Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

DH has just come into ti say May said she will stand down when Brexit passed

Totally meaningless threat.

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 17:27

SInce the only substantial changes we can make are in the non-binding PD, not the WA,

the EU's legal drafting team could probably rattle off a new PD text within a few weeks - they may already have a rough draft for each feasible option

Any minor text updates to the WA arising from this should be quick, too.

I've read that the Tories are still hoping for 22 May Brexit after any PD changes, which sounds too optimistic.
However, 30 June - to avoid the EP elections - might just be possible
... If the HoC manages to choose a fav option next Monday AND the govt actually accepts it

More likely is an extension to EOY, still leaving the WA basically alone

Harry Cole @MrHarryCole
No date, but she’s going before trade talks.. power drained and inevitable after cabinet backlash at the weekend. MPs were demanding a date, but suspect that’s one for the Downing Street podium.

Huff post reporting TM says she’ll go once Brexit is delivered. Not what they were hoping for I suspect. And what counts as delivered?!

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 17:28

Of course the reverse argument is that the UK would have agreed to such a condition as part of it's treaty acceptance joining the EU.
Yes that was what I was suggesting, with the re-signing of A50 as a direct result of Brexit.

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 17:28

WOW, the end of the Zombie is in sight

PostNotInHaste · 27/03/2019 17:28

Ah ok, so yet another meaningless sentence again.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 17:28

X-post sorry Red

Tanith · 27/03/2019 17:29

No, I wouldn’t say that Wykehamists were egotistic - quite the opposite. There’s a definite lack of arrogance in the Wykehamists I know, but they are not sheep.

It’s a shame there aren’t more who are unafraid to stand up for what they think is right. Our Parliament could do with them right now.

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 17:30

OK so she just wants to control the exit. Whatever is agreed afterwards can be on someone else. I think that is probably wise considering the fore-runners for succession!

Brexshitfuuuuuuuck · 27/03/2019 17:31

Delivered means delivered

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 17:32

Christopher Hope @christopherhope
This means - if confirmed - it is game on for a leadership campaign this summer and new leader by October.

All of this is contingent on her deal going through.

And May keeping her word

OP posts:
DarlingNikita · 27/03/2019 17:32

I think she said she'll resign IF it persuades MPs to pass her deal.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 17:34

Who were the conservatives who didn’t want to hear what she said?

Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants
Holidayshopping · 27/03/2019 17:34

But if she doesn’t manage to persuade anyone to go for her deal, surely she’s toast anyway??

CordeliaEarhart · 27/03/2019 17:34

I really can't stand Kate Hoey.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 17:35

Hmm, there was meant to be a photo with that...

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 17:35

No, the EU cannot require all countries to have a referendum, let alone set a threshhold for anything
That really would be interference in the internal affairs of members

The ECJ would probably reject this, it a case were brought.
However, none of the members would agree to bringing in such interference anyway

The EU normally requires that treaties, invoking / revoking etc be agreed according to the constitution of each country
Under the UK constituion, the PM - and in some cases the HoC too - have the relevant authority

Littlespaces · 27/03/2019 17:37

WOW, the end of the Zombie is in sight

Reckon she is telling another lie.

Aubrey Allegretti @breeallegretti
Tory Brexiteer on news Theresa May will quit once Brexit delivered.

"It sounds all great in here and the usuals are clapping. But there’s nothing substantive in it. No date. No timeline. No strategy. No clarity. This will look worse in the morning than it does right now."

I was just trying to answer your question DGRossetti. 😞 Im not the Daily Express's publisher or anything 🤮

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 17:39

May has told her MPs she won’t lead them into the next phase of the Brexit negotiations.

I'll believe it when I see it.

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 17:39

So if we do get an indicative vote for a changed PD, could there possible be another PM leading the negotiations, if her position gets any worse ?

imo, depends how long the PD takes,
but still more likely she'll only resign after Brexit and then let another PM lead the transition negotiations for the permanent future trade deal & relationship

Also, the Tory party will want just one scapegoat from their own side, not 2
Hence why I think she won't go before Brexit, even if we get an EOY extension
