The Pro Rogues plan to prorogue again this week.

The Queen might be challenged to sack Johnson. Or he might be forced to extend.

It depends on which newspaper you read. Either way it strikes you that no one really knows what's going to happen...

Sorry temporary. Flowers

Sympathies Temporary Flowers.

My parents, both now deceased, were a few years older than your father, lived through and fought in WWII, and as a result were very pro EU as well. They would have been horrified at the present situation.

TheMShip · 07/10/2019 07:09

Sorry to hear that Temporary.

I'm not sure what to think of this from the BBC about death threats to MPs in private pro and anti Brexit Facebook groups immediately after the rancourous post prorogue-that-wasn't HoC debate. It looks on first glance to be balanced, but then it says that there were more threats on pro Brexit groups, and the example they show from an anti Brexit group, which must've been the worst they could find, is simply not in the same league as those they show from the pro Brexit groups. I feel like there's more that could've been said.

The racing community will be charmed by the idea the Irish can’t bring horses here.

I don’t think the issue is bringing the horses into the UK (there is an agreement on movement of horses between Ireland, France and the UK). The issue will be getting them back into Ireland if they have to go through border inspection posts as the UK would be a third country.

So any horse travelling from Ireland to race in NI would need to re-enter Ireland through Dublin.

Another interesting twitter thread on polling data and how it might play out in a GE. Not IMO as intriguing as the @leonardocarella thread but thought provoking nonetheless.

What I've learned from this (other than that simulating is a nightmare), is that its very easy for parties - well Labour - to get caught in the middle. The seats they need to hold are Brexity marginals but the seats they need to gain are Remainy marginals, where LDs are. 15/n

And maybe the other lesson is that I don't see how Boris wins big just by winning over Leave voters. He needs to crack into very very Labour seats to get a majority (move right on my axis) or Remainy Tory seats (move down). Killing BXP not enough. n/n

So sorry Temporary Thanks

My dad is nearing 90, we are more or less estranged over Brexit. Haven't fallen out but I find it hard to make the effort to keep in touch when his politics actively harm me and my children.

Re Ireland
How ironic that they are threatening Ireland with the very thing (medication) that isn’t supposed to be an issue in the U.K...

@TemporaryPermanent , I'm so sorry. My Remain voting elderly mum died shortly after the referendum.
Tbe actual wartime generation understood what was at stake. Baby boomers didn't.

Very sorry for your loss temporaryFlowers

Very sorry for your loss, Temporary Flowers

Agreed that the wartime generation would have known what was at stake whereas boomers didn't. It's so annoying when leavers mistake boomers for the wartime generation when waving voting statistics in front of our faces. But if course individuals of any age can hold any viewpoint, and you can't judge by appearances as the lovely toerag woman recently demonstrated!

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 07/10/2019 08:02

So sorry for your loss temporary

Love Fatberg Grin

The entire queens speech is a waste of time. It's to usher in a new parliamentary term, and given how they're pressing for a GE means Brenda will only have to come and give another one in short order
