RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 25/10/2019 09:49

Think you should grey rock as well two Brew

Epicwaffle · 25/10/2019 09:56

I will rufus, I was actually really really upset about being villified like that yesterday because of deleted posts on which I had done nothing wrong. So to have it keep being dragged up is a proper slap in the face, when I have less than zero opportunity to fairly defend myself. 😢

Bearbehind · 25/10/2019 09:57

I would have accepted TMs day (somewhat begrudgingly) and I would accept BJ deal. I won't accept remaining.

And that exactly what BJ wants - he can offer any old shit deal as long as it’s not Remain and Leavers will lap it up

TheSultanofPingu · 25/10/2019 10:03

It's astonishing Op that you are willing to accept a probable severe economic downturn that could last year's in exchange for your precious Brexit. It's no longer 'project fear', leading Brexiters have finally admitted this. Also, we also always had our freedom. You have just been led to believe otherwise.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 25/10/2019 10:06

Pretty sure that TMs deal did screw people over. It had 3 chances to pass and didn't. Why was that? Even Boris didn't vote for it 🤷🏼‍♀️

twofingerstoEverything · 25/10/2019 10:16

Not the first time I have had dealings with twofingers. Frequently they have levelled personal attacks at me in the past. Such as “off you fuck, doubt anyone will miss you”
In fact more specifically, the “Off you fuck” comment was aimed at a post I made about having MH issues and needing a break.
Could you PM me with a link to that please, epic, if you're not comfortable posting a link here? I've done an advanced search and come up with nothing. Have searched for "off you fuck" posted by twofingers, and also for the exact phrase you used above, but haven't found anything. If I did tell someone to fuck off in direct response to them saying they had MH issues, I will certainly apologise. However, I haven't been able to find anything.
(I did, however, call someone a 'twat' the other day when they were goading me about not going on the anti-Brexit march!)

twofingerstoEverything · 25/10/2019 10:17

Rufus I have no idea what grey rock is?

RhinoskinhaveI · 25/10/2019 10:23

Does anyone have recommendations for blogs or podcasts with helpful discussion and analysis? Here's mine

Right, I will have to screenshot as you want evidence Two Fingers. Sorry MNHQ.

The trouble is, I was wrong, and MNHQ had actually deleted it after all, but my post is still there under my previous user name.

Epicwaffle · 25/10/2019 10:25

At that time, the abuse against leavers was at epic proportions. Hence my post.

Epicwaffle · 25/10/2019 10:31

I apologise for what I said TWO, but given your earlier comment to me, which I obviously now cannot prove, you can understand my position. But, emotions are running high. So let’s just call a truce and ALL try to be nicer, me included.

twofingerstoEverything · 25/10/2019 10:42

For anyone who can't read that - I couldn't see it on my phone:
Mustard/epic:
Pops in for a swift half after a short MH break, observes the arms has been colonised once again by the usual frothing, goading, insulting remainers.

Leaves. (Not a pun).

Followed by my post deletion, so don't really know what I said there. There's a fair bit of goady fuckery in the "colonised by frothing, goading, insulting remainers..." bit, but whatever my deleted post said, I sincerely apologise!

I see posters were being deleted left right and centre on that thread, including your very good self.

twofingerstoEverything · 25/10/2019 10:42

Cross post.

Parker231 · 25/10/2019 10:51

Leavers and remainers are as bad as each other regarding the ‘quality ‘ of their insults - strong feelings on both sides. I’ll never understand why anyone wants to leave but always interested to try and understand why others do - although I’ve not read anything which has changed my opinion.

RhinoskinhaveI · 25/10/2019 10:58

Ultimately we all want the same thing, we all want the best for the country that we call home.
Yes there is profound and significant disagreement about what is best for our home, but we do all want the best for our country.
❤️🏠❤️

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 25/10/2019 10:59

Same here Parker. I've yet to read any logical or factual reason for believing that leave is a good thing. It's difficult to accept a viewpoint that doesn't stand up to any kind of scrutiny.

