I only just heard BJ say it’s a great deal and vote is Saturday - R4 I think that was it

StealthPolarBear · 17/10/2019 14:39

howabout I know any single country could veto it but can junker himself not veto? That's interesting

OP posts:
NoCauseRebel · 17/10/2019 14:39

Juncker doesn't get final say on extension. It would be up to the EU Council. So they could still firm up on the This Deal or No Deal stance or they could torpedo it and the Deal by indicating they would offer an Extension or even equivocating. she does. It only takes one state to say no and that’s the end of it.

slipperywhensparticus · 17/10/2019 14:40

I'm hoping people have stocked up on medication.....

StealthPolarBear · 17/10/2019 14:40

Tbh if I was junker id be in a strop too. Well I am, see previous snappiness

HoopDeDoop · 17/10/2019 14:41

I assumed it was a UK demand as part of the negotiation. UK make concessions if EU says publicly before Saturday that they won't accept an extension. Clever.

TottieandMarchpane · 17/10/2019 14:41

@PhilSwagielka I’ve been taking about 7/8s of my prescribed dose for a year, to build up a small cushion.

Too late for that, but if, for example, you’re on 30/500 cocodamol, you could try buying some of the weaker OTC stuff to get a month’s worth in hand.

I’m sure the powers that be have used these three years to do their best to shore up pharmaceutical supplies, though.

The fact this is necessary for the land of milk and honey which is post-brexit Britain is a fucking disgrace.

whatever he says you can assume it's the opposite

PhilSwagielka · 17/10/2019 14:44

I'm on Sertraline. I don't know how to go about taking smaller doses. I'm not in a position to screw around with my mental health.

Do you get OTC co-codamol? Solpadeine and Syndol are great but they're super expensive.

howabout · 17/10/2019 14:45

Just refreshed the comments.
If the EU confirms prior to Saturday it is This Deal or No Deal then that makes it harder for No No Dealers to either vote against or seek to tack on a 2nd Ref - this pressurises the 21 ex Tories and upwards of 20 Labour eg Stephen Kinnock and Caroline Flint plus a few Independents eg Frank Field. Dumping the DUP helps with this sell.

EU Council could also make the Deal subject to being agreed and done by 31 October. Then any 2nd Ref would have to be No Deal versus Remain.

Timeywimey10 · 17/10/2019 14:45

Taking my irritation out on people on this thread as Boris Johnson isnt here to slap Grin

SinglePringle · 17/10/2019 14:45

No worries Stealth. Bad news days cause bad mood days.

PhilSwagielka · 17/10/2019 14:46

@TottieandMarchpane I got told by some twat on Facebook that I'd had three years to prepare. As if it's that easy to go to a GP and say 'please give me extra anti-depressants in case a No Deal Brexit happens'. Not to mention I changed meds earlier this year.

StealthPolarBear · 17/10/2019 14:46

Timeywimey you can shut it too
;)

No my cocodamol is prescription and amitryptiline and insulin and other stuff. I just picked it as an example.

I’m sure that even within the area of medicine supplies, they’ll prioritise essential drugs. It’s just made me feel better to build a small stash.

TottieandMarchpane · 17/10/2019 14:49

No I agree, @PhilSwagielka it’s tough. The GP wouldn’t give you extra anyway. There’s only so much that’s possible for you to do.

PhilSwagielka · 17/10/2019 14:51

GPs aren't allowed to prescribe extra anyway.

howabout · 17/10/2019 14:51

Stealth the EU in the form of Tusk, Juncker and Barnier act under instruction from their membership - the EU is not a State and therefore not a legal entity in its own right in Treaty negotiations. So yes every and any member state has a veto on an extension (I think including the UK having the theoretical ability to refuse its own request if, for example, the rEU attached loads of conditions to it).

This is also why it was theoretically "impossible" for Barnier to reopen negotiations or for Varadkar to negotiate bi-laterally rather than via the conduit of Barnier operating under a joint mandate.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 17/10/2019 14:52

I got told by some twat on Facebook that I'd had three years to prepare.

What a thick cunt they are. Loads of people weren’t even on the medication theyre on now, 3 years ago! Hmm

BunchMunch · 17/10/2019 14:53

I'm on Cocodamol 30/500, instead of taking 2 x 4 daily most of the time now I just take 1.
I've managed to get a 6 week buffer supply this way.

The 8/500 strength are around £2 for 32 in pharmacies for the generic ones.

elprup · 17/10/2019 14:55

I don’t understand - if this deal isn’t passed in parliament, isn’t Boris required by law to ask the EU for an extension?

When that happens, I thought Corbyn is almost certainly expected to call a VONC, thereby triggering a general election.

Am I misunderstanding this?

StealthPolarBear · 17/10/2019 14:56

He is required to ask.
Why is that the trigger for a VONC? why not now?

OP posts:
Aposterhasnoname · 17/10/2019 14:57

Boris has to ask, but the eu doesn’t have to grant it. We’ll done to all those that tried to block brexit. You’ve just put us on a non stop collision course for no deal!

PhilSwagielka · 17/10/2019 14:58

That was the plan all along.
