticed that the "MN Campaign: 4/10 women taking HRT affected by shortage" appears at the top of the Brexit list of threads?

Funny that. I thought the new ERG/Tory party position was that Brexit has not affected, and will not affect medicines?

I get confused -is the party line:

  1. that there will be no impact at all or
  2. that there will be an impact on some in society (but if it were you or me we would find a way to survive so its down to fate)?

I think I prefer 2 because I find it very hard to believe that there will be no disruption to supply chains, no changes of Pharma companies, no cost changes, no lower (US) quality control standards, no cost implications due to the fall in the pound,no changes to EU funded UK research and collaboration etc.

ElenadeClermont · 28/11/2019 13:37

I do not have time to post regularly, but I share bellini's concerns about antisemitism in the Labour party.

Peregrina · 28/11/2019 13:38

The vagaries of FPTP might mean a working Conservative majority but it does not mean that a majority of the electorate will have voted for them.

But with a large majority, Johnson would do as he liked. It's only when they have very slender majorities, which they are in danger of losing, that they have to remember that the electorate might not agree with them.
