Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

@Piggywaspushed

Think it was Robert Buckland? He’s Lord Chancellor / Secretary of State for Justice.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/11/2019 08:57

I'm Jewish. I'm voting Labour.

Wonder if Johnson will actually do an interview with Andrew Neil when he thinks it’s the optimum time?

Those people who respond well to Bollocks to Brexit and Guy Verhofstadt are already very likely in the 13-15% going to vote LD. The LDs message needs to be focussed on the waverers not playing to the gallery.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 09:04

Francine he has appeared in court for attempted rape and lots of other charges. Many alleged crimes occured when he was First Minister.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 09:06

Francine is just trolling for a reaction. You ought to be able to spot this a mile off by now!

TheElementsSong · 28/11/2019 09:07

I'm not especially depressed by yesterday's various seat predictions, because I expected the polls would forecast a large BlowJob Conservative majority. I also expect that there will actually be a large BlowJob Conservative majority on Dec 13th. This is "bears shit in the woods" stuff, albeit with occasional "wow, that's a really stinky shit" 💩

I was depressed in 2016, when the British electorate showed us who they were (as per that famous MN saying). Nothing since then, despite glimmers here and there, has significantly challenged my observation.

Piggywaspushed · 28/11/2019 09:07

francine are you joking??

Piggywaspushed · 28/11/2019 09:08

Thanks continuity

DGRossetti · 28/11/2019 09:09

I think the YouGov poll is a lot more about YouGov than the actual issues. Personal opinion, but commercial entity gets free advertising is always a factor in these things. Especially after I heard their spokesperson on the radio this morning spending more time on caveats than the actual results.

TheElementsSong · 28/11/2019 09:10

Oh FFS, I would expect posters to recognise the familiar wind-up-merchant style of the new fishy shit-stirrer name-changer (and probably oft-PBP). Even the sentence structure is the same.🙄

prettybird · 28/11/2019 09:10

Any true Scot would know that Nicola Sturgeon is far more effective at engaging with the Scottish electorate.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 09:10

Misti well that's low even for a troll.

Random18 · 28/11/2019 09:11

Element for some strange reason I don't go troll hunting.........

Random18 · 28/11/2019 09:16

And why do people feel the need to make nasty or patronising comments?

We don't need trolls on here. We've got enough bitchiness just with regular posters.

TheElementsSong · 28/11/2019 09:17

Not hunting Random - just ignoring obvious WUMs with familiar posting styles Wink If it helps, imagine it's BlowJob, naked, doing helicopter willy in your face Grin

Folks, Just discovered this thread and it prompted me to look up the day after cameron's victory in 2015 - here's my post from May 2015:

"It's a dark day but Cameron has a lot of stormy waters ahead - EU referendum, slim majority, Tory backbenchers desperate to get out of Europe, SNP block voting, the truth about the poor economic recovery emerging etc etc etc.

Have a weep and a glass of wine but then sit back and watch the fun over the next few months.

I grew up under Thatcher - it's survivable smile"

Was I prophetic or what??!! :)

prettybird · 28/11/2019 09:20

I have a strong suspicion that that poster just disingenuously Hmmwanted someone to point out why that particular politician wasn't more actively involved in campaigning: an objective he or she achieved Hmm

squid4 · 28/11/2019 09:23

Don't despair.
There have been lots of polls in the last week with big movements to labour, but (unsurprisingly) only the one with the big tory majority makes the headlines and brings the thread trolls out.
In fact, that yougov poll is pretty out of date now as it was conducted over a long period of time. If you look at the raw data itmoves to Labour every single day, including the day the rightwing media vomited whatever they could think of all over Corbyn in panic.
Some activists on the ground (depends on the area) say things are much more positive than national polls suggest
Yougov are still weighting for a low youth turnout
The raw data before age weighting says labour and tory neck and neck.
They are trying to demoralise you
Young people are going to vote like never before. AND the climate debates haven't even started yet. That NHS document I haven't had the chance to go through it all yet, but there is a bit that bans the UK from addressing climate concerns. The Tories are literally going to facilitate the end of the world for cash, and media smears aren't working on the younger crowd.

We might get some game changers before the election. The russian report. I've heard news of a BBC whistleblower trying to gather their courage

I get the despair, I haven't slept in weeks, I have palpitations and chest pain at work now, I'm not on the poverty line or going to truly suffer, but I'm probably going to quit my job in thenew year if this goes as the media says it will. But I don't really believe it.

Keep going x
