Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

RTB true, but it would still be good, surely?

If there was a massive vote for Revoke in Parliament and with the petition too and TM simply ignored it surely something would change?
(looks around wildly for hope)

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 15:36

L LLLL!

tobee · 27/03/2019 15:37

It's a very short time allowed for the debate. Hopefully the MPs will have strong ideas already. From the timetable I saw I think the different choices (before Bercow narrowed them down) were available to see from 6.30 am.

cherin · 27/03/2019 15:37

I still don’t understand what the Labour plan is and how it would be remotely fitting into our normal time-space coordinates....
Help!

(Good joke on Twitter. Barcow drew up an impossible round of scrabble)

Greensleeves · 27/03/2019 15:39

People's vote not one of the options? Have I misunderstood?

tobee · 27/03/2019 15:39

M= second ref (?)

tobee · 27/03/2019 15:40

Ya

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:41

No Kyle-Wilson amendment as far as I can see (Thats the WA then PV).

(Interestingly Kyle-Wilson would be a good way to change the MV3 and to allow it to return should the government decide to adopt it...).

Whoops pocket post

Greensleeves · 27/03/2019 15:42

Ah, OK. Just crap BBC reporting then - the bar on the side of the telly on BBC Parliament only showed 6 options, and second ref wasn't there Confused

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:43

Oh yes name got changed to Beckett, Kyle, Wilson didn't it? In an effort to confuse the hell out of me. Thats M

So I haven't been WFH the last couple of days...

I assume the MPs get to vote on their ballot papers for Aye/Nay against each of the options.

So...

Assuming no one option has a majority at this point, what is the next step?

I assume on Monday it would be to narrow down to the few that are obviously more popular?

But MPs can't be forced to vote so if no deal is thrown out presumably the ERG and DUP will abstain from the next round?

Which depending on numbers and other movements over the next few days might mean we get a majority for something...maybe...

icannotremember · 27/03/2019 15:44

just because its being debated doesn't mean it makes any sense or is in any way possible...

True! I keep forgetting that even at this stage of the whole Brexit madness we still have MPs voting for unicorns.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 15:44

So would you expect M to now garner support as it's the only way to get the WA back in? Bloody cunning of Bercow in a way then, if that's his thinking.

phpolly · 27/03/2019 15:45

Bercow is my hero once again. However I believe he is already claimed definitively by Sostenueto Grin

icannotremember · 27/03/2019 15:46

Excuse me, I fancied Bercow long before it was fashionable (it's been a running joke in my office for over a year) so I get first dibs!

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 15:47

I've never fancied Bercow nor do I ever expect to. I do like him a lot these days though.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 15:48

Bercow doesn't do it for me either. Way too cocky and full of himself!

phpolly · 27/03/2019 15:49

< steps back to allow icannot and Sostenueto to fight over the Speaker of the House >

LouiseCollins28 · 27/03/2019 15:49

So which options, of those selected for a vote, would people be happy with now?

Butterymuffin · 27/03/2019 15:49

Andrew Sparrow on the Guardian live blog sees Bercow's reiteration of his ruling as important. Apparently he will not allow it to be done as a 'notwithstanding' motion, i.e. as a one off - it must be substantially different. Says:
"Has probably reduced the chances of MV being brought back this week, and it makes the chance of MV3 never happening a distinct possibility"

I say Grin to that, as we know now that most of Parliament wants to avoid no deal. So if it comes to no deal or revoke/PV because there can be no more voting on the WA in its current form (which is its only possible form since the EU won't reopen negotiations or shift on the backstop) then I think they start to look possible.

Pilcrow · 27/03/2019 15:49

Sorry about the Sun link but this says it all about JRM.

Essentially, he's always been like this.

icannotremember · 27/03/2019 15:50

I'm sure we can come to a time share agreement. There's probably something in Erskine May about it.
