You had to google what you were freeing your children from because you couldn’t remember.

bellinisurge · 15/09/2019 21:10

Who the hell are you talking about? Been to Liverpool and Manchester recently? With all the nannies. And the EU gravy train jobs.

Septembersunrays · 15/09/2019 21:13

Grin bear!!

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 15/09/2019 21:20

If (and I agree it's a big if) the Lib Dems win the next election, then that means that they would have won the majority if seats based on their manifesto promise of scrapping Brexit.

The pearl clutchers screaming 'tyranny' should really, to use a Mumsnet phrase, give their heads a wobble. They sound ridiculous, and patently don't comprehend democracy in the slightest.

Finerumpus · 15/09/2019 21:25

Democracy doesn’t mean ignoring the votes of the majority. You might think it is an over reaction but I am appalled that politicians feel free to state they will do this. Whilst claiming they are defending democracy. The hypocrisy is jaw-dropping.

Jason118 · 16/09/2019 00:05

@Finerumpus but if they win they will be the majority, and a more recent one. Democracy isn't fixed in time ffs.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2019 06:28

The referendum was advisory, without legal status. Therefore the result doesn't to be implemented. And if it had been a binding referendum, the result would have been deemed void due to the illegality of the leave campaign.

The reason the Tories pushed on is because, for them, it was politically binding as they'd promised to implement the result.

I don't actually agree with the LD stance, however. And I'm a member. I'll be voting tactically in the GE, I think.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 16/09/2019 07:08

Good god @NoWordForFluffy how many brexit fairies have just died with your facts there?! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2019 07:19

All of them?! πŸ˜‚

jasjas1973 · 16/09/2019 07:25

The eu should not be chucking money at countries who cannot account for it

You re not really getting this are you?

The amounts in (some of) these reports do not add up, they are many times more than the EU 's entire budget, therefore the monies are not from the EU but from member states budgets.
You are treating the EU as a country.

You've also not addressed the point that EU specific fraud is 0.08% the budget - figures are from the article you posted.

Then again, maybe i should Google the answer? lol !

frumpety · 16/09/2019 07:35

Morning ! The Yorkshires were a success and dare I say better than usual , feeling quite proud of my fusion food Wink

September using the term tyranny when talking about the fluffy LD's is overkill don't you think ?
Why should 48% of the voting population not have a party that represents their view ? We are still here and we still think its a bad idea. Smile

placemats · 16/09/2019 09:41

Cameron took the country to a referendum because he wanted to placate and unite his party. That worked out well, not!

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 15:22

Extraordinary news conference from a furious Luxembourg PM Xavier Bettel:

"We have a Withdrawal Agreement and this has been accepted by the UK govt, Theresa May accepted the WA. Don't make it that the EU is the bad guy. It is not under my responsibility".

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 15:25

"We won't accept any agreement that goes against the Single Market or against the Good Friday Agreement."

Luxembourg PM @Xavier_Bettel says solidarity with Leo Varadkar "is strong" and Ireland will not be 'left on its own'.

MockersthefeMANist · 16/09/2019 16:08

It is one of the advantages of being a LibDem that you can promise your arse off about dancng unicorns in tutus if you are elected with a majority, because you know how much chance there is of that.

mummmy2017 · 16/09/2019 16:15

Anyone else think the EU are accepting there is no deal to do.

Bearbehind · 16/09/2019 16:28

Anyone else think the EU are accepting there is no deal to do.

mummmy have you read the thread about how Brexit is already and will continue to affect people.

Does it make you question your stance even for a second?

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 16:38

There is a deal to do - the WA. The MP’s have just got to accept it or we have an extension.

mummmy2017 · 16/09/2019 16:42

Did you hear the same broadcast as I did?
WA that got voted down is all there is on offer.
Nothing new to use extension to build on.
Europe feed up of it all, not their fault if we go.
No new written way forward.
Now using logic...
No New Deal.
We won't revoke.
No point in extension.
So what is left?

mummmy2017 · 16/09/2019 16:45

MPs are starting to be deselected.
These are not Brexit Leaver MPs, they are Remain.
The country is seeing how our voted members are NOT doing as we asked.
Wonder how they feel about job security now.

time4chocolate · 16/09/2019 16:47

Parker231 I would think MPs are less likely to vote for the WA now than before, they are busy setting out their stalls/preparing for a possible GE?

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 16:53

Mummmy - unless a deal is signed up next month, which is looking unlikely from the news coverage of today’s meeting, there will be an extension due to the Benn Bill.

mummmy2017 · 16/09/2019 16:57

Parker231
Your forgetting the most important point .
Just because you ask does not mean you get.

Parker231 · 16/09/2019 16:59

The EU does not want a no deal - see the article below - they understand the implications - I’m not sure you do? I don’t think they will agree to a three month extension but would propose two years.

Britain's exit from the European Union without a divorce agreement would be a disaster and must be ruled out, Europe's biggest business organisation said on Monday, as EU officials warn this worst-case scenario is increasingly likely.
After twice postponing the date of leaving the EU, Britain is now set to exit on Oct. 31, but the country's parliament and public are deeply divided over the terms of the divorce.
"No deal is a recipe for disaster and should be definitely ruled out. A disorderly, no deal exit of the UK would be extremely harmful for all sides. It would cause massive damage for citizens and businesses in the UK and on the continent alike," BusinessEurope Director General Markus Beyrer said.
BusinessEurope is a lobby group that speaks for all sizes of enterprises in 34 European countries, including Britain.
"The negative consequences would not be limited to the exit date but would drag on, endangering the fruitful and positive future relationship we all aim for," Beyrer said.

Bearbehind · 16/09/2019 17:02

Studiously avoiding my question mummmy
