Do you think we definitely WILL leave the EU on October 31st 2019?

As it says in the title really - do you think we will definitely leave the EU on that date or do you think we'll still be "in" on November 1st?

Also, do you think we will leave with a deal or without a deal - and will Boris still be PM by then?

I'm just wondering how people will think the next three months are going to pan out, basically.

Your archaic and elitist attitude as if having money makes you somehow superior.

I am going off at a tangent here, but I get annoyed when I hear about 'High Net Worth' Individuals, as though they are made of a finer clay than the rest of us. Just call them 'moneyed' FFS.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 11/08/2019 10:04

Peregrina absolutely.

Actually, I'm on board with citizens living outside the UK having the right to vote, despite the fact that a lot of the things happening in the UK won't really affect them (I like the idea of having a "virtual" constituency with its own MP). But I'm also on board with non-citizens-but-ordinarily-resident people in the UK having the right to vote, because things that happen here will affect them.

This is a moment of national celebration and hopefully all can join in and put the divisions behind us 🍾 🇬🇧

LOLZ

The top 1% of taxpayers pay 27% of total income tax collected by HMRC. So can’t be said they don’t pay fair share.

It is the corporations such as Amazon and google that need to be chased for non payment

On the Purdah point earlier, The restrictions are on the civil service and local authorities. There are no restriction on the press.

It means that policy announcements and financial decisions (other than those needed to keep the country running) cannot be made during this time. It's done to try and prevent the incumbent party of Government having an inherent advantage via access to the machinery of Government.

Cailleach1 · 11/08/2019 10:41

Yes, I do. As I said on the other thread, it would force Ireland/EU to put up border checks. They they think they will waltz onwards without the backstop as it will be moot. Then I think Ireland may veto any future trade deal.

I could be wrong. -I'll say that quietly, so may family don't hear-

whyamidoingthis · 11/08/2019 10:58

@Cailleach1 - Then I think Ireland may veto any future trade deal.

There will be no trade deal without the backstop. The EU have been very clear on that.

NosyBe2006 · 11/08/2019 11:27

So trade between EU and UK is then on WTO. What you are referring to is deals developed beyond WTO. EU is a WTO member as is UK.

whyamidoingthis · 11/08/2019 11:46

@NosyBe2006 - So trade between EU and UK is then on WTO.

Obviously. I am clearly referring to a trade deal between the EU and the UK.

NosyBe2006 · 11/08/2019 11:56

Yes. Which EU will be keen to develop as since 1999 EU has had a trade surplus with UK. Chasing profitable customers away is not a good idea.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 11/08/2019 12:01

Chasing profitable customers away is not a good idea.

Promising the impossible, lying to the electorate and sticking to a corrupt result (as proven by the Leave campaign's dirty tricks) wasn't a good idea.

The EU protecting its own interests and those of it's member states over the stroppy one leaving and screeching abuse is a very good idea.

whyamidoingthis · 11/08/2019 12:08

I thought that most leavers had stopped spouting the "they need us more than we need them" nonsense. Obviously not.

Cailleach1 · 11/08/2019 12:31

NosyBe2006, vis a vis profitable trade with UK. People (Leavers) in the UK said that BMW etc. would be pushing Merkel et al on putting sales to the UK ahead of adhering to the rules of the single market.

It didn't happen. Quite the opposite. They said protecting the single market was more important to them.

PortiaCastis · 11/08/2019 12:36

Haaaa what utter bollocks. A great number of us didn't vote for economic suicide so we're not going to celebrate it are we now

Cailleach1 · 11/08/2019 12:39

Maybe the UK gov't and media now quite openly aspiring to be wreckers out to plunder will make other countries a little sceptical about intentions.

When you look at Labour, you have to shake your head and say 'of all the times'...

placemats · 11/08/2019 12:56

Personally I think Johnson is in danger of his waving his willy off.

He'll succumb like the rest of them.

So to answer your question. I do believe that there will be an extension. Possibly to May 2020. Then after an election.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 11/08/2019 12:58

Which nation? Because that wee emoji is a flag incorporating 3 of the 4 members of the UK in it. Not a national flag. So which nation? Because Scotland and NI won't be celebrating this shitshow, and many English and Welsh voters never wanted it either.

The divisions weren't put there by Remain voters, and the expectation that we'll all fall in line and move on gracefully from this absolute disgrace is laughable.

You don't get to create divisions and then dictate what comes next. You don't even get to dictate what your leave vote actually meant!

Fraggling · 11/08/2019 13:00

Not rtft

Yes we will leave no deal crash out

Boris, jacob and their wealthy mates will make £££ out of the chaos that results

Egghead68 · 11/08/2019 13:33

Yes we will leave no deal and then there will be an election.

It is all awful.

ombre123 · 11/08/2019 15:30

Nope, literally never been able to see brexit happening from the day that twat Cameron announced the referendum x

Peregrina · 12/08/2019 07:34

Did anyone expect Johnson to become PM? Especially after he ran away from the task back in 2016?

placemats · 12/08/2019 08:54

Yes, I did, especially after he ran away in 2016.

Peregrina · 12/08/2019 09:08

placemats - do you have a crystal ball, and can tell us how long we have to endure him for? Wink

placemats · 12/08/2019 09:11

I predict that Johnson will not go ahead with a crashing out of Brexit. He simply doesn't have the crystal balls to do it.
