Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 18:23

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Decent spread of options chosen...

Butterymuffin · 27/03/2019 15:23

Think that was M, not N - the Margaret Beckett

Speaker saying those people have until 4pm if they don't want to go ahead with recorded vote after all. He'll then confirm

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:24

DAG has always been firmly liberal (in the sense of liberal v authoritarian), though right of centre. He's said he's voted Conservative before.

I've been following him since 2011 (he was one of my first twitter follows - I'd never heard of him previously) around the time of the London riots.

He's always been interesting to read, way before Brexit ever came along.

Good! The ayes have it!
Berkow selected a wide range which is also good.
Oh goodness someone just laughed and sounded like Bellatrix leStrange from Harry Potter!

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 15:24

Of course they have changed their minds about the WA. It will squeak through I bet.

yolofish · 27/03/2019 15:25

I do actually rely on these threads to update/explain what is happening.... so much better than any media Flowers Cake Gin Wine etc to you all.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:27

Paul Waugh @paulwaugh
Bercow updating his advice on whether meaningful vote 3 would be allowed.
Now says if govt tries to bring back tmrw or Friday, Speaker says govt must 'meet the test of change', and a 'notwithstanding motion' would NOT be accepted. This device had been suggested by @nmdacosta

OP posts:
Butterymuffin · 27/03/2019 15:27

Ooh. Speaker reiterating that MV3 can only happen if it is different and he expects govt to meet that test if they attempt to bring it again.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:28

Berkow talking about WA now. He's saying that government MUST meet his conditions before WA can be presented again. Test of change he called it. Hes warning the Government very clearly now. Crikey that's put the cat among the pigeons and he also said attempts to circumnavigate his decision will not be allowed either!
Wow! Berkow really putting the government under duress! The table office will not accept a paving motion!

StripeyChina · 27/03/2019 15:30

Me too icannotremember

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 15:31

We will always have privilege : as much as people don't want it and it's not fair etc etc it will never go away. Old money filters down.
People without much privilege will still vote Tory.
So the speaker has put his oar in again then?

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:31

icannotremember just because its being debated doesn't mean it makes any sense or is in any way possible...

Berkow talking about WA now. He's saying that government MUST meet his conditions before WA can be presented again.

Quite right too!

StripeyChina · 27/03/2019 15:32

I know Bercow is not, ahem, universally popular, and is LOVING all the attention etc but he is going up and up and up in my estimation :)

tobee · 27/03/2019 15:32

Has Bercow left out any surprising ones? I see what's in but lost sight of what's out.

Thank god that we get the no deal debate over with first by the looks of it.

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 15:32

Wtf happens if the WA can't be presented again? Will it be no deal? Does anyone know?are we in with a chance still?

67chevvyimpala · 27/03/2019 15:33

When is 1st vote?

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 15:33

Faisal Islam @faisalislam
the House of Commons now has ...

26 minutes per option to debate and decide between each of 8 fundamentally different Brexit options for the nation:

Between being in a Customs Union, leaving with No Deal, being in Single Market, Referendum, Revoke etc etc

Limit of 5 mins to speeches. 47 backbenchers and 3 front benchers want to speak.

I imagine some filibustering will go on...

Yes I find DAG’s stuff fascinating Red. I wish he did a podcast or something, I can’t be bothered with Twitter a lot of the time.

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 15:34
havingtochangeusernameagain · 27/03/2019 15:35

We need B to be comprehensively defeated.

What's O? Is that Malthouse? Not keen on that, it just pushes back the cliff edge.

Of those options I'd like revoke but could live with Norway, Common Market 2.0 or the Labour customs union plan.

Not sure what the UK-wide CU is.

Don't want another referendum.
