The sooner we get a true remainer in charge of the Labour party the better

Ah so what do you say to the Labour constituencies who voted Leave?

wondering7777 · 18/10/2019 08:37

Ah BXP or Tory bot I get ya now

Oh don’t be so ridiculous. Actually I’m a pro-remain, ex-Labour and now Lib Dem voter. How idiotic to suggest that everyone who’s had it up to here with Corbyn is Tory/Brexit Party. There are plenty of Labour voters who would like to see the back of him.

wondering7777 · 18/10/2019 08:39

Ah so what do you say to the Labour constituencies who voted Leave?

I say that three years after the vote, it’s become apparent that leave is an unworkable, unmitigated disaster and that leaving the EU is the wrong decision for our country. Plenty of Labour MPs would agree.

Are you a Brexiteer then?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/10/2019 08:41

How idiotic to suggest that everyone who’s had it up to here with Corbyn is Tory/Brexit Party.

Nope just the ones that use the BXP/Tory predictable bullet points

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/10/2019 08:45

Are you a Brexiteer then?

Not even close, but Labour are the only party who are taking both sides of the ref into account

Tory Party - Fuck the 48%
Lib Dems - Fuck the 52%

Brexit is because of austerity for the most part and LibDems were up to there elbow in that stinkfist of a coalition, Swinson voted in line with Tory policy more times than Jeremy Hunt

HeyNotInMyName · 18/10/2019 08:47

Brexit isnt a conservative vs labour issue.
Some labour voters are leavers and some conservative voters are remainders.
If labour has to be careful about its leave voters/constituency then do does the Tories te their remain voters/constituencies

TheMShip · 18/10/2019 08:49

After a night of tossing and turning, I am coming around to hoping this passes with the appropriate amendments to close the loophole of crash out due to not implementing the required legislation. I don't like the deal, I don't support it, but I fear no deal more. I'd like a referendum on deal vs revoke, but realize it's an unlikely prospect and prolongs the uncertainty.

I think a GE might not be as favourable to the Tories as current polling indicates. Farage doesn't like the deal and will rally the BXP vote against the Tory party, splitting the vote on the right and allowing Lib Dem wins in Tory/LD marginals. The SNP will take 50+ seats in Scotland. There's a good chance for a minority Labour led government in that scenario.

I'm an optimist Grin

The petitions, demos, writing to MPs etc that we've all taken part with, what impact have they had on the direction Brexit has gone in? Fuck all!

Yes, but think of how Communism collapsed in E Europe. Eventually people had had enough and the protests gathered strength and the system was brought down. Coupled with some silly decisions - didn't a border guard open the border too soon, and wham, people went flocking through.

fedup21 · 18/10/2019 08:53

I hope this doesn’t pass. I don’t want Boris to ‘win’. The deal looks crap and I hope we revoke.

TatianaLarina · 18/10/2019 08:59

I don't like the deal, I don't support it, but I fear no deal more

They’ve got you exactly where they want you then.

This government has already swerved No Deal once, BJ’s compromise swerves it again. Whatever they say to intimidate you into supporting their shit deals - they know No Deal would ruin the country and their party.

If Remainers could hold their nerve and vote down the WA - Brexit would be on its last legs. No Deal is the one of the only thing on which there is a majority view in Parliament (against).

Remainers must stop running scared. If this deal goes through and it may well do, it well be on the heads of the Remainers who chickened out.

wondering7777 · 18/10/2019 08:59

Brexit is because of austerity for the most part

And leaving the EU is going to improve people’s lives how? Confused

Lib Dems - Fuck the 52%

As I said in my previous post, we’ve tried to leave for three years and it’s been a total disaster. Leavers (and it still sounds like you are one to me) have had their chance and they’ve blown it. The opposition need to have the conviction to tell the electorate that it’s not working, do what’s best for the country and get fully behind remain, without dilly dallying because they’re running scared of the Brexit party. The Lib Dems have done that.

wondering7777 · 18/10/2019 09:01

If Remainers could hold their nerve and vote down the WA - Brexit would be on its last legs.

Totally agree.

BestIsWest · 18/10/2019 09:03

Pmk

fedup21 · 18/10/2019 09:03

I don't like the deal, I don't support it, but I fear no deal more

So BJ’s threats and bullshit strategy won you over then?!

Peregrina · 18/10/2019 09:13

I don't think that Brexit is just to do with austerity. In some parts of the country, yes. In other parts, no. The ideas put forward by Rees-Mogg and Johnson, of slashing workers rights and protections are very attractive to certain people.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/10/2019 09:16

So BJ’s threats and bullshit strategy won you over then?!

Being scared does NOT = being 'won over'. It's totally the opposite.

fedup21 · 18/10/2019 09:20

Ok-You’ve been bullied into then? Great.

Hoooo · 18/10/2019 09:27

I don't want it to pasa but - as I've said for ages - I it will.

This is exactly what I predicted many months ago...bojo bringing back TMs WA in all but name anx it squeaking through because the majority of our MPs are craven and stupid.

It's interesting to me how many current MPs are not going to stand at the next election - which may be soon.

They know
They've always known how damaging leaving thd EU will be.

I guess the panic is that once you rouse the mob they can turn on you.

It's gonna get really nasty really quickly.

No-one who cares about workers' rights can trust a word the Tories say about them.

I was a trade union lawyer for a decade. I saw the cruelty of Tory anti-worker laws day in, day out.

Every vote for the Tories’ deal on Saturday is a vote to further deregulate workers' rights.

JeSuisPoulet · 18/10/2019 09:31

I do understand the idea that BoZo's turd of May's WA isn't "fair" in that he is taking credit for something worse that doesn't protect people as the original did. I also get that if he does get that through public will generally think he "won" and "got Brexshit done" yada yada which will boost him in a snap election. However I'm also aware people are still assuming this means there won't be any issues after 31st Oct as in food chain/trucks backing up/med shortages etc - am I wrong in thinking that isn't the case? In my mind this WA is only very marginally better than No Deal in that it smooths the way for the WAIB? Feel like I'm missing why people would vote for it?!

Basilpots · 18/10/2019 09:32

I don't like the deal, I don't support it, but I fear no deal more

If Remainers could hold their nerve and vote down the WA - Brexit would be on its last legs.

Somehow I am managing to be both of these things at the same time Sad

thecatfromjapan · 18/10/2019 09:35

If Remainers could hold their nerve and vote down the WA - Brexit would be on its last legs. No Deal is the one of the only thing on which there is a majority view in Parliament (against).

This is Brexit's last chance.

And that is a very good reason to vote it down.

And another is that there is nothing to stop No Deal in a year's time.

Also, Johnson has tinkered with May's deal to make a bonfire of regulations easier.

Lastly, it begins the work of pulling apart the UK.

thecatfromjapan · 18/10/2019 09:36

And 'Well done' to Richard Burgon.

No Labour MP should vote for this.

Basilpots · 18/10/2019 09:38

jesuis add to all that we could still WTO/no trade deal at the end of the transition period if they do not seek an extension.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 18/10/2019 09:39

I think the best comment I've seen on this wa was that it was like Johnson went into DFS and bought a full price sofa.
