Beans, lentils with wholemeal pasta, rice, or couscous.

Wholemeal cereals, milk, cheese, tofu, nuts, seeds.

For B12 get fortified cereals and milk or supplements if vegan.

Watch your iodine if vegan too.

Hoping to shop tomorrow. If ds does not have another meltdown and refuse to go to his dad's. I need to be alone.

BlackeyedGruesome · 31/08/2019 21:21

I am lacking in tinned carrots, peas and sweetcorn. Oh and stationary for school.

I have found it hard to think whilst being shouted and sworn at and things have been left to the last minute.

BlackeyedGruesome · 31/08/2019 21:22

Got to wash his uniform and sew names in yet.

yolofish · 31/08/2019 21:37

tinned sweetcorn!! thanks gruesome I had forgotten about that, cant face tinned carrots or peas though. Tinned mushrooms are ok ish I think? or I could just get dried...

MarshmallowManiac · 31/08/2019 23:38

That's ok GoneWishing, it's only because I was concerned that the pharmacies might be really low on stock (or empty).

BlackeyedGruesome · 31/08/2019 23:42

Cellotape, landline, plumbers tape, radar key, (dd autistic scared of hand dryers) tinned carrots, sweetcorn, peas and mushrooms. Mushroom soup. As it will be winter maybe increase the percentage of tinned soup.

BlackeyedGruesome · 31/08/2019 23:44

Salt and squash from Sainsbury's.

Sort out fridge and restock. Use up crap from freezer.

Flamingo84 · 01/09/2019 08:19

Just had my online shop delivered and checked did a list of everything I’ve got.

I think I’m pretty much there but would like to get a bit more tinned fruit for DS and I need to top up my medicine cabinet. DH bought 6+ calpol instead of the baby version as he thought it meant 6 months not 6 years!

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 08:31

@flouncyfanny , is it Spa today!! Ooo excited distraction alert.
I'm making some greengage jam so that will pass the time nicely.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 08:47

Spa as in the F1? Is it going ahead after the awful crash yesterday?

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 08:57

That's what I wondered. In the old days, they used to still go ahead. I wonder if they will today after that poor guy died yesterday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2019 08:59

dh said they our giant sainsbury's was totally out of ibuprofen on friday. Not a single box of any kind.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2019 09:00

It was F2 not F1. Absolutely awful :(

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 09:02

When Senna died, Ratzenberger had died the day before and it went ahead. Deaths are thankfully so rare these days, but there must be a protocol for it.

Yesterday's crash was horrific. Absolutely hideous.

I've not seen shortages of any medication up here. I wonder if it's localised?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 09:04

I know it was the F2, but it's the same track / meet, so they must have considered whether to go ahead. Many of the F1 racers have raced with and were close to the poor guy who died.

HalloumiGus · 01/09/2019 09:15

Can anyone tell me if diesel is safer to store at home than petrol? And is 30l still the limit? It's the last piece of the jigsaw.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/09/2019 09:15

It's heartbreaking. They said they're going ahead because that risk is part of what they do. But it must make the drivers wary. Safety has improved so much that thankfully deaths and serious accidents are rare now. His poor family. Sad

I've noticed low stocks of ibuprofen and paracetamol where we are in Central Scotland.

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 09:21

@HalloumiGus , unless you live in a very rural area, I wouldn't store fuel outside your car's tank.
FWIW, I think diesel is more stable than petrol but I would seek advice off official websites about storing it if you live in a very rural area.

HalloumiGus · 01/09/2019 09:32

Just looked this up www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/petrol-storage-club-association.htm so 30l at home. Might store it at the far end of the garden in plastic tanks. We have a permanently shady bit there beside a wall.

I know what you're saying though Bellini.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 09:45

It looks quite straight forward to be able to store up to 275 litres though, if you wanted to.

In the initial days of F1, they actually expected to die. Which is insane, really.

F1 drivers must have really low blood pressure and not be excitable types too, as they wouldn't be able to drive that fast otherwise!

BlackeyedGruesome · 01/09/2019 16:52

Just sitting in the car recovering enough to unload the shopping.

There were a few offers that I have taken advantage of.

Black beans were 3 for £1.
My favourite stir in sauce was on offer.
Topped up the tinned carrots and peas, but not value sweetcorn as the shelves were bare.
Got my ridiculously expensive tins of water chestnuts and bamboo shoots for my birthday meal, and a trip back to the past, tinned strawberries that we always had for birthdays as there were no fresh strawberries in winter.

Topped up the cornflakes stash as that was running low. Still need Cheerios though, Morrisons had sold out.

Very expensive shop in total, but it was made up of things that were reduced in price.

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 16:59

Black beans is a SCORE!
