Vote 12th March: Meaningful Vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

Vote 13th March: If WA fails, vote on No Deal

Vote 14th March: If WA fails, vote on A50 extension

Not much more to add at this stage that's not repeating what's been said before.

mojo In the context of politics, "psycho" was meant to be short for "psychopathic"

Littlespaces · 11/03/2019 10:17

This is @IanDunt and his view on current Brexit madness -

"Reports No10 planning to have MPs vote on May's deal + Cox's suggestions, instead of an agreed document. It's so Brexit to hold a vote on the deal you wished you got, rather than the one you actually have."

RedToothBrush · 11/03/2019 10:20

Thanks for that Littlespaces.

DHs car is due for service and mot this week. On top of everything else. Last year it took them a month to fix the damn thing.

May will keep pandeing to the ERG
as long as those Tories opposed to No Deal, or wanting a soft Brexit / Remain
keep backing down from resigning

All those Tories opposed to No Deal need to realise that voting for a fantasy WA is voting No Deal

They must vote AGAINST a fantasy diy WA

Sostenueto · 11/03/2019 10:23

2bees Flowers andWine awful condition you have and here's a unmumsnet hug too!

Littlespaces · 11/03/2019 10:26

If we are having imaginary votes now, I vote that after Brexit we replace the Lion and Unicorn on our Coat of Arms.

My suggestions are a Vulture and a Rat.

Sostenueto · 11/03/2019 10:27

It would be so so stupid if MPs voted for a no deal in disguise. Surely they will realise what's afoot? Omg! They are like sheep they may not realiseShock

NoWordForFluffy · 11/03/2019 10:29

This is bonkers.

And TM's promise that the MV would take place was clearly anything but. How can she believe she has any sort of credibility left with anyone?!

Do we reckon there'll be a whole swathe of resignations now?

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 10:30

I wonder how many other areas of the economy could be affected v quickly

Noone had flagged up the car repairers as such an urgent problem.
Not being Ltd companies, they have very little in the way of financial reserves.

At best, hauliers / freight companies will charge more for transporting goods to the UK, because of the risk of added time & driver hours

At worst, if the ports are logjammed and car parts cannot be prioritised, because meds & food must be, then many would go bankrupt within 3 weeks ...
and people can't get repairs, MOTs etc

This is something to prep for, if MOT or service is coming up in April / May at least

Sostenueto · 11/03/2019 10:33

If there are no resignations if/when TM pulls WA tomorrow then they really do value their jobs and party before their country. I cannot believe anyone would want to be associated with any MPs at the moment. Where are the statesmen/women? They are non existant in the HoC. Sad

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 10:34

Fluffies Resignations would mean putting the country before party & career

It would take overies / balls

So far, we've just had 3 Tory MPs joining the Tiggers,
but few other Tories even voting against the govt whip.

TheWomanin12B · 11/03/2019 10:39

I'd already got our car expensivelyserviced in preparation as it's a weird make and difficult to get parts for at the best of times. I admit I hadn't really considered the wider issues of car repair for more common cars, but of course it would be an issue.

All these 'unexpected' No Deal problems will just keep happening, won't they?

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 10:44

If the fantasy WA passes in the HoC, I wonder if prominent figures on the EU side will immediately say it's unacceptable,
or wait until the March European Council meeting to tell May in person

Immediately would be better, so May & the HoC can hopefully think again before the summit and choose another option

Requesting an extension would have a chance of success, but after such idiocy from May & the HoC,
the EU are now much more likely than before to refuse an extension

The likelihood is that any extra time granted would be spent on pointless negotiations trying to kill the backtop and voting for a fantasy WA

67chevvyimpala · 11/03/2019 10:48

I have laryngitis.
Feel shocking 😷

I've stocked up on meds.
Got ds1 another script for his steroids.

I've also done a couple of orders for more frivolous things like the shampoo I like, aloe vera toothpaste, some facial creams.
I think its the little things and treats people forget about.

My car isn't due an MOT til June next year.

Dhs car gets done through work.

I'm starting to feel like um in some sort of parallel universe or like the upside down from stranger things...everything is the same, but different and darker.

Sorry, haven't slept for 3 nights.

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 10:49

This would be the 2nd time that the HoC have voted for fantasy - and May whipped for it:

Didn't they learn from the last time the HoC voted to renegotiate the backstop Confused 🤦🏻‍♀️

The backstop stays.
This WA is all there is for these red lines

and there is no sign the UK is ready to drop its red lines
or that the EU could believe them

TokyoSushi · 11/03/2019 10:49

So they might vote tomorrow on a deal that they don't have, but wish that they did? WT actual F? I assume the EU giving us this fantasy WA are less than nil?

TokyoSushi · 11/03/2019 10:49

Today potentially shaping up to be an unexpected big day?

67chevvyimpala · 11/03/2019 10:50

Just had our boiler serviced last week.

Oven is being a pain so getting that sorted this week.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/03/2019 10:54

I clearly naively thought this couldn't get any more ridiculous / surreal. How wrong I was!

I think that I'd always assumed that MPs had a certain level of intelligence to be able to get elected. But given the level of intelligence demonstrated by the Brexit negotiation team and their utter failure to understand 'this is not negotiable' my assumption was wildly inaccurate!

It's most disconcerting / discombobulating to realise what the majority of MPs appear to be like: dim with loyalty only to party not to country.

I had a general anaesthetic on Thursday which has sent me a bit wappy. Adding the Brexit issues to this mean I feel totally disconnected to reality now! Bizarre feeling.

Littlespaces · 11/03/2019 10:55

I feel like Alice in Wonderland at the Mad Hatters Tea Party.

It is an 'Unbirthday' party where The Hatter has tea all day because Time has punished him by eternally standing still at 6 pm (tea time).

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 11:00

I hope May sees sense and goes back to the original voting plan

However, so far she always retains the impression of the last ERG or DUP figure to sit on her

Songsofexperience · 11/03/2019 11:08

like the upside down from stranger things...everything is the same, but different and darker.

Trump and Putin pulling the strings are the Demogorgon lurking above the house....

ElenadeClermont · 11/03/2019 11:09

I took a weekend off Brexit and now Michael Gove is the great defender of remainers?! What just happened?!

Sostenueto · 11/03/2019 11:10

bigchoc you are so right about the need for courage. What do we expect in this world if me me me? The MPs are thinking of their own lifestyles, house, kids, status before the whole country. This is what happens when a bunch of people who have no idea how the other half lives and doesn't care a f* about them anyway as long as they are OK are in power. The world and people have changed and not for the better. Never in my lifetime have I encountered in the last few years how selfserving society has become. There is no national pride, courage or moral values among the majority of the HoC.

Sostenueto · 11/03/2019 11:11

Or the country.
