Seeing rumours that Amber Rudd is to resign from the Cabinet. Is this the start of the exodus? Can’t believe so many have stayed after this week if they have any concern for their own longer term political careers..

Just seen the letter. Resigned the Conservative whip as well!

Just been reported that she has resigned on the BBC

SunnySomer · 07/09/2019 21:21

Yep, on bbc. Start of a flood?

SleepyKat · 07/09/2019 21:23

Fabulous. Surely boris's days are numbered?

Miljah · 07/09/2019 21:23

Wow. Just wow.

LaurieMarlow · 07/09/2019 21:23

I love that I saw this first on here Grin

It’s the right thing to do

RHTawneyonabus · 07/09/2019 21:24

Nothing on the guardian yet

LaurieMarlow · 07/09/2019 21:25

They're fact checking

Oakenbeach · 07/09/2019 21:26

Significant... I did wonder how long she would stay in Cabinet. I didn’t imagine she’d also simultaneously resign the whip though!

Paddybare · 07/09/2019 21:26

Boris has to enact a Plan B now. First job needs to be to fire Cummings, his plan/vision has spectacularly back-fired.

NataliaOsipova · 07/09/2019 21:26

“...assault on decency and democracy”. Wow!

Fantastic! They need to form and new (the real) Conservative party and surrender the other to the Brexit party.

OwnerofanAngryCat · 07/09/2019 21:27

Currently in the BBC home page, she said she couldn't stand by and see loyal conservatives expelled.

doublebarrellednurse · 07/09/2019 21:27

Has she resigned as a minister or MP? Or both?

Miljah · 07/09/2019 21:27

Yes, BoJo. Cummings magic has lost its lustre. Get rid, and get real.

chocolatespiders · 07/09/2019 21:28

BBC says it will be updating.. fingers crossed!

HotPenguin · 07/09/2019 21:29

Her resignation letter is on twitter, it doesn't pull any punches.

Northernlurker · 07/09/2019 21:29

I expect there are others, they will stagger it for the impact. Boris is isolated now.

Muddlingalongalone · 07/09/2019 21:30

I can't believe I saw this on mn before Twitter......
At least this way she doesn't have to be a major casualty on election night a la Portillo. Or can pop up in a safer seat at some point when all this madness has dissipated. I just don't trust any of them to do anything not self-serving these days.

Mugofhottea · 07/09/2019 21:30

Wow just wow

TheoriginalLEM · 07/09/2019 21:32

What is the shortest time anyone has been primeminister

NataliaOsipova · 07/09/2019 21:33

Has she resigned as a minister or MP? Or both?

As a minister...and resigned the Conservative whip!!

OP posts:
SleepyKat · 07/09/2019 21:33

She had quite a small majority at the last election didn't she? So really sticking her neck on the line. Good for her, her letter stating she doesn't believe boris is trying to seek a deal is telling.

OwnerofanAngryCat · 07/09/2019 21:34

Bbc sayShe's left the conservative party, but I'm assuming she will remain an mp.

NataliaOsipova · 07/09/2019 21:35

Does she have her eye on being part of a government of National unity? Seems like the only way out of this mess....
