Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Parker231 · 30/08/2019 10:53

It goes both ways on the criticism of posts. Earlier I was β€˜told off’ by an obviously leave supporter for politely asking questions about their thoughts on post Brexit and have been criticised for being an EU supporter (which I am 100%).

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 11:19

Bellini what do you mean damned if you do damned if you don’t?

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 11:22

It goes both ways on the criticism of posts.

Parker. It sure if that was addressed to me, but I have no problem with criticism of posts - it’s the joining forces to sneer about leave posters, with remain discussing them between themselves.
Do you think that’s acceptable?
However it’s been a successful method of seeing off leave posters from Brexit threads.

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 11:31

dapple I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post from you that’s about the actual subject of the thread - it’s always to moan about someone, usually me, and to generally stir the pot

You can’t stop people posting where they like, you can just ignore them if you don’t like what they’re saying but it would be nice if you actually contributed to the discussion at hand

Parker231 · 30/08/2019 11:39

@Dapplegrey - my comment was specifically directed to you but to @Autumnintheair who can’t or won’t acknowledge that a Remainer would want to know why a Leaver can’t provide any positives for me about our future.

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 11:44

Bellini you don’t ignore people if you don’t like what they’re saying and you are constantly moaning about other posters.
Do you think this thing of discussing leavers amongst yourselves in a sneering and disparaging way is acceptable?

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 11:48

PMSL - I think you’ve got your posters mixed up now dapple

Like I said, maybe if you joined in the actual discussion instead of just being here to police everyone, things would be nicer

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 11:53

Which posters have I mixed up Bear?

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 11:58

You mentioned what I’d said about ignoring people in a post addressed to bellini

My point is though that I’ve literally never seen you contribute to the actual discussion on these threads - not once. So whilst you might like some posters style, everyone else is here to discuss the topic, not just to pick at people

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 11:58

Might not like

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 12:00

I’d still like to know if Leavers do think we’re going to get no deal.

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 12:06

My apologies bear, so I did.
Why don’t you ignore my posts?

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 12:14

Because your posts don’t annoy me, I just don’t understand why you feel the need to stir the pot all the time whilst never, ever posting about the actual topic at hand

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 12:25

Bear they obviously do annoy you or you wouldn’t feel the need to tell me what you think I can and can’t post about.
Can I ask you a question as Bellini hasn’t answered?
Do you think the thing that happens on most Brexit threads of Remainers discussing leavers between themselves in sneering, sarcastic and disparaging terms acceptable?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 30/08/2019 12:27

I'm still trying to work out what we are taking back control of and no one is answering. Too busy bickering Hmm I thought a predominantly leaver thread might give some answers. Silly me.

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 12:28

To be fair dapple, no I don’t.

Sometimes people do end up talking about others in the third person if they are responding to questions or other posts for example but generally talking about others as if they’re not there is pretty bad form

Can I ask as question now - why do you obviously lurk on all these threads yet never contribute to the discussion and only pop up to moan at people?

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 12:32

Because as has been pointed out on several occasions this is a public forum and anyone can say what they want within (and sometimes without) the mumsnet talk guidelines.
Re your comment that it would be β€˜nicer’ if I discussed aspects of Brexit I don’t think the adjective β€˜nice’ can apply to these threads. I don’t think there has been a single thread which hasn’t ended up with insults being thrown.

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 12:43

Indeed, you can post what you like wherever you like - I just don’t understand the motivation of someone who only posts to stir up trouble and critique the posting style of other, and never to discuss the actual subject

It’s pretty much the opposite of β€˜nice’ - it’s purely antagonistic and will always result in conflict

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 12:45

All Brexit threads result in conflict. It’s an emotive subject.

Bearbehind · 30/08/2019 12:57

Yet, other than assuming you’re a Leaver, I have literally no idea what your views on it are as that’s not what you post about

bellinisurge · 30/08/2019 13:13

@Dapplegrey , I got bored and wandered off. Seeing as I get criticised for tagging people with my direct responses to them - as I have done several times below - I have no idea what you are talking about.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 30/08/2019 13:16

I'll give up then and gather that no one has a clue what taking back control means.

twofingerstoEverything · 30/08/2019 13:16

Dapple Do you think the thing that happens on most Brexit threads of Remainers discussing leavers between themselves in sneering, sarcastic and disparaging terms acceptable?
Why do you expect Remainers not to sneer/employ sarcasm/disparage people when they have been coming on Brexit threads for more than 3 yearss trying to get some insight into what - in the minds of Leavers - the tangible benefits of Brexit might be. I've been on these threads for years and have seen this question asked over and over. When an answer is provided, it usually refers to something that the EU did not inflict on us, but which is the result of our own government's policy, or exposes anti-immigrant sentiments. I feel quite entitled now to disparage or sneer at anyone who voted for Brexit and can't articulate the expected benefits, and who brushes aside concerns with a load of flannel about it being worth it 'in the long run'. I also feel entitled to sneer at all the MPs who have amply demonstrated their venality - particularly in the last few days - and who also haven't articulated any benefit. I am also happy to disparage MEPs who turn their backs in parliament like petulant infants, or anyone who applauds them for doing so. I'm very happy to be proved wrong, dapple. Why don't you be the one that is the exception rather than the rule, and tell us, say, five great things that we can look forward to after the end of October?

If you can't see why Remainers are still so angry, then you have your head in the sand or are seriously lacking in imagination.

Even on this thread, where leavers are whinging about not being able to chat in peace, there's nothing of any substance: just a load of 'back of the net...', 'so close now...' and other empty slogans. In other words, stuff that is worthy of a sneering and sarcastic response.

Dapplegrey · 30/08/2019 13:17

Bellini I mistakenly answered you rather than Bear.