Jason118 · 25/10/2019 11:07

@BercowsFlyingFlamingo you could easily make the same argument about religions and similar cults. Belief systems exist despite logical reasoning, much like a lot of leaver rhetoric.
I'll take a coffee if there's one going Smile

DustyDiamond · 25/10/2019 11:15

I wish we could have our own led by donkeys... It's not as if we havant got enough quotes...

I agree with all of Epic's earlier post about why we don't have visible & vocal demonstrations of support.

Further, I would argue that the anti-Brexit brigade are actually helping the Brexit camp.

Wrt viral vids of lying MPs etc - these are widely shared on social media and have a long reach across the ages. The hysteria of anti-brexiters & the ridiculous painting faces blue, draped in flags & prancing around are laughed at by people like my kids & their friends as well as the wider age range & working class demographic

Older people like my parents who only rarely go on social media other than to stay in touch see the mainstream media though - full of vocal anti-Brexiters - demos, smug MPs talking about their latest Brexit-blocking manoeuvre, high profile mocking of brexiters etc and also the constant refrain of 'they didn't know what they were voting for' on QT or posh people banging on about "but who will serve us in pret?" Being called gammons with gleeful delight, thick, racist etc. This turns them away from pro EU arguments & further towards feeling alienated.

The mocking of Brexiters is ubiquitous - see the Brexit march from the north east to London - a bunch of hardy working class folk trudged for miles, joined along the way by small groups to show support. As evidenced by a previous poster, this was mocked by anti-Brexit people, but the optics to Brexit voting, non-protesting, non-vocal ordinary people are that they do not matter other than as objects of derision.

All of these messages cut through psychologically & stick.

So my view is pretty much that of 'let them get on with it, they're just playing to their own in-group'

(Sorry if thread has moved on significantly, I was part way through this post hours ago and got caught up in something else)

DustyDiamond · 25/10/2019 11:17

Why is he/she bit a nice individual

Because they glitterball all over these threads, constantly, and have been quite nasty on several occasions.

One of the posters I have muted actually.

DustyDiamond · 25/10/2019 11:20

we also always had our freedom. You have just been led to believe otherwise.

You are brainwashed!
You didn't know what you were voting for!

🙄🙄

howabout · 25/10/2019 11:58

Why do Leave voters not go on marches?

  1. The Brexit Party organises extremely well attended local rallies.
  2. The Brexit Party stood candidates in the EU elections and provided a democratic single issue vote. Imo the result of this was the final demise of TM and her Deal.
  3. Leavers are scattered all over the country and not that fond of a day trip to that London.

Re tactical voting:
Wiki your constituency and look at the 2010 election result to get underlying LibDem vote high point. Then look at 2015 to see underlying UKIP high point as proxy for Brexit Party. Then look at where those voters went in 2017. Look at the strength of the Green vote in 2015 and assume it will be higher. Greens largely did not stand in 2017. Also factor in that 2017 had high turnout and atm enthusiasm for none of the above is running high. Play around with electoral calculus. Then factor in anything local.

Couple of interesting examples:
Putney is likely to stay Conservative despite being Remainy.
Brighton Kemptown is likely to go back to Conservative due to split Labour/Green/LibDem vote.
Peterborough Labour vote in the by-election was lower than Bxt Party / Tory combined. The Bxt Party / Tory combined vote in the by-election was higher than Labour polled in the 2015 GE. 2010 LibDem vote was significant but collapsed in 2015 / 2017 but recovering at by-election. 2015 UKIP vote was significant and looks to have made up most of the by-election Brexit Party vote. Conservative voters look to have stayed at home in disgust with TM at the by-election but will likely turn out for Boris if only because they are now more disgusted by everyone else. Again I predict a Tory win and certainly a place to tactically vote Tory to deliver Brexit with a Deal.

Struggling to see where Labour are going to pick up seats but that may be my Brexity bias. Would be interested in examples?
