Westminstenders: The Slow No

Have to make this quick.

Johnson has made an 'offer' to the EU. Let's stress this isn't a deal because they haven't agreed.

The EU have made kind noises about it but will say no thanks.

The UK are expecting this, and despite what's been said apparently are expecting more negotiation on this.

The DUP and the ERG seem to be on board with the proposal meaning in theory Johnson might have numbers to get through parliament. Except its not a deal so this is currently meaningless.

Parliament is prorogued again from next week with the Queen's Speech the following week.

Dust spaffer appears so innocuous at first glance. He's just described himself twice as "a ventriloquist's dummy" Grin

MyNameisArthur · 03/10/2019 11:32

PMK thanks

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 03/10/2019 11:38

Watching the beginning of BJ's statement to the HoC may not last all of it for the sake of the TV and dh's ears

First comment is that the Brexiters (BJ included) consistently and probably deliberately confuse "diplomacy" and "politeness" for "acquiescence" and "agreement" HmmConfused

Alsohuman · 03/10/2019 11:42

We haven’t got a cat. Thanks Red.

prettybird · 03/10/2019 11:42

That is a beautiful calming cat Bercows Smile

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 03/10/2019 11:44

What happened to NI not being treated differently to the rest of the UK??
His suit jacket is dirty on the shoulder but he seems calmer today-has he been sedated?
Can't wait for the response and questions!

prettybird · 03/10/2019 11:45

Poor Bercow (the one in the HoC Wink). He sounds dreadful Shock

Sostenueto · 03/10/2019 11:45

Pmk

prettybird · 03/10/2019 11:47

Shall we do a sweepstake for when BJ first says "Don't like it, agree to a GE" ? Grin

FoldyRoll · 03/10/2019 11:49

You mean he hasn't already, pretty? Shock

DarlingNikita · 03/10/2019 11:50

PMK. I no longer know what's going on. Another prorogation? I missed that Confused And will this Ireland thing fly?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 03/10/2019 11:53

JoCum looks sad, quite defeated. He's lost his bluster and oomph significantly today. Maybe it's a ploy to look reasonable.

Bercow can't bollock anyone today with laryngitis which spoils watching somewhat. They'll take advantage of that. Get well soon Bercow!

prettybird · 03/10/2019 11:54

Prorogation hasn't formally been announced yet - it's still just a rumour but the suspicion is that it would be signed off formally over the weekend to take effect from close iof play Tuesday - thereby relieving BJ again from doing PMQs. Hmm

derxa · 03/10/2019 11:54

Theresa doesn't look happy Grin

prettybird · 03/10/2019 11:55

Dh was just saying the same thing derxa

prettybird · 03/10/2019 12:04

You can imagine how AngryAngryAngry it makes me every time BJ says in reply to the SNP that the people of Scotland voted to stay in the UK. AngryAngryAngry

They did so on the promise/threat that the only way that Scotland could stay in the EU was if. they. voted. to. stay. in. the. UK. Angry

So it was on a false premise Sad

prettybird · 03/10/2019 12:13

Lady Hermon now taking BJ apart, pointing out that the DUP do not represent the people of NI. She actually sounds quite emotional Sad

DGRossetti · 03/10/2019 12:13

I've swerved all BBC radio reportage since HumphreyGate (Dec 2017). However, I do occassionally pop RadioWM on for company for a few minutes on the drive swimming.

Today was the first time they have decided to have a brief look at non-UK newspapers reporting of Brexit, which intrigued me. Especially as they weren't overly positive ...

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 03/10/2019 12:14

Ooooh daggers from Theresa to Anna Soubry. It really is pantomime but also a tragedy how our MPs conduct themselves. Not all but a great amount. William Wragg was smirking and looking smug earlier. His office is less than half a mile away. He ignores my emails. I might hand deliver a letter.

Is JoCum vying for sympathy do you think? Poor Boris? I suspect he's worried but I think he's playing on it. Everything is an act with a purpose to get the desired result.
