Westminstenders: Massive Rightwing Plot?

Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

Its sensible in that there wont be ERG types/disaster capitalists negotiating.

Also you cant give Corbyn a 'kicking' by voting Leave/Remain if he remains neutral unlike the 2016 ref were some voted to give Cameron and Osbourne a kicking

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:09

@GhostofFrankGrimes , I haven't. Although a decent Labour leader like say, Yvette Cooper, would kick these Tory twats into touch rather than wasting time scaring the shit out of the Jewish community.

derxa · 28/11/2019 11:10

It really isn’t. Labour offers a choice between a soft Brexit and Remain, based on another referendum. I honestly have no idea why people struggle to understand it. I understand it but Labour have failed to understand that some Labour voters want a hard Brexit. The referendum is not really a choice at all.

Osman is right apart from his last sentence. They are not all open about it. Johnson goes around hospitals pretending to love the NHS. As is frequently reported the consultants and most nurses refuse to meet him.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 11:12

How exactly would they kick them into touch and what exactly does that mean? Keeping in mind the media bias and that PMs questions is merely a circus.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 11:12

Although a decent Labour leader like say, Yvette Cooper

Who was so decent she couldnt even come 2nd in the leadership election Hmm

Let me guess bellini the wrong Milliband won right?

lmfao

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:13

Remind me how successful Ed Milliband and Jeremy Corbyn have been?

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 11:14

If Labour voters want a hard Brexit, they’re going to have to vote Tory and live with the shitshow that accompanies it. They can’t have it all ways, it doesn’t work like that.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 11:16

If Milliband had won we wouldn't be in this shit. And I wasnt exactly a massive fan of his.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:17

But he didn't. And we are.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 11:18

Just I didn't vote for Labour in 2015 because the 'wrong' Milliband one. I could not see him as PM.

I did vote for JC in 2017 but it was an anti tory vote as this one will be too.

You may be happy with Labour as it is - I am not - it's too far left for me.

I'm not a party member but I am the type of voter you need to win over to win an election.

As things stand I WILL NOT vote for Labour next election.

This is where it all started to unravel. Poor Margaret Beckett

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 11:18

Ghost if Ed had been allowed some space to push what he thought were good policies he would have done much better but of course the Blairite/right of the PLP came up with the Torylite manifesto, Ed got screwed

Random18 · 28/11/2019 11:18

*won

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 11:19

As things stand I WILL NOT vote for Labour next election.

which of their policies do you object to?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:20

Again. He didn't win. Corbyn didn't win. Who's fault is that?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 11:20

Yes here we are arguing about things that cannot be. Like bespoke manifestos for every household. You work with what you have.

Peregrina · 28/11/2019 11:21

I am originally from the North East, ex mining community and visit there often, I've said on here before people underestimate the fury people feel at the thought of their vote being overturned.

Violetparis, I think this was your post from a few pages back. How do you think they will feel after another 5 years of Tory government, when they don't see any Brexit bonus?

Another question - are you mostly taking the opinion of older people? What about the younger ones?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:22

You work with what you have and what Labour have is a leader who is crap at leading, some marmite policies and nothing useful to offer on Brexit.

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 11:25

And yet the only thing preventing you from voting Labour is “a local issue”. You change like the wind @bellinisurge. I’m beginning to think spoiling your paper is very wise.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 11:25

I'll take Corbyn over more Tory austerity and dismantling of public services. I'm not interested in personality politics.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 11:25

You're so right bellini why on earth was I questioning your sage like wisdom, shame on me

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 11:27

No, there are two things preventing me from voting Labour. One is the local issue (thanks for dismissing its importance to voters here), and the other is Corbyn.
I can hold my nose for one but not two things.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 11:28

That should be next election after this one.

I do not agree with privatising BT. I have concerns about all the renationalisation.

I do not agree with their policy for WASPI woman.

They are wanting to spend too much money. Whilst we do need to sort things out we need to do it in a sensible way and not just through money at the problem.

I am not sure about scrapping Ofsted. It has many faults but I would need to understand more. My kids go to an academy and it has benefited from being an academy.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 11:30

Also that is unfair.

Bellini has very good reasons for not voting Labour. And she has explained them many times.

A good constituency MP is incredibly important. I don't have one and the local area suffers for it.
