DH's predictions

Theworldisfullofgs · 29/09/2019 18:57

DH has thoroughly depressed me. This is his view of what will happen. Brexit will happen by hook or by crook (especially the latter) on October 31st. There will then be an immediate general election and the conservatives will win. (Neither of ours preferred option). Then it will be all bets are off. He says we're stuck now - housing market will bomb.
What do you think?
(Mind you he thought remain would win.)

Probably right. Although lots of people will be happy with that scenario...

ssd · 29/09/2019 19:00

Possible I guess.
But then we'll get independence as most folk in Scotland still have sense.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:05

ssd it will be great if Scotland get independence, we won’t have to foot the bill for them anymore 😊

DontLookBackIntoTheSun · 29/09/2019 19:09

GF, “we” don’t “foot the bill” for Scotland

Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:11

We do, Scotland are a drain...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 19:11

We are cascading towards a recession. I haven’t asked DH for his Brexit predictions because he is spookily accurate on things like this (and swears a lot when it’s on the news).

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 19:11

How is Scotland a drain exactly?

MrsMaiselsMuff · 29/09/2019 19:12

What a nasty comment from WiltshireLass. People like you are why we've ended up in this mess.

As for what happens next, it's worth watching The Rise of the Nazis, that was on the BBC recently. History is repeating itself, it's bloody scary.

Theworldisfullofgs · 29/09/2019 19:13

He thinks we'll end up with ID cards that differentiate us.
Lord can you take a deep breath and ask your DH for me?

I’ll wait until after dinner! It’s like consulting Cassandra though sometimes.

Theworldisfullofgs · 29/09/2019 19:15

I'd quite like to ho and be a non-drain in Scotland.

OP posts:
Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:15

I voted remain so I’m not the course of this mess, I’d rather Scotland didn’t leave but if they really want to then that’s up to them and there are benefits for England. We do subsidise the NHS there, they don’t make enough money to be independent so we do foot the bill for them for lots of services.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:16

Cause*

tigger001 · 29/09/2019 19:16

We do, Scotland are a drain..

This is why it needs sorting ASAP so everyone can calm the "F" down and stop attacking each other, it's ridiculous.

Iggly · 29/09/2019 19:18

Saying Scotland is a drain is like saying everywhere but London is a drain.

Honestly, that a load of cock.

Although with our current state of politics, I’d say Westminster very much is a drain.

Hazardd · 29/09/2019 19:19

Looking forward to Lord's DH prediction. Hope dinner is nice with a pudding so he's in an optimistic mood for predicting!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/09/2019 19:24

If no deal happens they’ll have to call an election sharpish before the economy completely tanks and the Tories take the blame.

LoueyLou · 29/09/2019 19:25

Comments like Wiltshire’s makes me wonder how long before the more deranged Leavers start giving Scotland the same smearing treatment as they’ve given the EU over the years.
It’s like a lot of people need something to hate/blame.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/09/2019 19:27

We voted to leave the EU and should have done so already, leaving in October is what people want.
A GE is necessary and if people vote for Boris they that is what they want.
But not sure how it will affect the housing market we still have a shortage of houses and high demand, so prices will probably keep going up.

Nothing wrong with ID cards, I have a drivers license and a passport, one more wont make any difference. Lots of countries have them.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:27

LoueyLou I voted remain 😂 if Scotland want to leave and be independent that’s up to them, it will be a shame but all I’m saying is there will some benefits to England if they do leave.

Theworldisfullofgs · 29/09/2019 19:30

I'm people. It's not what I want.
I wish some leavers would stop generalizing.

OP posts:
larrygrylls · 29/09/2019 19:32

My bet is Brexit will either happen with a (bad) deal or it will not happen at all.

BJ (how apt) is a dead man walking following his defeat in the Supreme Court and his mayoral scandal (lots in Sunday Times today).

With Parliament against no deal exit and Europe increasingly frightened of it, I think a way will be found to thwart it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/09/2019 19:33

When the economy tanks and jobs are lost, house prices will not go up.

MaverickSnoopy · 29/09/2019 19:36

If people vote for Boris that is what they want.

Um no. I don't want to vote conservative but I can't vote for Corbyn. I know it's the party we vote for but I can't honestly vote labour with him running the party, as much as I want to. So I've reached a stalemate.

My DH has so far predicted everything that will happened from the referendum vote to Boris taking the lead. He is adamant we won't leave the EU. I hope he's right.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 29/09/2019 19:38

I’m with your husband😭

No deal and we’ll crash out
Extension, and Bojo will win election.

I’m scared shitless. Hard right government could introduce:

Return of capital punishment
No infrastructure investment
Marginalisation of minorities
Demonisation of homosexuality

I wish l didn’t think like this, but l do😭
