Exactly that.

To the average Joe on the street, they may not have thought it may affect their job.
Even for those who trade daily with the EU
Remainers seem to be constantly poo pooed.
Its been said on these threads before that Leavers would rather leave with No Deal and still brazenly say that this is what they wanted all along, rather than admit that belonging to the EU never really crossed their mind on a daily basis. Or that they were lied to.

The UK has been divided since the Referendum in 2016. Personally, I've been gutted. I had a fellow parent the day after tell me he was 'Buzzing' at the result. I'm sorry to say I think his reasons were misguided.

My own personal experience may be biased, but I give talks to schools. And I have nothing to gain from this.
Most people agree that bees need to be saved. The EU have played a crucial role in banning neoincotinoid pesticides from being used. The UK will overturn this rule and let farmers use whatever they like. This is a massive deal. This will kill bees. And it will happen overnight. Not to mention other things like the Domestic abusive bill being abandoned.

I'm keen to know why anyone would post union Jack flags and just claim that they want their country back. Aside from racial elements. I really want to know what people seriously think we can gain from this total shit storm.

Unsure at the moment. I feel quite detached from it all to be honest. It seems to be the wealthier middle class people who voted remain who seem to be the most worried and I can’t relate to a lot of them. I know a lot of people i know feel the same.
I do however feel desperately sad for those of you who have medical conditions and who are frightened for the future over medications and such.

RainbowMum11 · 15/09/2019 20:50

Thankfully no health issues or medication requirements other than my antidepressants; however I have already been made redundant (directly due to Brexit because my job will apparently now be done by someone in Spain!).

Mondy · 15/09/2019 20:54

I have a condition that requires medication that may well be hard to find after Brexit.

My small business (which I set up as I lost my job due to my mental health, being self-employed is easier on my mental health) relies on tariff-free imports from Germany.

My lovely and considerate Polish neighbour may leave.

Things will go to utter sh1t.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 20:55

I'm still quite amazed at how some are feeling. But thanks to Pennyjane89 for your honesty and for your empathy towards the poor.

OP posts:
ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 20:59

Sorry RainbowMum11
I'm surprised you don't feel more aggrieved
Not that I want to promote any kind of divide. I just hoped that my desire to stay in the EU somehow signified a union of sorts that so far, a lot of folk seem to identify with.

OP posts:
ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 21:02

@Money sorry. It's shit. And I hope you can recover from this. My ex boyfriend and his family who I remained very good friends with are Polish. They have already gone
Its crap. In so many ways
As this thread has shown x

My medication may not get to the UK. It's not life saving, but very life improving. You are also not supposed to suddenly come off it, and withdrawal symptoms can be nasty. I may not be able work without taking this medication. I have requested my repeat prescription early so I have a supply, but I feel bad because if everyone does that, then there will be a shortage.

inwood · 15/09/2019 21:03

No real idea, wrk is stalling (construction) not sure what the fall out will be, my dog's medication may not be available but ice stocked up.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:05

No one knows how it will affect them.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 21:06

So many negatives that we are seeing already. I do wonder that the other 50% or so of the population are seeing as positives in this.

OP posts:
GorkyMcPorky · 15/09/2019 21:10

I'm truly sorry for you @Rodent01 and anyone in a similar position. I know how hard it was to get drugs for my mum without Brexit. I think BlowJob should be held accountable for anyone whose health is compromised by his gamble.

Personally, I have a 60 mile daily commute and I'm worried about the cost of fuel.

KennDodd · 15/09/2019 21:11

Well I didn't lose my job, some of my colleagues did, direct result of Brexit. No health worries in my family but I do worry dreadfully about a return to violence in NI and the increase in racism.

I can't think of a single benefit of Brexit, there must be some though otherwise why would otherwise intelligent people want it?

Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:13

I think a huge problem with Brexit so far has been the invention of fictional characters of what leave voters and remain voters are by the media. It’s been very destructive and has led to a huge tribal divide and a lot of ignorance as to why people have voted the way they have. Brexit voters aren’t all stupid, fascist bigots and remain voters aren’t all leftie middle class hippies and greedy bankers. What happens once we leave Europe? No one knows - it could be bad, it could be good. It will probably be a bit of both.

KennDodd · 15/09/2019 21:13

@Wiltshirelass2019
I'm sorry but some people do know how it'll affect them because it's already having an affect.

