The Brexit Party aren't doing one.

The Labour Party apparently can't afford theirs.

The Conservatives will just lie anyway.

And the LDs got upstaged by Prince Andrew's resignation from royal duties for being a fuckwit.

3 weeks to go...

I’d love to think Gove (and by default his Poundshop Lady Macbeth’s hopes and dreams) might be in jeopardy, but head is still ruling heart.

Still ... never give up hope.

Zxyzoey31 · 24/11/2019 19:56

The Sunday Times have a poll which says a comfortable Tory majority but 7 almost all hard brexiteers likely to lose their seats: IDS, Redwood, Zac Goldsmith, Raab, Steve Baker and Philip Davies.

Mistigri · 24/11/2019 19:57

I'm very much in the head over heart camp but the idea of Gove being deposed is just too delicious. What a vile man he is and how I will laugh if he has his own Portillo moment (they are similar politicians in many ways).

Apileofballyhoo · 24/11/2019 20:00

cat that story about the couple is so heartening.
Piggywaspushed did you ever do the political compass quiz? And do you have a link to the one you just did?

ContinuityError · 24/11/2019 20:01

Zxyzoey31

I saw that reported in the Irish Timex too - Goldsmith pretty much a definite, Baker, IDS and Deadwood hanging in the balance, Raab with a massively cut majority and even Johnson at risk with a high turnout and tactical voting.

Mistigri · 24/11/2019 20:03

It doesn't say that unfortunately ... it implies that they are "in danger" but the numbers do not really stack up.

Goldsmith will lose (good riddance), it's squeaky bum time for Raab and IDS, but the others look safe enough.

YeOldeTrout · 24/11/2019 20:03

oh FFS, I actually like 2 of the BxP's 'contract' points. Sigh.

Gosh that 'I side with' quiz is very blatently American, trying to promote political issues that are hot over there & often make no sense in the UK context. Whistleblowers, charter schools, Armed teachers? Even my gun nut American cousins aren't all in favour of armed teachers.

And it's out of date, no BxP policies, refers to UKIP instead.

hey are similar politicians in many ways

I have to say I like Michael Portillo and his train journey show.

The one thing I can say is that election night is going to be very very interesting. It's going to be great with MN.

Zxyzoey31 · 24/11/2019 20:07

It interests me because it seems the strategy to turn Midlands seats and maybe northern seats has worked for the Torys but I don't know if they factored in losses in safe South East seats and thought they would still win. If anybody had info on that I would be interested. A policy of accepting losing safe seats and hoping to substitute these for ones you haven't won before is high risk.

Zxyzoey31 · 24/11/2019 20:11

You are right it says in danger of losing their seats and a potential career ending nightmare. I was interrupted by a small person when posting so hurried through with it.

ContinuityError · 24/11/2019 20:13

Didn’t Johnson say “Guildford will have to go”?

Piggywaspushed · 24/11/2019 20:13

Charter Schools are a thing here or there are those that want them. I didn't get as far as the armed teachers!

Will try political compass!

Zxyzoey31 · 24/11/2019 20:15

It also says Raab and IDS 'look to be in very serious jeopardy'.

Mistigri · 24/11/2019 20:15

I'm relatively resigned to a Tory win but I am still looking forward to some big names falling, maybe including some we aren't expecting.

I'm going to keep feeding my Uxbridge and Surrey Heath unicorns...

FadingStar · 24/11/2019 20:16

Would love to see IDS out on his ear. I worked with him briefly some years ago...my skin is still crawling.

Mistigri · 24/11/2019 20:16

Charter Schools are a thing here

Don't we just call them Free Schools?

thecatfromjapan · 24/11/2019 20:21

APileofBallyhoo 🙂 Yes. I was quite emotional, I have to admit.

I was carrying cake (again!) and very nearly gave it to them.

(Then remembered the slightly poorly daughter at home & gave them many good wishes instead. )

Zxyzoey31 · 24/11/2019 20:33

Gosh Gove had a 25k majority in 2017 according to wiki, it is hard to imagine that going.

thecatfromjapan · 24/11/2019 20:38

From Twitter:

Alastair Campbell
@campbellclaret

'Fascinating few hours with @schooltruth out canvassing for @lucianaberger in Finchley and Golders Green. I know @UKLabour second last time but the anti-Semitism and general views re Corbyn mean she is the best placed pre @peoplesvote_uk candidate.'

One of the advantages of no longer being a member of Labour, I guess: he can openly support tactical voting.

thecatfromjapan · 24/11/2019 20:42

And the Guardian reporting that businesses are not skipping for joy about the Tory manifesto.

Because Brexit is bad for business.

Surprise.

But I'm guessing that won't be splashed across the Daily Mail front page on Monday.

PMK

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/11/2019 20:51

Lib dems got 3000 odd votes in Golders Green last time. Tory vote was over 20k. Good luck there.

CendrillonSings · 24/11/2019 20:54

But I'm guessing that won't be splashed across the Daily Mail front page on Monday.

Probably because however much some businesses might dislike Brexit, they would dislike being nationalised, having their shares confiscated and their taxes hiked even more. Not to mention having to operate in an economy where secondary strike action a la McDonnell was the norm.
