If anyone says they know what will happen this week....

... They don't.

The expectation among Tory grandees

"grandee" is that old French for "complete cunt" ?

They can expect all they want, they will be disappointed.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 26/03/2019 14:38

I got revoke too, and also picked pizza. Though I was sorely torn between that and waffles

DGRossetti · 26/03/2019 14:38

Given the number of people in each constituency signing the #RevokeArticle50 petition, it might be worth emailing your MP and asking them to Revoke.

My MP is one whose majority is eclipsed by signatories. As a Labour MP in a 52% remain constituency (two universities to our name), she is probably hyper-aware of her situation ....

BestIsWest · 26/03/2019 14:40

I picked pizza and got revoke though I would honestly have rather had the veg.

The80sweregreat · 26/03/2019 14:42

Waste of time emailing my MP. An ERG fanatic: would only get the ' will of the people' reply etc etc.

1tisILeClerc · 26/03/2019 14:43

Veg is SO 'British', you need something continental like Pizza or Waffles!

BestIsWest · 26/03/2019 14:43

My MP would revoke in a heartbeat, given the option. I’m sure of it. We’re a remain conscience by 50.3 to 49.7.

She actually said that she will do what she believes is best for the constituency and if, because of that, they choose not to re-elect her, she can live with that.

LarkDescending · 26/03/2019 14:44

My MP is Leader of HM Opposition (constituency 78.4% Remain). He has not yet responded to, or acknowledged, any of my communications on the subject of Brexit since 2016.

BestIsWest · 26/03/2019 14:44

She’s also been sharing the petition on Twitter so she’s well aware of it.

BestIsWest · 26/03/2019 14:45

That’s so depressing Lark. I think we all know his views now.

BercowsSilkTie · 26/03/2019 14:49

I want pizza now too but supposed to be creating some lentil, sweet potato and carrot concoction that I have no recipe for Confused

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 26/03/2019 14:50

I got Revoke. I was torn between pizza and waffles. Decided I was in a savoury mood. I’ve had my lunch now and if I was choosing again I’d go for the waffles. I suppose now I’ve picked pizza I’m not allowed to ever have waffles again but must eat pizza for the rest of my days even though it’s not what I want anymore ... Sad

Can someone please help me with something? My head is spinning with all this and I’m clearly missing something that should be blatantly obvious but why, given that we know the HoC is against No Deal, did they vote against the Beckett amendment?

I wonder where the www.livefrombrexit.com/petitions/241584 sits in a world ranking ?

Seems 22million for an Arab Spring petition and 15M for something in Copenhagen (which doesn't ring true, given the population).

It may not reach 17.4 million, but it might make the history books yet ?

LarkDescending · 26/03/2019 14:54

Blimey, even TM's loyal cheerleader is advocating free votes:

The Guardian

14:50

Nadhim Zahawi, the leave-voting children’s minister, has told the BBC that he thinks the government will have to offer a free vote during the indicative votes process tomorrow. He said:

I suspect it must be because if the will of parliament is to have free votes, indicative votes, then that will be it.

1tisILeClerc · 26/03/2019 14:56

{ lentil, sweet potato and carrot concoction that I have no recipe for }
Throw ingredients in a pan or in a casserole dish. Cook for a while then name it later.
Recipes are for wimps!

NoCryingInEngineering · 26/03/2019 14:58

What would be the point of indicative votes if they aren't free votes? Other than to prevent a plan that isn't the Dear Leaders Plan being endorsed?

DarlingNikita · 26/03/2019 14:59

Lark, sympathies. Mine is Diane Bloody Abbott (that's actually her name if you live round here Grin). 79.52% Remain.

Does she care? Does she buffalo.

I still write to her about once a day though. I think my face is on a dartboard in her office.

CurrerBell · 26/03/2019 15:00

@The80sweregreat I too have one of the ERG... writing won't change his mind, but more of us do so, the more the Brexiters are rattled. If nothing else, it was cathartic.

The80sweregreat · 26/03/2019 15:03

Currer, I doubt he would even reply.
If he did , it wouldn't be worth reading.
He wont even get the push at the next GE I bet.

Violetparis · 26/03/2019 15:10

Would the EU agree to an extension without any clear idea of what the time would be used for ? With the DUP and Remain MPs both happy with an extension I don't see what the end purpose is. I can only see prolonging the agony of confusion and stalemates.

Grinchly · 26/03/2019 15:12

I picked Anna Soubry and pizza first time and got p v.
Bercow and fondue the second and got revokeGrin

DGRossetti · 26/03/2019 15:12

Would the EU agree to an extension without any clear idea of what the time would be used for ?

No. Hence no point in TM resigning anyway.

Emilyontmoor · 26/03/2019 15:15

I have a strongly remain MP in a strongly remain constituency. When people keep asking me to write to my MP I feel sort of disenfranchised (though enfranchised in an election) as I would want to add to their frustrations and if I keep sending thank you letters it will get a bit stalkerish. MP next door is a strong leaver in a strongly remain constutuency so maybe I will let it all out by writing to him to point out that the number of constituents signing the petition is nearly 600 times his majority....... —not that it will dent his entitled patrician thick skin—

PestyMachtubernahme · 26/03/2019 15:17

Most abstract tweet of the day

Arron Banks @Arron_banks
It’s not Brexit , it is a binding treaty and it is designed to see us fail completely as a country. Remain is a better option than this toxic surrender document. You should have been an MP , given that appalling analysis...

Arron Banks was responding to,

Iain Dale @IainDale
The big question for ERGers tonight is this. May’s deal or an even softer Brexit? The choice is yours. You may not like it. I don’t like it. But that is the reality. Deal with it and get it over the line.
