Leavers appear to be deliberately confusing no deal and leaving. And this dishonest, lying govt keeps reproducing this confusion.

Femi reminded us that Labour 2017 specifically ruled out no deal in it's manifesto. So recent Parl. action is entirely consistent with this 'promise'.

Random18 · 27/09/2019 09:14

Mystery do you think it was right that you got fo vote but EU citizens who have made Britain their permanent home and paid taxes did not?

BTW I am not saying you shouldn't have had the right to vote if.you were living in the UK at the time.

MysteryTripAgain · 27/09/2019 09:15

You don't get to dick about with my country for your fantasy

And which Country do you consider to be "yours"?

Be careful what you says as Yadid might be reading.

jasjas1973 · 27/09/2019 09:15

If Remain is on the ballot & exceeds the parameters set by the 2016 leave win, then it will be valid

Otherwise, it will not have 'beaten' Leave at all

We need a democratic way out, HoC cannot or will not agree to no-deal, Mays deal or the best way forward - negotiate a EFTA/EAA/CU brexit.
You suspect another GE could result in a hung Parliament..... if so then we all need to compromise on trying to end this.

We can all bang on about winning or losing until the cows come home but it solves nothing.

Today the ONS has said that there simply is not the preparations in place for a no-deal brexit in regard to medicines, only 72% of pharma companies have 6 weeks of stock.
Why should any one pov risk worry or even death on UK patients?

Its crazy! had i known you 10 years ago, you would have been in total agreement, so unless you are prepared to put yourself or your kids health on the line then all this talk of no deal needs to to stop.

DustyDiamond · 27/09/2019 09:16

No, it's not.

They have repeatedly whipped against the WA.

The WA is the way to a deal.

bellinisurge · 27/09/2019 09:18

@MysteryTripAgain , my country is the UK. I have an Irish born Mum. Yad was jumped on by other Irish people for their nonsense.
You don't live here so what is any of this to you apart from an investment opportunity?

Borntobequiet, I agree with your post whole heartedly.

DustyDiamond · 27/09/2019 09:21

Tobias Elwood on Sky just now has laid it out very well:

The WA is only 'part 1' of Brexit
'Part 2' is the 'deal' (to be negotiated during the transition period)
Future relationship, be it 'no deal', EEA/EFTA, Canada-style, CU etc can be clearly laid out in GE manifestos & new Parliament can compromise where necessary.

The current row over passing WA is the dying throws of the Remain campaign - the last chance to stop Brexit.
(This last bit is my opinion, not Tobias's! 😂)

jasjas1973 · 27/09/2019 09:22

Brexit is an investment for future generations

Now i think you should be at the Apollo :)

There are too many unknown variables to state that. Its why long term economic forecasting is so inaccurate.

If we were genuinely interested in future generations, we'd start cooperating on tackling climate change but the drivers for brexit aren't interested in that at all.

Er...DD , yes it is. Labour said no to no deal in the manifesto. They are now enacting that.

ERG, you know, the true leavers, kept the govt from a deal. In those days, before BJ, you had a majority.

bellinisurge · 27/09/2019 09:29

@smilethoyourheartisbreaking , it's like "The Rapture " -google it No Deal fans and see how similar that it is to this nonsense.

Brexit is an investment for future generations
Good lord. I can't tell if you're being serious or not.
BTW my 20 year old (currently studying at Oxford) and all his friends think Brexit is a crock and are planning to move overseas post-studies. Thanks Brexiteers!

MysteryTripAgain · 27/09/2019 09:32

Mystery do you think it was right that you got to vote but EU citizens who have made Britain their permanent home and paid taxes did not?

They may have been living in the UK under an indefinite leave to remain visa which allows them to remain in UK forever. However, they may not be UK citizens as that is a separate application and can take up to 5 years to obtain.

Slovakia is in EU, but does not allow dual citizenship.

I have been a resident and a tax payer in many countries around the World, but have never been able to vote in those countries as I was not a citizen.

MrPan · 27/09/2019 09:33

"investment for future generations" - do people actually believe this stuff??

MockersthefeMANist · 27/09/2019 09:37

"Investment for future generations"

Well if that makes any kind of sense, we're talking massive state aid to rebuild the manufacturing industry wiped out under Thatcher. So many questions about that, but good luck with competing with the Chinese on volume production.

Parker231 · 27/09/2019 09:39

@Brabinger - my DT’s are at Uni. Neither plan on staying in the UK. DD is studying languages and wants to work at the EU and DS is doing engineering and is looking working for a company based in Singapore.

Yes they do, a shell fish exporter in Wales, despite having to pay 40k for a refrigerated lorry to travel to Spain if there is no deal, still says no-deal is the way to go.
She will also need an EU import licence which she won't get without a deal, so she and 50 other families will have no where to sell their catch too.

Amazingly, she then said brexit is an investment in her GC future!
Her stupidity knew no bounds!

This was on last nights ch4 news.

DustyDiamond · 27/09/2019 09:40

Er...DD , yes it is. Labour said no to no deal in the manifesto. They are now enacting that.

🙄

Labour could have moved towards a deal by voting for WA.

To vote against it kept no-deal on the table.

ERG, you know, the true leavers, kept the govt from a deal. In those days, before BJ, you had a majority.

Well, yes.
Obviously.
Because they are the hardline no-dealers.
Hence why TM needed Labour votes for WA to pass and therefore take no deal off the table^

bellinisurge · 27/09/2019 09:42

@smilethoyourheartisbreaking "The rapture " plays a role in some of the dickish side of prepping. Usually people who aren't very good at it. Some People assume a general prepper like me would be into that stupid shit.

MrPan · 27/09/2019 09:42

She seemed remarkably ill-informed about the requirements.
The question on twitter was "is she mad?" An answer was "she will be."

MysteryTripAgain · 27/09/2019 09:44

BTW my 20 year old (currently studying at Oxford) and all his friends think Brexit is a crock and are planning to move overseas post-studies

I remember my student days at Manchester. It was fashionable and trendy for many to be anti government, CND, climate conscious, vegetarian, vegan and lets all think about the plight of the third World.

Where are those do gooders now? That right, you worked out. They moved into; legal, banking, city trading for personal gain and seldom repeat anything about their student days of being bothered about the rest of the World.
