tobee Have a look at 'Britain Elects' either on twitter or their website. The results were coming through on twitter in a random order last night so not sure how easy it will be to find what you are looking for.

Peregrina
Unless we begin to address the widening inequality in this country then the problems, which Brexit are only a representation of, will continue to worsen.

And what on earth do they expect Farage's party to do for them? I have yet to get an answer out of a Leaver for this. Now as for the Titanic - guess who would make sure he was in the first lifeboat? And he won't be sacrificing his place for Ms Teenage Single Mum and her child.'

I know...
The two classes of Farage voters I know are either 'we are fed up of all the foreigners taking our jobs' types (my parents / in-laws)
OR, marginally more thoughtful..
'we feel left out / ignored / fed up of the Westminster bubble and want to make our point to the Tories'.
But voting for Brexit Party is a mistake.
Nige would elbow his own mother out of the way for the lifeboat :(

Caillieach1 The UUP and the DUP are opposites, bizarrely. Kennedy was a good MEP and I would suggest that the majority will be non transferable, some maybe to the DUP but the majority of the transferable votes to Alliance.

I do note that Alliance got most of the Green transferable votes.

I just love the Northern Ireland EU elections.

tobee

I'm in the North West and got my breakdown from the Manchester Evening News. I got this via search engine local breakdown northwest

DGRossetti · 27/05/2019 15:27

You say that like it's a Bad Thing.

Remember, for the top 50%, more inequality is good. Especially if they can be tricked into believing that they somehow deserve it. Makes it easier for them to send the other 50% to the workhouse, gallows or stake, depending what year Niges time machine stops at next time.

placemats · 27/05/2019 15:31

Diane Dodds DUP is the wife of the DUP leader Nigel Dodds. Keep it in the family!

tobee · 27/05/2019 15:35

Thanks placemats and Violet. We went libdem which is interesting because we're usually Conservative/Labour in our borough.

Incidentally, scrolling through, loving places like Oxford where Brexit Party didn't come 1st or 2nd etc.

HazardGhost · 27/05/2019 15:40

widening inequality

I hold my hands up that I am still wallowing so my judgement may be skewed to the dismal. I really don't think many people (people as in the public and politicans) actually care about the widening inequality. There'll be the odd lip service but meh... I've watched people watch others facing inequality and they seem to take a perverse delight in the suffering, thank god that's not me, I must be a better person than them.
Its interesting to see what none wallowers think because like I said perhaps my perception is skewed.

placemats · 27/05/2019 15:48

I'm really happy for Naomi Long, Alliance. She is such a good politician.

clairemcnam · 27/05/2019 15:51

I agree in thinking most people don't care about widening inequality. On MN I have seen many people arguing that of course they should vote for what benefits their family, even if it screws the poor and vulnerable. They don't actually care.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 15:57

It is down to transfers now, though. UUP preference unlikely to transfer much to SF or SDLP though. Maybe some to Alliance.

Long has been admirably resilient.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/05/2019 16:02

toobee the map on the BBC site is clickable and zoomable.

As long as you can convince enough people that they are the "right" sort (as in "we'll see you alright") then it's quite astounding/shocking/incredible/wonderful (delete as applicable) what you can get away with in their name. Windrush wasn't an accident, a one-off, or a regrettable oversight. It was merely a proof of concept project, signposting how far the government can go. And now they have the answer: as far as you like. No one will stop you.

Bad luck for the wring sort, of course, but hey - life like that. Now do keep quiet please, we won't be able to hear Boris.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 16:04

It will be interesting to see what the pattern is from Kennedy. Claire Bailey bit pee'd off that the Greens weren't given much airtime. Bad show bucks trend elsewhere, but politics still has different baggage.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 16:08

Of course, Mike Nesbitt was more SDLP friendly.

placemats · 27/05/2019 16:10

From the BBC NI website:

DUP Arlene Foster says that she would have preferred two unionists returned to the European Parliament.

"'Small u' unionists have clearly voted for the Alliance Party and they have to reflect on why that's the case," she says.

Like all protestants are automatically Unionists Arlene?

She adds that she hopes the newly-elected MEPs will not be sitting in their seats long.

I think Diane might have something to say about that!

PestyMachtubernahme · 27/05/2019 16:19

I love Arlene, send all the Alliance voters into the corner to reflect on their wrong doings.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 16:25

DUP over the line with 28K transfers from UUP. Dodds home first.

placemats · 27/05/2019 16:27

So 28,000 went to the DUP out of a total of 54,000. Interesting.

Dodds is now through. Her votes to be transferred.

Alliance got nearly 7,000. Also interesting.

Who will go next? TUV or the SDLP.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 16:29

SF still next at the moment, even if only got 73 votes transferred. Alliance still in third place with Ca. 7K transfers. TUV got Ca. 15K transfer votes.

DGRossetti · 27/05/2019 16:32

Meanwhile "The Saj" has thrown his hat into the ring.

Bless.

Quintella · 27/05/2019 16:35

'Small u' unionists have clearly voted for the Alliance Party and they have to reflect on why that's the case'

Grin

Yes, Arlene, they're the ones that need to reflect.

Oh Northern Ireland.

icannotremember · 27/05/2019 16:38

Thoroughly enjoying winding up a leaver friend this afternoon by texting him to commiserate on the defeat leavers have suffered. Especially enjoyed comparing votes for the Brexit party to the numbers who signed the remain petition. He's annoyed that I haven't expressed horror that NF won so many seats. I feel horrified by that but am definitely going to keep on with the "more votes for remain parties over all, what a shame for you lot" approach as it's made him so mad.

placemats · 27/05/2019 16:38

I think SDLP will go next and then Sinn Fein will be elected along with Alliance. I think Alliance will pip SF to the post.

It's like watching Eurovision in slow motion. Love it.

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2019 16:40

After the DUP surplus is distributed, I'd imagine Eastwood may be next out. He is just 1,500 ahead of TUV atm. Fight may be between TUV and Alliance for DUP surplus. If TUV bridges that gap with SDLP, Eastwood will be distributed.
