Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

First drinks are free! Wine

It's all a bit Big Brother, isn't it?

Surprised anyone was offended by a fact from 2016 that I stated. Everyone nods along in agreement when I state it to the other customers in my local.

BelleHathor · 05/11/2019 21:51

Very Big Brother 👁👁!

So an offensive post gets deleted and talk turns to stalking and big brother.

Wynona · 05/11/2019 22:14

Can I ask for directions please or is this just a place to drink?

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 22:26

Defo a place to drink @Wynona!

What’s your tipple? Grin

Irish coffee I think. I was actually trying to find out about Brexit and google took me here. Still I like what you have done with the place.

Wynona · 05/11/2019 22:34

I haven't visited mumsnet for years.

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 22:39

“I haven't visited mumsnet for years.”

In that case! An extra splash in your Irish Coffee! Welcome back! SmileBrew

Evening all, missed the drama by the looks of it!

Just saw this nugget on twitter. After last weeks Question Time there were rumours circulating about the young man in the audience who spoke and was pro brexit. Everything from him being the producers son and being made to look ‘working class’. Honestly it was bat shit.

Anyway full fact have looked into it and confirmed it all bullshit. The kind of people tweeting this rumour on twitter were QC’s by the way. People that you’d expect to have a bit more critical thinking about these things. Their anger has blinded them against rational thought and reason and they are believing bot accounts then circulating the lies. No doubt are the same people who thought leavers believed the big red bus as well. Such is the irony, Who needs Russian interference when we have so many gullible fools out there believing this nonsense.

Thank you for the welcome. Is this a place were a floating voter can ask questions or should I get my coat?

DustyDiamond · 05/11/2019 23:07

Holly - it was hilarious!

The original tweet was a parody account, of which there's a few linked ones which all commented on it - proper tangled web!!

Then blue ticks started retweeting it & the poor bbc bloke who had nothing to do with question time was getting loads of shit 😂😂

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/11/2019 23:08

Of course you can ask questions here Wynona

DustyDiamond · 05/11/2019 23:12

Ask away Wyona 🍷

There's also another long running Brexit thread as well which is more remain heavy & will give you other viewpoints for balance - this thread is the pro-Brexit one
The other one is Westministenders & has a lot of traffic

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 23:13

“Thank you for the welcome. Is this a place were a floating voter can ask questions or should I get my coat?”

Of course you can! You are more than welcome! We do lean to leave more in the arms (as you have probably noticed. Wink) and we do like a good laugh (often at ourselves), for brevity, but we are happy to discuss issues from all perspectives and all sides of the fence!

I do feel sorry for the young man's mental health though. It seems that there's an epidemic of Brexit Derangement syndrome going on right now. Brexit has turned previously rational people into mass conspiracy theorists and in the bid to win at any costs anything and anyone is collateral damage. It's like witnessing mass hysteria!

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 23:16

Sometimes things get messy, like any pub! but we just clean up and start again. With hangovers and 3am flashbacks. Grin

I am really divided. I could do with understanding different points of view. I voted remain however I am not happy that the democratic process has not been respected. On the other hand I don’t like the deal on offer from Boris. I don’t get what Labour are going to do. Basically I could do with learning what the options are. I live in a marginal so feel I must vote

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 23:21

Evening Holly!

Yeah, they went straight for the honey didn’t they? The outrage was amazing! 😂

It was very funny to watch! TBF, when I read through initially it took me a while to work out who was trolling who! 😂😂😂

Poor lad getting caught up in it though! 😬 although it was not at all at his expense per se. quite the reverse in fact.

I do love it when trolls, troll trolls.

Thank you Epic

DustyDiamond · 05/11/2019 23:25

Holly - the original tweet was from @DrRobertZands

The account is fucking bonkers & very funny - proper top trolling

His 'lawyer' is @laughdugrylegal & is also bonkers

They're linked to @Orwell_fan & all use the hashtag #BeKindOnline

If you can be arsed to try & untangle the batshittery it's quite funny

Epicwaffle · 05/11/2019 23:33

I can understand that Wynona, personally (and Im a leaver, so I am viewing this through my own lens.)

I feel that right now, as a deal, it’s the best we are going to get. It satisfies most, doesn’t betray democracy and isn’t an outright no deal (which although I’m personally unfazed by, isn’t my active preference) it’s not perfect, but it’s the best we are going to get. Overall I don’t believe it’s BINO as the brexit party love to claim, but I feel it protects the forward going relationship with our EU neighbours, whilst allowing us to move on independently, which I am happy with.

I get why it must be so difficult for you and although leavers (well not just leavers tbf) have been dicked around for 3 1/2 years. We find ourselves in a much clearer position politically. Overall anyway. It must be excruciating from a remain perspective to decide which way to go currently.
