Brexit

Do you think we definitely WILL leave the EU on October 31st 2019?

As it says in the title really - do you think we will definitely leave the EU on that date or do you think we'll still be "in" on November 1st?

Also, do you think we will leave with a deal or without a deal - and will Boris still be PM by then?

I'm just wondering how people will think the next three months are going to pan out, basically.

Its lovely for you that you can Olivers , some of us are stuck on this green and pleasant land come what may. Hysterical ? nope not me. People getting all het up about 'freedom' possibly , people flinging themselves about the place and getting all red in the face about 'the will of the some people' probably, people not quite grasping the concept that No deal means still having to negotiate and agree the same stuff that is in the WA before agreeing a trade deal, definitely Smile

Peregrina · 06/08/2019 20:43

Things will play out and as long as the sun rises in the morning and the moon comes out at night and the world keeps turning then I will just work with what I have.
If worse comes to the worse I will just pack my bags and leave.

Which makes a number of assumptions - that you don't get sick and require medication which is in short supply. That you have somewhere to go to.

Doubletrouble99 · 06/08/2019 23:43

I think we will leave on the 31st Oct. I hope the Gov. will stand firm.

DP is very sick and needs medication. Even he would rather we leave without a deal than drag this on forever. In preparation for BREXIT which should have happened on 29th March his medication has already been reduced in what he thinks is preparation.
DD has an issue at the moment but can't even get listened to. The appointment at the doctors yesterday descended into a farce.
At least once we leave DP believes it can't get any worse and in another country there wouldn't be the rationing and we would have doctors who actually diagnose you

It is a big world out there, no one really has to stay in any one country.

The uk will likely leave without a deal then try and make a number of mini deals ASAP.

The financial sector got its no deal planning worked out already, as did flights, and some smaller "how it will be" deals have already been worked out.

People need to stop panicking. The uk is leaving and it won't be the end of the world far from it.

frumpety · 07/08/2019 07:27

We still need to sort out all the stuff that is in the WA before we start with the trade deal stuff though Janista IF we leave without a deal.

The problem with the willy waving stance of threatening no deal, is that at some point the threatened side thinks 'fuck it, let the buggers go', they have spent years preparing for it as an outcome, not one they prefer due to the financial impact, but one they have sensibly prepared for none the less. We are then in the position of negotiating with 27 pissed off countries who we have caused avoidable harm to, whilst simultaneously struggling to cope with the fact that we didn't spend years preparing for the scenario we threatened. I might be wrong but I am fairly sure that is not the best place to start negotiating anything from ?

PortLouis1996 · 07/08/2019 07:37

When both sides know there is money to be had negotiations go quickly and past will be forgotten.

USA nuked Japan, but they are big trade partners.

One of the big issues with Brexit is the need for some to win and come out on top at all costs so they can say

Nana nana, told you so

frumpety · 07/08/2019 07:51

PortLouis1996 is that you Donald ? Grin

PortLouis1996 · 07/08/2019 08:00

Not Donald, but a lot of this Brexit stuff is about point scoring.

frumpety · 07/08/2019 08:03

Point scoring in what way ?

Peregrina · 07/08/2019 08:03

but a lot of this Brexit stuff is about point scoring.

What a pity that real people have to get on with their lives and put a roof over their heads and food on the table, while Boris Johnson and friends indulge in their willy waving contests.

PortLouis1996 · 07/08/2019 08:04

Looks like flag waving contests from some on MN.

MyOtherProfile · 07/08/2019 08:08

And he's not worried about that? Good thing it's not insulin for T1 or he would be dead by now.

frumpety · 07/08/2019 08:09

Hang on a minute , when did the flags get handed out ? I never got one , I want one , can I have a nice blue one with a white rose on ?

MyOtherProfile · 07/08/2019 08:10

I'm so cross with Gove pronouncing that the EU won't negotiate like they're naughty children who won't toe the line. The EU said after May's deal that this was the final offer so we have known all along there's no more negotiation.

namechange34 · 07/08/2019 08:18

Oh well oliversmumsarmy's DH thinks things can't get worse so we can all rest easy Hmm

Peregrina · 07/08/2019 08:33

I am glad oliversmumsarmy isn't worried about medication. My DB is quite heavily dependent on a number of different pills and tablets, none of which are made in the UK. Life will be extremely difficult without them, and probably life shortening.

Since he didn't vote Leave he can't just tell himself, la, la, la - things will be OK.

TheElementsSong · 07/08/2019 08:46

Oh, did you miss the flag hand-out? 🇪🇺It was when all us Remainers got paid by Soros to be a fifth-column of traitors. Of course, we were very cheap to pay, because there's only one of us, name-changing infinitely and talking to ourselves here on MN Wink

bellinisurge · 07/08/2019 08:59

"USA nuked Japan, but they are big trade partners."
New depths of ignorance reached here.

TheElementsSong · 07/08/2019 09:01

New depths of ignorance reached here.

"Instead of being so negative about the effects of global thermonuclear war, we should be optimistically looking at the new opportunities that will arise from the smouldering uranious ruins."

bellinisurge · 07/08/2019 09:04

Not about the leaving @Janista , it's about No Deal. As you are in Australia, it doesn't affect you.

frumpety · 07/08/2019 09:13

And a rainbow one too, just because they are pretty Smile

Lord where are my manners , please and thank you

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/08/2019 10:57

In preparation for BREXIT which should have happened on 29th March his medication has already been reduced in what he thinks is preparation*

And he's not worried about that? Good thing it's not insulin for T1 or he would be dead by now

Is this another hysterical reaction

DP is type 1 diabetic and you are under the impression that all type 1 diabetics are dead now because of BREXIT

He also has cancer and takes antibiotics because he hasn't got a spleen.

I can assure you he is very much alive

Songsofexperience · 07/08/2019 11:01

At least once we leave DP believes it can't get any worse

It can and it will.
I'm sick and tired of the lethargic fatalism that allows the bad guys to win.

Songsofexperience · 07/08/2019 11:05

It is a big world out there, no one really has to stay in any one country.

Not so sure about that. Borders are coming up in more places or hardening because a lot of people around the world want them to. Moving anywhere WILL get much tougher very fast. That's what happens when nationalism wins.
