I think Corbyn is going to get a lot more abuse if he keeps running away from this.

I think you need to understand that Corbyn is not going to work to Johnson’s timetable.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 19:49

We can't have a GE until the childish tantrum that is No Deal has been taken off the table
So how do you resolve that paradox? A new PM just puts it straight back on the table? Or are you suggesting Corbyn will never allow a GE?

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 19:49

@Walkingdeadfangirl - you’ve not read the earlier posts - there is legislation to prevent BJ acting recklessly. Posts on Twitter are talking about whether BJ will have to resign. His prorogation of Parliament is back firing on him!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 19:52

His idea of discipline has lost him his parliamentary majority. And Winston Churchill's grandson. And his own brother.
Regrettable but great leaders require great sacrifice. The stalemate had to be resolved and at the next GE the party will end up united around one goal.

Do you really want someone who behaves so disgustingly to be your MP? I hope not - he should have been kicked out!

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 19:53

"Or are you suggesting Corbyn will never allow a GE?"
No, he just won't join in Johnson's wank fest plans.
At least I hope not because I despise that shifty fecker too.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 19:55

I think you need to understand that Corbyn is not going to work to Johnson’s timetable
I think you will find he has already done a deal to vote for an election, on Monday. In exchange Boris allowed the surrender Bill to pass the HofL. Who is writing the timetable?

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 19:55

"Regrettable but great leaders require great sacrifice"
He's so great even his brother has dumped him.
Great leader? I think you have been watching too much N Korean telly.πŸ˜‚

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 19:57

You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.

ContinuityError · 05/09/2019 19:58

I think you’ll find he hasn’t.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 19:59

He's so great even his brother has dumped him
And what law says you have to have the same opinion as every member of your family? They disagree just like the Milibands. Big woop

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 20:00

Where’s the evidence that Corbyn is supporting a GE ?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 20:00

*I think you’ll find he hasn’t.

Well of course his party might not agree, he is not exactly strong on disipline. But it does seems to be Labour policy now.

time4chocolate · 05/09/2019 20:01

I think you need to understand that Corbyn is not going to work to Johnson’s timetable

So we all sit around twiddling our thumbs while we wait for a time when it’s convenient for JC - I think not.

I would love to know more about this pact that was made in the HOL something is definitely afoot there.

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 20:03

From The Independent

The prime minister cannot have an early election, because Labour MPs refuse to vote for it. He won't ask for a Brexit extension, as required to do by the backbench bill that will be law by Monday. It looks as if he will have to resign.
Boris Johnson could even announce his intention to resign - as prime minister but not as leader of the Conservative Party - on Monday. He would have to do it anyway by 19 October, which is the date set in Hilary Benn's bill by which whoever is prime minister would have to sign a letter to Donald Tusk, the EU president, asking for an extension to the Article 50 period.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 20:04

Where’s the evidence that Corbyn is supporting a GE
Labour MPs on the TV saying when the no deal legislation is in place (Monday) they will support a GE.

ContinuityError · 05/09/2019 20:04

Labour policy? Really? Somehow I can’t see anyone in Labour (Corbyn included) jeopardising Benn’s bill by going for a GE before the bill’s provisions are realised.

And Johnson does seem rather desperate for a GE right now.

ContinuityError · 05/09/2019 20:08

So we all sit around twiddling our thumbs while we wait for a time when it’s convenient for JC - I think not.

Well it’s not in Johnson’s gift to just call a GE is it?

Of course the Opposition will only call a VoNC when it is most beneficial to them Confused

time4chocolate · 05/09/2019 20:15

It’s going to be very difficult for him to go and ask for an extension, I’m not sure he is going to be able to do it (and I don’t blame him). He is certainly not going to want to report to MPs every 28 days of the extension period on his negotiations to date to be told by them that’s not good enough we want you to scurry back and get x,y & z amended which, from my understanding, is what the bill entails, like their bloody errand boy. What a joke.

I did read somewhere, but can’t remember where now, that the letter is already written but not sure if that’s just hearsay.

Parker who do you think wants the job now?

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 20:18

Your forgetting one thing
The EU know this won't end till the UK leave.
Another extension for what?
So we can vote Tory and still leave....

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 20:20

"You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette"
That's a fucking nasty thing to say

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 20:20

@time4chocolate - I’ve no idea - I don’t have much faith in senior politicians from either party.

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 20:23

@time4chocolate - I 100% want the UK to remain in the UK but my main concern is that there isn’t a no deal. I’m Belgian but have been living in the UK since I was five. However DH and I are now almost certain we’ll be leaving the UK. It’s no longer a country to be proud of and it’s not a comfortable place to be in as an EU citizen.

jasjas1973 · 05/09/2019 20:24

Sums it up

ContinuityError · 05/09/2019 20:33

It’s going to be very difficult for him to go and ask for an extension, I’m not sure he is going to be able to do it

Maybe his deputy will do it?
