Exactly that.

To the average Joe on the street, they may not have thought it may affect their job.
Even for those who trade daily with the EU
Remainers seem to be constantly poo pooed.
Its been said on these threads before that Leavers would rather leave with No Deal and still brazenly say that this is what they wanted all along, rather than admit that belonging to the EU never really crossed their mind on a daily basis. Or that they were lied to.

The UK has been divided since the Referendum in 2016. Personally, I've been gutted. I had a fellow parent the day after tell me he was 'Buzzing' at the result. I'm sorry to say I think his reasons were misguided.

My own personal experience may be biased, but I give talks to schools. And I have nothing to gain from this.
Most people agree that bees need to be saved. The EU have played a crucial role in banning neoincotinoid pesticides from being used. The UK will overturn this rule and let farmers use whatever they like. This is a massive deal. This will kill bees. And it will happen overnight. Not to mention other things like the Domestic abusive bill being abandoned.

I'm keen to know why anyone would post union Jack flags and just claim that they want their country back. Aside from racial elements. I really want to know what people seriously think we can gain from this total shit storm.

dont talk about how brexit has fucked up your job, it annoys the twinkles.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2019 17:40

My epilepsy meds are already limited because of Brexit

oh youre not allowed to say that. thats goady. the twinkles will get upset with you.

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 17:42

@thewinckles - I’m assuming you haven’t seen the reports by the BMA and other medical organisations .

What information do you have about post Brexit and medical supplies?

KennDodd · 16/09/2019 17:43

@thetwinkles

Do you ever think 'what if the experts are right and I'm wrong?'

That is of course ignoring all the things that already HAVE happened as a direct result of Brexit, like my colleagues losing their jobs. I'm taking about predictions, for example Yellowhammer, the peace in NI and predicted medicine shortages and affect on the economy.

Anothernotherone · 16/09/2019 18:01

ThatCurlyGirl wow that's a seriously rubbish situation? I admit I was assuming that you "only" (if you see what I mean) had medication controlled epilepsy and with your medication were otherwise in good health - if that were the case moving would have potentially made pragmatic sense.

AutumnCrow · 16/09/2019 18:06

DON'T UPSET THE.TWINKLE IT IS HURTY WURTY

Anothernotherone · 16/09/2019 18:09

ThatCurlyGirl sorry misplaced ? Should be an ! In my last post.

I was posing to both you and Cbeebiesismyworld - she has a daughter who's diabetes medication is impacted.

Moving might sound mad, but if a parent/ spouse is in a position to find work in one of the EU countries which allows you to start paying into and receiving medical care from a state health insurance scheme immediately upon taking up residence and work it might be worth considering for nuclear families with a life saving medication dependent member or individuals able and willing to work as long as they have their medication...

thetwinkles · 16/09/2019 18:13

Wow just wow HmmConfused

AutumnCrow · 16/09/2019 18:16

Wow just wow to you too, lady

AutumnCrow · 16/09/2019 18:17

This is fuuuuuun because it's all going to be fiiiiiiiine, right?

Songsofexperience · 16/09/2019 18:19

Goad = to provoke or annoy....this topic will always provoke a reaction in the current political climate!

We're not talking about causing an emotional reaction here. We're talking about provoking actual death, avoidable death. Politically sanctioned deaths for purely political gains.

Leapyearlover · 16/09/2019 18:19

If they're so bothered about the democratic rights of the British people why aren't they frothing about the rights of fellow Britons in the EU being taken away and the fact that we didn't have a vote in the Ref?
Bcause we are all traitors to the motherland!!

Cittadina · 16/09/2019 18:23

@thetwinkles. You are being disrespectful not just to all the posters in this thread whose lives are deeply affected by Brexit, but to all people in NI, all people who will need medicine, all businesses who need the single market to function, all arts organisations that need the free circulation of talent and artifacts, all the1.2 million UK people that live in the EU and the 3 million of EU citizens who live in the UK... congratulations that's a rather large amount to people to upset with a post. Have a shower of biscuits 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪 to dunk into your tepid lager with your hairy hands.

www.tuc.org.uk/news/no-deal-brexit-could-devastate-nhs-health-union-leaders-warn

I suggest everyone reads this. It’s by medical experts who know what they are talking about.

AuldAlliance · 16/09/2019 18:25

thetwinkles
It is not goady to describe current reality, however unpalatable it may seem to some.

It is deeply disrespectful to come onto a thread where people are describing actual job losses, shortages of medicines and healthcare staff, families whose lives have been turned upside down, etc. and claim they are being goady because you are convinced, without any evidence and contrary to expert opinions and to evidence from those confronting the issues, that it'll all be OK.
Especially if you then demand that those people "let the man do his job". That "man" being an avowed liar who has stated that he is considering breaking the law, and whom no one on MN is preventing from working. And "the job" being a direct route to redundancies, serious economic turmoil, and likely deaths.

It's sad that such distinctions need to be made. But made they must.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/09/2019 18:26

Drug supplies will be fine - those with serious need, cancer, diabetes etc will take priority

You know absolutely fuck all about medicines supply chains, so why do you think it’s OK to post this kind of fuckwittery to people who are afraid for their lives, and the lives of their patients?

wonkylegs · 16/09/2019 18:27

I know that it's now fashionable not to 'believe in experts' but I prefer that my analysis is based on 'experts' rather than politicians with a wing and prayer who have actually been proven to be liars on several occasions already
Logically whatever you believe in or out you must realise that it's going to be a rough ride.

AutumnCrow · 16/09/2019 18:28

I am now running around three pharmacy chains again to get one prescription filled. Two other meds are on that list that are essential. I have a pretty grim outlook without them.

So that's specifically how Brexit is affecting me, already.

I'm already looking at sourcing them via friends in the EU, bless 'em. Do other posters have that option? We may need some sort of 'chain' system.

DonnatellaLyman · 16/09/2019 18:28

I’m scared that a child will come into my department with life threatening diabetes/allergy and we won’t have the medications to treat them.

I’m worried about children with rare cancers who are in European clinical trials.

I’m worried about my friends and colleagues from EU countries, what their rights will be after Brexit and what that means for staffing in the NHS and other essential services.

I’m hoping there won’t be a return of the violence in NI and that my Northern Irish friends will be safe.

For me personally - I suppose the same as everyone else - the economic impact and therefore public services, difficulty visiting other European countries, food shortages, the possible revolution of human/workers rights laws.

pointythings · 16/09/2019 18:38

The hospital Trust I work for has lost approximately half a million in research funding because major international clinical trials have chosen not to run in the UK...

Lex234 · 16/09/2019 18:44

Social care perspective: not only medicines concern me but other essential medical supplies, such as continence supplies, devices etc. Many of these do come from EU. It is also very difficult to get a straight answer as to what reasonable steps to take right now in case of no deal. The lack of clear guidance is making contingency planning difficult.

Choufleur · 16/09/2019 18:47

Falling pound, higher food prices, less food choice, lack of ability to move easily to another European country (I have lived abroad in the past although it’s not on the cards any time soon the option will still be removed). Just something that will happen for starters

Mamamia456 · 16/09/2019 18:54

How come an on line pharmacy has got a list of medication that may be at risk of shortage but nobody else has?

I am on life saving medication but haven't had any problem getting mine.

Lucindaa · 16/09/2019 18:56

@ConorMcGregorsChin

Was made redundant as our clients refused to invest in the UK operations due to Brexit uncertainty and in order to mitigate the risks moving operations to mainland Europe.

Angry
AutumnCrow · 16/09/2019 18:59

@Mamamia456 why don't you ask Prime Minister Johnson?
