Exactly that.

To the average Joe on the street, they may not have thought it may affect their job.
Even for those who trade daily with the EU
Remainers seem to be constantly poo pooed.
Its been said on these threads before that Leavers would rather leave with No Deal and still brazenly say that this is what they wanted all along, rather than admit that belonging to the EU never really crossed their mind on a daily basis. Or that they were lied to.

The UK has been divided since the Referendum in 2016. Personally, I've been gutted. I had a fellow parent the day after tell me he was 'Buzzing' at the result. I'm sorry to say I think his reasons were misguided.

My own personal experience may be biased, but I give talks to schools. And I have nothing to gain from this.
Most people agree that bees need to be saved. The EU have played a crucial role in banning neoincotinoid pesticides from being used. The UK will overturn this rule and let farmers use whatever they like. This is a massive deal. This will kill bees. And it will happen overnight. Not to mention other things like the Domestic abusive bill being abandoned.

I'm keen to know why anyone would post union Jack flags and just claim that they want their country back. Aside from racial elements. I really want to know what people seriously think we can gain from this total shit storm.

I'm sick of seeing goady Brexit threads, just enough Hmm

Peregrina · 16/09/2019 15:19

Hide them then - no one is forcing you to read them.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 16/09/2019 15:27

Yes Cadbury. Hide the Brexit topic. It's very easy to do.
I posted this (In the Brexit topic) as I wanted to know about people's personal experiences. It's actually turned out to be rather sad.

But as far as goady is concerned. I actually think it's the least goady Brexit thread I've seen recently. Certainly nobody gloating here about illness and employment / family crises.

Your post, however, does come across as goady. And extremely dismissive.

@Cbeebiesismyworld

Make sure you have enough money for a plane ticket to the Netherlands (or some other country with the same laws). They'll have to treat her with insulin in a hospital (or arrange some) since it is a life threatening disease. I don't know how it's arrange insurance wise but that can't be a reason to turn someone away if their life is in danger.

BunchMunch · 16/09/2019 15:35

Just looked at that drug shortage list - it's from an online pharmacist! Is that the correct one? As my reflux med (Lansoprazole) is on the list, but the same website is selling them at £16 for 56 (2 months supply - cheaper than prescription cost.)

derxa · 16/09/2019 15:41

ThatCurlyGirl · 16/09/2019 15:55

@CadburysCremeSmeggs

As I said earlier I don't think these threads are goady if posters are willing to actually hear other people's opinion.

My epilepsy meds are already limited because of Brexit. I am therefore more likely to suffer a fatal tonic clonic seizure in the next few months. Do you think I'm scaremongering? Because I'm not - me and thousands like me are already being told that as a direct result of the situation we are in, we may not have access to our medication. Fact.

That isn't what might happen it is already happening. Not wanting to hear that by hiding threads and avoiding hearing other people's opinions and real life experience is your choice but to me it doesn't seem like a very reasonable one.

I don't want people who are either pro or con Brexit to hide threads because I think it is fundamentally important to have access to information that informs you of other people's experience. On both sides.

I hope that you and yours don't have it develop a life threatening illness and have to suffer the fear that me and thousands of other people have to at as a direct result of this situation.

ThatCurlyGirl · 16/09/2019 15:57

@Cbeebiesismyworld

Poor you I can't imagine how scary that must be. My medication is already limited due to Brexit but it must be a million times worse to feel your child is in danger 😔

We can't stockpile so I'm not sure what the outcome will be. One bad seizure could be it for me. It's terrifying.

ThatCurlyGirl · 16/09/2019 15:59

Edit - my post should have said

Because I'm not - me and thousands like me are already being told that as a direct result of the situation we are in, we may WILL not have access to our medication. Fact.

CactusAndCacti · 16/09/2019 16:00

This thread is not goady. It is reality.

Seriously the truth is smacking people in the face and some are still trying to deny it.

Bearbehind · 16/09/2019 16:02

I'm sick of seeing goady Brexit threads, just enough

On what planet could somebody read this thread and deem it ‘goady’

These are people listing things that are actually happy to them because of Brexit.

Bearbehind · 16/09/2019 16:03

Happening not happy

KennDodd · 16/09/2019 16:14

@Peregrina

My Danish dentist has left too. He always planned to retire back to Denmark but has gone five years earlier than he would have done. His wife was a Doctor, his daughter did medical research. All lost to the UK. Well done Leavers.
I follow Vote Leave on Facebook. Many, many Leave voters (including my mum) will be celebrating the fact these people have left, getting foreigners out was their main aim.

