YY to the true motivation being remain - I cannot understand why they think we're all so stupid as to believe the 'just confirmatory' platitudes 🙄

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 18:02

🙄 It was basically saying...

Not I was basically saying 🙄🙄🙄

frumpety · 27/10/2019 18:44

Anyone else wonder at the marvel that is a towel facelift ? If DH and I ever split , the towel facelift will be my picture of choice on any dating app, think Whigfield Saturday night Wink

So back to Parliament doing its job , anymore suggested 'wrecking ammendments' ? Dusty doesn't want any CU or 2nd ref , personally I want stuff that's been moved from the legislative bit to PD moved back , not sure if that's classed as 'wrecking' though ?

bellinisurge · 27/10/2019 18:46

Wonder why any of you think Corbyn is some sort of People's Vote/Remain icon. He's a twat hated by a large chunk of people who don't love Brexit. He's probably your best asset.

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 18:48

Technically they can't move it back because that would mean opening up the WA & changing the legal part of it which is not in the gift of Parliament

Practically, maybe the EU would do so, but it's yet more time wasting & dicking them around so they probably wouldn't

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 18:50

I don't think that

I just think he's a wanker

Nothing to do with Brexit, everything to do with him, his past actions & his ideologies

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 18:59

To be fair to Corbyn (which pains me) I think he was right to want to go for the GE back in September

By capitulating to his handlers & Starmer etc the Labour Party have been been badly damaged

I'm pleased that this is happening obvs, but from a completely dispassionate & detached viewpoint, I think he's been corralled into further enforcing the 'parliament vs the people' narrative

Bearbehind · 27/10/2019 19:02

So what’s he going to do tomorrow?

Support a GE or what?

Epicwaffle · 27/10/2019 19:02

“He's probably your best asset.”

Lol, corbyn is an ‘Asset’ to no-one and an ‘Ass’ to everyone.

🎶 Nooooooo Jeremy Corbyn 🎶

Walkingdeadfangirl · 27/10/2019 19:03

Why do you not think our parliament should make our own laws? You are essentially saying the UK voters are children and need the EU to dictate laws to us. So you dont believe in democracy? Sad

time4chocolate · 27/10/2019 19:17

So what’s he going to do tomorrow?

Evening BearWine - I don’t think he’s going to support it but I’m hoping I’m wrong.

I see Tony Blair has popped up again suggesting it might be possible to hold a second ref on the same day as a GEShock although he says he would prefer them to be done separately and that also, if we had a second ref remain would have to realise that ‘no deal’ would need to be one of the options.

From Sky News - The EU is preparing to sign off on a Brexit extension to 31 January 2020 with an option for the UK to leave earlier if a deal is ratified, according to a leaked draft of the agreement seen by the Guardian.
Despite objections raised by the French government, a paper to be agreed on Monday circulated among member states suggests the EU will accede to the UK’s request for a further delay.
The UK would be able to leave on the first day of the month after a deal is ratified, according to the paper.

frumpety · 27/10/2019 19:29

I do think our Parliament should make our own laws , which is exactly why I am suggesting that stuff that has been moved from the legislative stuff to the PD should be moved back again. The PD is a gentleman's agreement and there aren't currently enough of them in Parliament to be trusted to honour it. So we move it back and then enshrine it in UK law when the time comes to do so , simples Smile

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:40

It can't be moved back though without the EU reopening the WA

Parliament could easily pass their own one line bill to this end I suppose but a future govt could still repeal it if they desperately wanted to 🤷🏻‍♀️

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:42

Interesting Parker...

If that's the case then the SNP/Lib Dem plan might falter as they were basing it around the EU offering fixed end of Jan (no earlier)

I think that was the strategy anyway...?

frumpety · 27/10/2019 19:43

You do know that UK voters don't get to vote on this stuff right ? Fangirl
That isn't how democracy works in the UK, you pick a side , then you get to pick a candidate and then you vote for that candidate and if you are lucky lots of other people feel the same way you do and then for the next 5 years , you hope they will vote the way you would expect them to.

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:43

The whole rights issue is a red herring anyway - it's being used as a blocking tactic, nothing more

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:44

That's democracy Frumpety 🤷🏻‍♀️

We get the govt we elect

GrouchoMrx · 27/10/2019 19:46

Only the seriously delusional would believe that.

After Brexit, it will be a race to the bottom.

frumpety · 27/10/2019 19:51

Which rights are a red herring Dusty ?

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:51

The whole argument about rights in general Frumpety

DustyDiamond · 27/10/2019 19:52

Only the seriously delusional would believe that.

Would believe what?

frumpety · 27/10/2019 19:54

We get the govt we elect

Well given I didn't elect this one, and I didn't elect the current PM , and actually neither did the rest of the country ( OK a tiny % got to elect him ) where does that leave us , pardon the pun Grin

frumpety · 27/10/2019 19:56

So are you suggesting rights = a bad thing Dusty ?

frumpety · 27/10/2019 20:02

The EU will be more than happy to see the stuff that moved from legislative to PD, moved back to legislative, so hardly a blocking tactic.
