Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Nothing to say about the suppressed document?

I'm a day behind with the newspapers, ArseDarkly (RL stuff getting in the way) so am only vaguely aware that Dominic Grieve has been droning on complaining about something but it's hard to comment on a "suppressed" document while it is, erm, "suppressed".

Happy to comment when I know something about it but you may have to wait a day or two.

In the meantime, why not have a drink while you are here?

Landlady, any chance of a cuppa please? Builder's brew if possible.

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 21:23

Hate...

I'm very sceptical of studies, even the ones that say flooding the market with cheap, under the radar eu ee immigration is not good... Even.. When corybn says it ( he said ee labour crashed construction industry ), because.... Figures of how many ee came here or are here are really pure guesses.

No one counted a single eu migrant in.

We don't make anyone register anywhere and we have no way at all of knowing exactly how many migrants are here..
It's all very 'Conservative' guess work.

So yes some studies say cheap labour has crippled the poorer people in UK, more blue collar workers but that's probably the tip of the iceberg. Guess work.

ArseDarkly · 06/11/2019 21:24

Sunny

Maybe I can refer you to Soniamumsnets comment from this morning -
Just popping in to say that we'd really appreciate everyone being given a chance to have their say, even if their views aren't the same as yours. The issues are only going to become more intense as we head for an election, so it would be a shame if some posters feel pushed out of the debate.

You don't have to get so worried and passive-aggressive. I'm asking questions, putting my view, wanting to hear some rational argument. If you're not interested just ignore. Easy

HateIsNotGood · 06/11/2019 21:28

Arse I haven't posted such like in The Arms, because like I said, I gave up and prefer to go for a pint.

I'm the same as you economically, having forged a path as a self-employed NMW gig-worker myself. It isn't the EU workers themselves that suppress the rates of the low-paid, but the Employers who take advantage of the infinite stream of workers who will work for low pay. The only way round it is to turn the tap off so the T&Cs of the low-paid improve.

Don't mean to post and run and be rude but I must go now. Kind Regards, from 'Hate'.

Parker231 · 06/11/2019 21:31

Boris’s‘election’ speech was poor - too much slagging off his opposition and not enough information on what he would actually do - a typical Boris speech.

ArseDarkly · 06/11/2019 21:32

Grieve has been trying to get media attention for this crucial issue since the weekend. A commons report into possible interference by Russia into uk politics should have been published by the Government last week.

Government has refused to publish, giving 'reasons' described by anyone in the know as totally fake. Report cannot now be published as parliament has been dissolved and is unlikely now to be seen until april 2020 at the earliest.

XingMing · 06/11/2019 21:34

if I am a minority of one, please ignore me, but is it completely daft of me to think a proper high tech identity card system, with gates to pass through nationality, employment and healthcare entitlement systems ought to be possible and desirable? One you qualify for, not one that can be handed out (unless recipient is under 18)?

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 21:36

Arse, OK I will see.

That's the point your trying to wedge in. That the arms is not friendly and won't answer your questions or let you get your view across.

Well I've spent all day helping students answer questions, so I've given you the same answer I gave them... Don't be lazy.. Go and search the answers for yourself, it's at your fingertips.

I'm a mum whose looking for leaver chat in the one teeny corner of mumsnet that's still flickering with leavers hope... I thought mn was for all mums not just remainer mums?

I'm more than than happy, as I'm sure everyone is, for you to ask questions and complain about brexit...
But no one, is obliged to answer your questions. Bus man holiday for me... I've come into the arms to relax and be silly.

Is there a brexit thread perhaps where mnhq enforce debate and answering questions?

yellowallpaper · 06/11/2019 21:38

XingMing. People in Greece may be allowed to retire at 55 but only because Greece cooked their financial books to get in the EU and would not have otherwise been allowed in, and net contributors like us prop less well off countries up financially. Not sure if Greece falls into that category, but countries in Eastern Europe sure do. Not only that but part of our 'divorce settlement' (billions £) is paying for the fat pensions of EU beaurocrats, and I bet they are far better pensions than any of us will ever see.

I had to laugh today when a welsh lady said she was a lifelong labour voter who was going to vote for Borissimo because of Brexit. Then the impartial BBC presenter says ....even though Wales has had massive investment from the EU because of its economic deprivation. Que me shouting at the radio, BUT ITS OUR OWN MONEY. It's the one bloody thing that riles me this harping on about how the EU supports deprived areas of the U.K. (with our own contributions (sigh))

Saying that I will probably cote remain if there is a 2nd referendum as I'm so sick of it all

Yellow it's not just pensions, billions is lost to sheer corruption.

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 21:41

Bercow aren't you implying I can't express myself because of my grammar, are you grammer shaming me?

