Put it to the People March 23rd March

www.peoples-vote.uk/march

While it's cutting things rather fine, the next People's vote is on March 23rd. It's clear the politicians have no clue. They still can't agree on what brexit should look like. Time to take it back to the people.

To people who respond to tell me things like 'we won, get over it',
I'd like to thank you in advance for bumping the thread.

I don't live near London. Are there likely to be companion marches in other regional centres do you know, or where might I find out details? Thanks for the heads up.

Peregrina · 16/02/2019 23:14

I will certainly try to be there, having been on all the others so far. I sense that people, even Leavers who 'want to get on with it' are just thoroughly disgusted with the behaviour of our politicians.

EthelFechan · 16/02/2019 23:16

Why so late?

wherearemychickens · 16/02/2019 23:34

Well I’m in. What do people think about taking children on this one?

Camomila · 16/02/2019 23:41

I'm thinking about it...if there's a safe and calm section for families and pushchairs etc (have only found a general accessibility bit) then I'll try to come. It can be DSs first march. DM might even be up for coming.

If I see anything similar I'll pop it on the thread Dangermouse.

I don't know Ethel :( the previous weekend is the UN march against racism, so maybe it's a logistical thing.

Wherearemychickens, there were lots and lots of children on the October march. Dogs too! It was a rapeally safe, family friendly march.

I’m planning to go but am prepared for this one to have a different vibe to it. Especially if we are looking at ‘no deal’.

PrawnOfCreation · 17/02/2019 00:05

True. And how things should be done. However, 23rd of March is going to be very different to October. Days away. Right to the wire.

I'm all for encouraging children to examine the world around them, and to stand up for what they believe in. But I wouldn't go near this with children, and I'm a veteran protester and matcher.

DangermousesSidekick · 17/02/2019 00:11

Yes, I'd wait and see closer to the time how the mood of the country is going. Regional cities might be safer for children.

missmoon · 17/02/2019 00:40

I’ll be there! Not sure about taking my children this time, I’ll see how things are closer to the time (although they had a brilliant time at the last one).

SandAndSnow · 17/02/2019 00:46

Placemarking.

I really want to go to this, and to take Dd, who is nearly three, but like others, I'm a bit nervous about safety.

HazardGhost · 17/02/2019 00:59

PMK

And sulking.... I don't really care about missing social things, having to give up work because I'm a carer but this I'm bordering on a tantrum over.

Gonna see how it goes and see if I can maybe and slightly irresponsibly make it down.

lonelyplanetmum · 17/02/2019 04:49

I'll be there ( again!).

Taking children is fine. There are lots there. Mine got bored of the speeches in Westminster square but you can always amble with everyone for a while and then dip out to a park for an ice cream or a hot chocolate for them.

Wonder if celebs will fund coaches like last time?

AutumnCrow · 17/02/2019 04:58

Thanks for the thread, Kitten.

borntobequiet · 17/02/2019 06:54

I’ll be there even if they disallow it. Which wouldn’t surprise me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/02/2019 08:22

Perhaps if people are worrying about children's safely you could put the date in your diary and you can see how things look just before the day?
Maybe families might like to group together?

I just RSVP'd.

We'll be there.

wherearemychickens · 17/02/2019 08:56

I’ll definitely be there with DH and we took our children to the last one. I’m just worried like a previous poster said that this will have a different vibe. I know I’m a lot angrier! I think I will arrange childcare to be on the safe side.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/02/2019 08:59

There's quite a contingent of us going :)

OP posts:
Peregrina · 17/02/2019 09:02

I think last time we thought maybe 100,000 would go. Instead 700,000 of us turned up. Not as many as demonstrated against the Iraq war, which didn't stop Blair, of course. But history showed that they were on the right side. I want to be on the right side of history this time.

borntobequiet · 17/02/2019 09:04

I think I’ve still got my red toothbrush somewhere, though I did use it to clean some grouting (hard so v. good for that task).

borntobequiet · 17/02/2019 09:07

I think it’ll either be many more, say 1 500 000 (due to anger and indignation) or many fewer, say 500 000 (due to apathy and fear). Hoping many more.