As an aside my excellent Bulgarian dentist has left as well.

wonkylegs · 16/09/2019 16:15

I think personally we will be worse off: rising prices/ disrupted supply chain for medication (seriously worries me as the ones I rely on for my serious long term condition are all manufactured in Europe) and food
I think that it will affect our jobs - DH is NHS and they are already suffering posts being unfilled due to European staff leaving which impacts an already overpressured trust with a lack of finances and resources, I work in construction and generally the weak pound, and lack of spare cash to invest are already having an impact with projects being scaled back or even put off, shortage of workers was a problem before they cut off free movement, we are also worried about the flow of materials impacting on project progress.
I think it will affect my mums social care - staffing and flow of medication, plus the problems with our economy will impact on resources available (to be fair they are already fairly shit - really not looking forward to them getting worse)
As with social care - poor economy will have an impact on my kids education- resources are already shit another recession is going to put them in the toilet.

But we will be ultimately ok because we are relatively well off and both DH and I have professions that allow us to easily work elsewhere if we decided that it got too much (we already have offers)

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2019 16:17

I'm sick of seeing goady Brexit threads, just enough

you dont want to see people talk about how brexit is affecting them?

jeez, look away then.Angry

KennDodd · 16/09/2019 16:31

Personally I think if a single person dies (oh, two women already have) as a direct result of brexit politicians who promoted and managed this should face manslaughter charges. They were told what it would be like. Leave voters should own the consequences as well, after all, how many times have we heard that they knew what they voter for, well, this is it, this is what you voted for.

Anothernotherone · 16/09/2019 16:42

ThatCurlyGirl and Cbeebiesismyworld is actually leaving the country remotely possible? Life threatening medical situations sound like pretty much the best motivation to move, and in some EU countries if you can work at all you'll be eligible for free at the point of use healthcare as soon as you start working and paying compulsory % of salary PAYE type health insurance - children are insured for free with a parent and a dependent spouse can be too, only one parent needs to find work immediately...

ThatCurlyGirl · 16/09/2019 17:02

I do appreciate the sentiment @Anothernotherone (genuinely I do) and if I was well I would absolutely consider this.

But...

I worked my arse off for 10+ years since graduating, set up a successful business employing other people, and then had a catastrophic car crash which has left me disabled including epilepsy which I require twice daily controlled and very strong meds for that I now can only get monthly due to Brexit - It's very likely there will be a gap in my medication which will cause me to have seizures that are life threatening.

Ive paid upwards of £20k tax a year for the business (plus personal tax, employee tax etc) that I have run for the last 6 years but had to close after the accident which I was obviously gutted about.

At the moment I'm not employable because I am unable to work, I felt (stupidly) guilty about this until I added up my taxes for the last 10 years and processed the fact the accident wasn't my fault. I hate that I can't work.

I still haven't claimed disability until this week (18 months after my accident) because I have been too proud and considered benefits something other people need more than me. But now I do need them.

I've used up my savings, I don't have family who can loan me money (as they don't have any) but I am currently living at my mums which is a huge blessing.

I simply cannot afford to move, let alone to another country. It's humbling, terrifying, frustrating and there is no simple solution. It's just reality for many of us.

I can't imagine what it's like for people with kids who are so severely ill that parents cannot work as they provide full time care, as there will be nowhere else for them to go.

It's really, really scary 😔

ThatCurlyGirl · 16/09/2019 17:03

@Anothernotherone

Sorry just to clarify I am not married or living with a partner and have no children.

thetwinkles · 16/09/2019 17:28

Yep goady, veiled goady but all the same.

Drug supplies will be fine - those with serious need, cancer, diabetes etc will take priority.

For goodness sake let the man do his job, the country voted to leave and that we must do.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2019 17:32

to clarify, you think people discussing the affects of brexit are 'being goady'?

^ this is the absolute state we're in.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2019 17:34

"drug supplies will be fine" says thick person on the internet who has no fecking idea about anything.

thetwinkles · 16/09/2019 17:35

Goad = to provoke or annoy....this topic will always provoke a reaction in the current political climate!

thetwinkles · 16/09/2019 17:35

Oh and there we go @Helmetbymidnight

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2019 17:37

you think people discussing the affects of brexit are being goady?

i think the people who know f-all telling them to shut up are worse than goady.