ArseDarkly · 06/11/2019 21:44

It isn't the EU workers themselves that suppress the rates of the low-paid, but the Employers who take advantage of the infinite stream of workers who will work for low pay. The only way round it is to turn the tap off so the T&Cs of the low-paid improve.

Trouble is Hate, that tap isn't going to be turned off because Tories are all for Business and Business will demand the flow continue so they don't have to put up wages. After Brexit, Johnson will be held to ransom by employers threatening to leave the UK or declare bankruptcy if they have to pay more so we will just go on and on struggling

Anyway, farewell and see you soon, you funny thing!

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 21:47

I hope you're not in charge of teaching your students grammar

🙄

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 21:48

@soniamumsnet

I've had a hard day and come into the jovial light hearted brexit thread and I've been tolled by remain posters wanting answers from me, and I've been critiqued for not googling on thier behalf or passing on info to them..Sonia I do this all-day and I'm a tired mum wanting some light hearted relief... Now, some of Remainers are shaming me due to my lack of eduction. I wouldn't normally feel so fragile but as a leaver... I already feel branded and put down as a thick knuckle dragging person who isn't worth being given the right to vote (words used on mumsnet over and over again).

I've only come for banter and to express my slightly humorous views. Sad

Are posters allowed to demand answers?

BelleHathor · 06/11/2019 21:49

RE : "Russian Interference" report and its contents, I am sceptical for a number of reasons. First of all the messenger, Grieve is the person who vowed to bring down Boris Johnson order-order.com/2019/08/28/grieve-pledges-no-confidence-government/. It seems Grieve may have an axe to grind. Secondly most of the information has been conjecture , speculation and come from unnamed "sources". It is worrying that people within our security services would speak off the record from a national security pov. IMHO it is a deliberate ploy to insinuate that the Brexit vote was invalid. It is a manipulative act in order to try and influence how people will vote in the election and just like the Mueller report in the USA will turn out to be a great big nothing burger 🤔

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 21:50

PS I'm crippled by my phone key board I'm already a poor speller but it hobbles me..
I've already apologised to people reading my 'sloppy' posts.

Maybe mn is just for more spag posters, with better phone keyboard or lap tops or I stuff? .

Well I've spent all day helping students answer questions, so I've given you the same answer I gave them... Don't be lazy.. Go and search the answers for yourself, it's at your fingertips.

But i'm asking for your opinions/viewpoint, so where can I go but here? People here feel free to berate and slate and castigate remainers/corbyn - no lack of stuff to say there, but somehow have nothing to say when any slightly tougher questions are asked.

Of course you don't have to answer, that's daft, but given that you support leaving, and leaving is going to have enormous and possibly dire consequences for the whole country - leavers and remainers, you really should be able to scrape together a half-decent response

Parker231 · 06/11/2019 21:51

SunnyupLands - corruption is rife in the UK.

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 21:53

But i'm asking for your opinions/viewpoint, so where can I go but here?

And nobody is mandated to answer

We've answered the same questions for 3 & half years

We're bored of it

It's tedious

Start a thread of your own if you're genuinely interested

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 21:57

People here feel free to berate and slate and castigate remainers/corbyn

Nobody is berating or slating people for voting remain

I personally couldn't give a toss how posters voted, or whether they're still ardent remainers or leavers

I'll slag Corbyn off though, with (marrow) relish. I think he's a twat.

ArseDarkly · 06/11/2019 21:59

DustyDiamond

You live a strange double life - you feel free to go to the Westminstenders to post opinions and questions and as far as I can see, always post respectully and are treated same.

When pp come here in turn, you respond with nothing but sarcasm stupid memes, pray for sally bollocks.

Seems wrong to me.

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 22:02

Right! Stepped out for a moment, I come back and bodies everywhere!

I am only going to say one thing on this matter. There is a world of difference, between asking questions politely and saying hello, as many posters do, and demanding answers from people.(what would happen if you did that to someone in the street?) Particularly when some of those same wide eyed posters have been here countless times throwing PA’s and goadiness around like confetti and not just here either. If you get ignored, it’s because people have bought the t-shirt a thousand times and expect a refund. Asking questions is fine, but demanding answers like a petulant toddler is frankly ridiculous (especially questions that you have asked countless times.)

Oh and leave that grammar shit elsewhere. It’s peurile. Think on, regarding dyslexia, and poor vision or maybe just fast typing. You don’t know the person behind the screen and potential disabilities , so have a word with yourself.

Sit down, have a drink and play nice. Otherwise you are wasting your time and ours.

Anyway, I’m done on this issue. Have the last petty word if you must, but either way, it seems like a timely moment for one of my memes. Wink
