Westminstenders: Competitive Stupidity

RedToothBrush · 10/02/2019 16:00

A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

I’m just here for the fabled 500 page paper.

Can you please post it ASAP @stepladders

Enough people have asked you.

Ignoring them is just rude at this point.

The people I blame a lot (not most, as that would be reserved for the perpetrators) for the grooming gangs, is all the people in authority who did nothing.

But then this is not only reserved for the grooming gangs. My mum worked in a care home very briefly in the late sixties and left because she couldn't get anyone to do anything about the sexual abuse by the older children on the younger ones.

Not that much has changed. My friend's daughter (13), met a 19 year old man online, and SS told her that she was being overprotective in not wanting her child to date him.

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 15:16

Primarily Left Wing/Labour Councils.

Look at what happened to Sarah Champion when she bravely spoke out. It was disgusting.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/02/2019 15:18

The YouGov poll I posted upthread indicated the Tories would lose votes to UKIP,
but of course with those percentages, FPTP prevents UKIP gaining seats to match and prevents Labour losing many seats

WIth PR, those who support far right UKIP policies could vote for them instead of infesting & poisoning the Tory Party.

However, Brexit is a game-changer:

Polls suggest the Tories would win a wafer-thin working majority at the next GE
... but those polls of course are asking voters who haven't yet suffered the consequences of a No Deal
and a wafer-thin majority won't last long in a crisis.

Corbyn obviously sees Brexit as his route to power,
the disaster providing a once in a lifetime chance to remake Britain as a genuinely socialist country
Hence his rather obvious support for Brexit

Do we think No Deal will destroy the Tory reputation for competence, for being the "Party of Business", for basic "conservatism" ?

In fact, do we think No Deal will finally destroy the Tory Party ?
Known as the "Cockroaches of British Politics" for their ability to survive disasters (of their own making)

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 15:20

Hasn't Mr Corbyn spectaculary blown Labour's chance of taking power at the next election?

I mean, it was there, on a plate for him.

jasjas1973 · 12/02/2019 15:21

Labour councils tend to in power in poorer areas, that's all there is to it.... the Police did not take any action either - are they also left wing?

Look at how the tory council behaved over Grenfell?

It is not a Left v Right issue, it is how govt & society looks down on poor people and treats them like scum.

Have a look into some of the cases such as Rotherham. Then come back to me and tell me it wasn't because they councils were afraid of being political incorrect.

Hazards · 12/02/2019 15:28

step name calling is never kind. I pointed out you use phrases that BNP/ukip supporters use as polite turns of phrase for what they really, really, mean.

I can see why you would be cross about me asking if you support BNP but please don't lie and say your frothy about it because it suggests your racist... Ukip and the far right of the conservatives are just as racist as BNP but it's dressed up in a much more aspirational way.

So sorry if I offended you Smile I can see it REALLY matters to you that your seen in a certain manner.

PestyMachtubernahme · 12/02/2019 15:29

For those who wish to link grooming gangs, racism and Brexit
www.independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-deal-racism-hate-crime-rotherham-grooming-gang-child-sex-abuse-islamophobia-definition-a8666416.html

Those gangs picked on our children.
That sort of gang is not too selective, they will pick on any kids who are vulnerable.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 12/02/2019 15:30

I do hate it when Brexiteers try to invoke the Dunkirk Spirit or the Blitz spirit.

My late Grandfather was at Dunkirk. He never spoke of it as a victory or a triumph. It was clearly a military defeat. It was, however, spoken of as a miracle - that close to 340,000 lives were saved against the odds.

Is that why they keep talking about Dunkirk? Because only an absolute miracle could make any sort of success of No Deal Brexit, or indeed any sort of Brexit?

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 15:31

On the subject of UKIP and voting I wonder how much this new Brexit party would split the UKIP vote in the event of a GE.

Hazards · 12/02/2019 15:36

step your confused I said your frothy about it because you feel to aspirational for BNP.

You're a sad little person and you have my pity.

FFS read the article before making such ignorant comments and then do some extra research.

You spade.

I personally don't think it will go anywhere. Nigel, doesn't have the draw he likes to think he has.

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 15:42

Pasty

The article you posted is a Joke.

There are also examples of racist attacks on Muslims carried out by other Muslims

I mean, really?

BiglyBadgers · 12/02/2019 15:42

You're probably right about that. Though if Tommy Robinson keeps shuffling his feet further and further under the table with UKIP I can see some of them jumping ship for another party, even if that party is clearly just as bonkers.

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 15:43

Congrats there, Hazards, I fully suspect you will get virtual slaps on the backs from all your fellow posters here. Well done, you did a great job.

Grooming gangs operate all over the UK and these gangs are committing crimes, it is the Police's job to investigate crime, not councils.

Google Operation Linden, the investigation into police conduct in s. yorkshire in regard to police cover ups over child abuse.
