There are signs that traditional party alignment might well have broken.

The Tories have split, labour are pretending they have not.

The pattern so far seems to be closely following the EU. This favours a Tory majority.

A long way to go.

Labour unlike any other party currently are trying to represent everyone in the 52/48

Translated into English: they’re trying not to lose 50% of their voters by lying to 100% of them.

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:07

@JustAnotherPoster00 , that scum article is from 2013. Equal marriage is law now. Only primary legislation can overturn it. Not happening.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:08

They’re not trying to represent Jewish voters who have deserted them in droves.

Are these the same Jewish voters who left under Milliband, what changed between Milliband and Corbyn for them to rechange their mind?

Jo Swinsons Tatiana - Libdems - fuck the 52% Tories - Fuck the 48%

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:10

Jewish voters not worth bothering with, eh @JustAnotherPoster00 ? Confused

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:10

Equal marriage is law now.

Thankfully

So a party thats been in power since 2010 and thats the only thing you could come up with, nevermind as to my confusion as wtf did that have to do with the current conversation?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:12

Jewish voters not worth bothering with, eh @JustAnotherPoster00 ? confused

Accusing me of something?

What do you say to those people who are Jewish and are planning on voting Labour this time bellini?

What do you say to the Jewish members of the PLP bellini?

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:13

Why do you think I give a shit about the Tories just because I hate Corbyn. And, frankly, you were the one going on about how the Tories hate equal marriage.
It's about the only positive thing you can say about them.

ContinuityError · 10/11/2019 12:14

Veterans demand Tory minister apologises for calling white poppies 'attention seeking rubbish'

When I first heard this on the news I thought they said they were going to chuck white puppies over the cliffs of Dover.

Which did seem a little harsh (unless each puppy was going to have its own tiny parachute, which would truly have been something to behold).

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:15

It's up Jewish voters to make their own decisions. If you want to deny antisemitism in the Labour Party , go ahead. I don't care. I know what I see and hear. And trying to line me or any other Corbyn hater up with the Tories is a waste of time.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:16

Which did seem a little harsh (unless each puppy was going to have its own tiny parachute, which would truly have been something to behold).

With little cute red berets, that would make my heart explode out of sheer joy, cough cough, as you were, and I didnt say that

Alsohuman · 10/11/2019 12:16

Can we please stop this? These threads have been brilliant because they’ve been measured and civilised, even when we disagree. The way this is going it might as well be AIBU. Nothing’s achieved by going for one anothers’ throats

ArseDarkly · 10/11/2019 12:18

JustAnotherPoster00

I've had some great laughs from your love of the internet - keep up the good work!

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:18

And trying to line me or any other Corbyn hater up with the Tories is a waste of time.

Thats a leap of your own making I did no such thing

I was pointing out that while they did make it legal the type of person that makes up their membership found that unacceptable

ArseDarkly · 10/11/2019 12:20

Drinking cocktails of bile - bound to make you bad tempered

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:21

"So a party thats been in power since 2010 and thats the only thing you could come up with, "

Sounds like saying I'm a Tory. But, whatever you say is obviously fiiiiiine.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:23

But, whatever you say is obviously fiiiiiine.

Ok boomer

bellinisurge · 10/11/2019 12:24

Wow. Ageist insults too. Nice way to attract people to your side.

thecatfromjapan · 10/11/2019 12:25

Stop it.

Really.

This is the angry, divisive politics that is eating democracy.

Keep it civil.

Remember we are real human beings - not dehumanised monsters into which you can load your anger, fear and hatred.

Do not fall into the trap of dehumanised abjection.

Only violence and the poisoning of democracy lies there.

There is something precious that it is our duty to keep alive.

I mean it.

It's a fragile flame - and if we let it go out we enter the darkness.

DGRossetti · 10/11/2019 12:27

They’re not trying to represent Jewish voters who have deserted them in droves.

How many Jewish people are there in the UK ?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Jews#Population_size

suggests we are starting at 250,000.

Even if we take that as 100% under estimate, and double the number to 500,000 and we assume everyone of those can vote and we assume they would all have voted Labour anyway, the language of "deserting in droves" doesn't seem to match the actualite. (It also makes you wonder whether the person described upthread as attacking a candidate was Jewish, knew anybody Jewish, or was just a troublemaker Hmm)

And no one seemed to oppose my takedown of the "anti semitic" campaign manager on the last thread either Hmm.

All this "anti-semitism" business is starting to look like a distraction.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:27

cat as always the voice of reason

I swear you need a little jiminy cricket suit and sit on my shoulder cat Flowers

thecatfromjapan · 10/11/2019 12:29

I'm this far / / from reporting you both.

Seriously.

I was almost punched on the doorstep yesterday.

This has to stop.

Someone (someone else, another Jo Cox) is going to die.

All of us, all of us, have to make the change & force others to step back from this volatility, before there is another tragedy.

I don't want it to be me - small, random human that I am.

Seriously, stop it.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:30

You'd have to also account for the Jewish voters that left in 'droves' under Milliband

Icantreachthepretzels · 10/11/2019 12:32

It’s superfluous to know what the Labour Party official position would be on the most important issue facing this country since the war?

Personally I greatly prefer that they admit they don't know their position because they don't yet know the details

I would find it very worrying if they dogmatically insisted they would support whatever they got - they have no evidence as yet that they can get anything better than B.J.

Saying 'we'll make a decision once we have all the facts' is eminently sensible and exactly the approach any government should take to ... well, anything.

But we left common sense back in 2016. And voters can't accept sensible when it is staring them in the face.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 10/11/2019 12:33

As an aside cat I'd hold no malice if you felt you needed to report my posts, especially if you feel theyve crossed a line

Alsohuman · 10/11/2019 12:34

But we left common sense back in 2016. And voters can't accept sensible when it is staring them in the face

Amen to that.