Potentialmadcatlady · 15/09/2019 21:14

It’s likely that my child won’t get his lifesaving medicine- it’s already difficult to get and can’t be stockpiled...I also have no idea what will happen with his ongoing medical care...
I already can’t get my hrt tablets so I’m a basket case...
We have no idea what country we will ‘belong’ too... civil unrest and a return to major problems thanks to GFA being walked over is highly likely..
We have been told to expect price hikes in electricity and potential rolling electric cut offs...
So really not looking forward to it... we have been shafted by the rest of the country who doesn’t seem to give a shit about us

Cackleweb · 15/09/2019 21:17

I have rheumatoid arthritis. The disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (I was on methotrexate but have recently been moved to sulfasalazine at my own request) will not be affected by Brexit. However, the back up medication (for when the DMARD is having a little holiday) of pain killers (Naproxen and the codeine mixes) will be. Flare-ups will be more painful and damaging, my mobility will take a hit.

I know that my consultant and the wonderful team of specialist nurses will try their hardest to keep me as pain free and mobile as possible. But it's going to hurt...a lot.

My sister-in-law is a Type 1 diabetic. For her, I fear. I would gladly take the pain of swollen joints, its crippling nature, for her to get the insulin.

The pain won't kill me, but a lack of insulin will kill her. And that will break my heart.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:17

KennDodd if Brexit hasn’t happened yet, how has it affected anything? I voted remain myself so Brexit isn’t something I want I just don’t really understand how it can affect anything if we haven’t left yet? Genuine question I’m happy to be enlightened 😊

pointythings · 15/09/2019 21:22

In a way I am privileged - I am an EU citizen in the UK, and because I have a certain amount of wealth, I am in a position to sell up and leave - to my home country or another EU country. My DDs will come with me. But it will mean them leaving the place where they were born and have grown up, their friends and their family. It may mean their school qualifications not being accepted. Either way it will be massive upheaval.

But at least we have the option of getting out.

Anyone thinking a No Deal Brexit will turn out just fine with only a few minor hiccups is delusional.

RosiePosiePuddle · 15/09/2019 21:25

No one knows how it will affect them.

I hate when people say this. What they mean is "I can't imagine how it might effect me"

I am married to an EU national and decided to spend a few years in NZ, not expecting that this would happen.
We are planning on moving back to his country in the future. Will I be allowed in? If not, will he be allowed into the UK - probably not if they ever get around to organising the points-based visas. Although they probably won't so we will have to pay a small fortune to her in and earn half of what earn in NZ (true).

Also I have pension money in both the UK and European countries. I will probably have to pay tax on that which country I settle in, whereas i wouldn't have before.

I hate it when people minimise what may happen because they don't want to feel foolish for being duped or not thinking things through. It will be shit for many people, it's just a question of how shit. If you can't be bothered to think properly keep your opinions to yourself.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 21:26

@Wiltshirelass I'm sorry, but in light of those upthread dealing with cancer and potentially being without life saving medication, I have to call you out as being at the very least, an unfeeling human being. At worst, you do no belong on my thread, as you don't give a fucking shit about anyone but yourself.

Imagine you had diabetes, and depended on life saving meds on a daily basis?
Imagine you had cancer? Have you had chemotherapy?
Not nice.

Got anything else to say?

OP posts:
Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:27

RosiePosiePuddle in all your scenarios you say ‘probably’ so even you don’t know how it will affect you

Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:28

ConorMcGregorsChin sorry I haven’t read the thread!

Wiltshirelass2019 · 15/09/2019 21:28

Very sorry to people who are worrying about medication. Hopefully they won’t have to deal with any shortages xx

ConorMcGregorsChin · 15/09/2019 21:30

Cackleweb I have arthritis too. One minute I was a fully functioning human being, the next, I can barely open the door.
Too many people take life for granted.

OP posts:
BirdandSparrow · 15/09/2019 21:32

Nobody knows how it will affect them fuck off. There are consequences of leaving and we will expericence those consequences. Just because it won't affect you, doesn't mean it won't affect others.

I will become a third country national and need to apply for new paperwork to keep living in the EU country I've been for 20 years and where my children were born.
Nothing''s happened yet as we haven't left UK in EU citizens have already had to think about the consequnces of Brexit and make plans, like applying for citizenship in their EU country, sometimes this means having to renounce their UK passport.
