Extensions don’t help but will always be the preferred choice over a no deal exit. Thankfully the majority of MP’s agree.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:02

@DustyDiamond

Coalition of BP and Cons is the way out of the EU. Still have not seen evidence that the 400+ constituencies who voted leave have changed their minds.

With a majority of that size the Benny Hill Act can be overturned. No deal must left on the table otherwise EU can make outrageous demands.

DustyDiamond · 26/09/2019 08:04

I just thought it must be somewhere very posh if you can look out your window and think , 'its just like the HOC round here'

I'm single mum to two teenage boys - loud arguing and belligerence is a daily occurrence 😂

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:05

Thankfully the majority of MP’s agree

Those are the MPs who the voters will dismiss at the next GE. Hence the reason they don't want a GE.

Wonder if they can bring back capital punishment for treason?

DustyDiamond · 26/09/2019 08:08

YY Mystery - if a majority Tory govt (or Tory/BP alliance) then they can do obvs do that as soon as they want

If still no majority after GE though, at least there should be a focusing of minds & renewed vigour towards getting Brexit through

Parker231 · 26/09/2019 08:10

The EU haven’t made outrageous demands - they are still waiting for the UK to present there legally workable proposals.

Boris is all talk - he doesn’t have any answers.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:13

they are still waiting for the UK to present there legally workable proposals

That was why the WA was howled down. The wording allowed EU to reject all proposals without reason to keep UK locked into EU till the end of civilization.

Parker231 · 26/09/2019 08:15

The EU aren’t leaving. They hold the cards. The UK will have to compromise.

frumpety · 26/09/2019 08:15

No deal must left on the table otherwise EU can make outrageous demands.

Mystery such as ?

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:17

The UK will have to compromise

Or leave with no deal as allowed by Article 50 which was signed by all EU members in 2009.

frumpety · 26/09/2019 08:18

The wording allowed EU to reject all proposals without reason to keep UK locked into EU till the end of civilization.

You really are very good at this, have you thought about a MLM at all ? I reckon you would smash it, Hun Wink

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:18

@frumpety

Anything they wish.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:19

And MLM is ?

Parker231 · 26/09/2019 08:23

Mystery - very time you post about leaving with a no deal, I realise you don’t understand the implications to trade, the economy and individuals.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 26/09/2019 08:23

However resigning oneself to feeling brexit won't be done is also accepting we do not live in a democracy anymore

We don’t, look at what remainers are doing to stop brexit. Running to the courts every 5 minutes to slap some condition on the whole process. Boris may well be using strong language but he’s right.

We are living in very strange times. And not just brexit related.
I have a few feminist friends who were die hard labour supporters, campaigned all their lives for equal rights, but now feel thrown aside. They’re no longer useful or fashionable and have no idea which party represents them anymore.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 08:52

I realise you don’t understand the implications to trade, the economy and individuals

Leaving with a deal that is fair is better than no deal. So far there has been no fair deal.

The WA that May tried to get through the back door by trying to conceal the legal advise was rubbish. That would have allowed EU to lock UK into EU till the end of civilization.

So Johnson has taken an alternative approach which is;

No backstop = deal

Backstop = no deal

Both Germany and Japan were flattened in WWII, but they came back to be strong through trade.

South Korea after the war with US came back from being country whose GDP/capita was lower than that of Somalia, but they came back to be successful through trade.

DustyDiamond · 26/09/2019 09:30

Robust but polite exchange between Chukka & IDS just now on Sky (Adam Boulton tried & failed to rile them up into an argument)

Perfectly illustrated why nothing will change with an extension & a GE is the only route fwd.

IDS said (like BJ etc) he voted for WA on 3rd attempt because he realised was only way to get Brexit. Chukka explicit that he & Lib Dem would not vote for any deal as they don't want brexit; ERG obvs won't vote for WA as they only want no deal; Labour won't vote through any 'Tory deal' and obvs SNP won't back any deal either.

This current Parliament is paralysed & cannot move forward in any direction other than eternal pointless extensions.

A GE offers the only way for a conclusion. It's the only option now.

Parker231 · 26/09/2019 09:40

I agree that a GE is the only way forward but only when a no deal exit at the end of October is off the table.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 09:44

@parker231

The Benn Act only take extension to Jan 2020. Also assumes EU agree to extend.

GE favours BP and Cons coalition based on polls. What's to stop them from leaving with no deal if they have a majority? That places UK in same position as before. So extensions don't achieve much.

Random18 · 26/09/2019 09:49

A 5 year old child threatened.

MPs scared for their lives.

A PM that deliberately stokes tensions and hatred.

A PM that does not respect democracy.

Yet you come here and you support a sociopath.

I don't care if we Brexit anymore, I do care that this man cannot win. Him, Dominic Cummings, Trump and Bannan can not destroy this country.

If we really need to Brexit, let's do it but let's do it with a Deal - May's Deal.

Let's get a referendum, let's get May's deal put forward and let's vote for it.

And then we can start afresh and heal this country.

secondchapter · 26/09/2019 09:52

No deal is the legal default. If we had left in March with no deal, we could have had a general election by now and got some sense back in the house of Commons and got the country functioning again. I despair.

MysteryTripAgain · 26/09/2019 09:59

If we really need to Brexit, let's do it but let's do it with a Deal - May's Deal

May's deal was not Brexit. Hence kicked out 3 times. Largest objection came from Labour.

MPs primary task is to preserve democracy. Their attempt to block brexit is not democracy.

I have relatives and parents in UK so hopefully there are no troubles. However, failure to deliver a vote will likely have repercussions.

Random18 · 26/09/2019 10:08

Mystery so you don't actually live in the UK?

But you are banging on to me about how May's deal was not Brexit.

There is no Brexit whatsoever that will not result in the UK becoming a Rule Taker and not a rule maker.

May's Deal was a Withdrawal agreement with a Political declaration.

There was then still the discussions to happen about what Brexit would actually look like.

I do not want No Deal as my family, my friends, my neighbours will suffer as a result of it.

I want my country back!!! And that statement stands whether we Brexit with a deal or remain.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 26/09/2019 11:15

So the latest remainer tactic is to say "you cant keep trying to take us out of the EU because people are saying nasty things about me and its not fair, I am upset".

So predictable. People are angry and saying harsh things because 3 years ago parliament promised to act on whatever the people decided. And 17.4 million people said "get us out of the EU".

MPs have lied to us and if they dont like people saying you have betrayed us, its because you have dam well betrayed us. Take responsibility for your lies.

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 26/09/2019 12:38

"3 years ago parliament promised to act on whatever the people decided"

incorrect.

The executive promised to act, which they did not have the authority to do. Parliament only agreed to an indicative referendum.
