Westminstenders: Plan B is Plan A again.

The voting starts around 7pm and is expected to finish up between 8pm and 8.20pm.

May is expected to lose. The question is by how much.

We are then expecting an immediate motion of no confidence in the government by Labour to be put forward.

May is expected to make a speech to calm the markets and then go to Brussels for an utterly pointless visit.

The Labour No Confidence is expected tomorrow afternoon after PMQs. Its expected to fail.

We move no closer to a resolution and ever closer to no deal.

Half the Cabinet want to go into cross party talks. Half the Cabinet don't.

May is apparently insistent that Plan B is Plan A. Which is what you would expect her to tell the house to comply with Grieve IV. Which again is bollocks.

But Bercow could yet refuse to indulge it.

If Plan B is Plan A again, then what's Plan C?

Crisis with a Capital C.

The stalemate grows.

Why did they have to announce the result right when I was eating my dinner? I've got appalling indigestion now.

SanJelliChino · 15/01/2019 20:48

Marie McGuinness VP of EP

It's clear that UK parliament don't like PM's deal
It's clear that UK parliament dont like no deal
But what they do want remains totally unclear!

Thank you red

MPs reaction

  1. Tory MPs who haven’t raised this before saying tonight they think more time needed so we can’t expect to leave on March 29
  1. People talking about whether she should go or might consider it - but conclude she won’t want to

Developing:

Theresa May said they want to reach out

BUT

No10 also say their principles include securing an independent trade policy.

I.e. no customs union with the EU, Labour’s main ask before talks even start

(Now principles aren’t red lines but strong early hurdle)

Ta1kinPeace · 15/01/2019 20:52

I'd planned to be good this week but shall have to own up to BigChoc that I really need another martini tonight Grin

Holidayshopping · 15/01/2019 20:57

What would we need to happen now for a People’s Vote to take place?

If JC doesn’t want one and neither does TM-I suppose it won’t happen?

mathanxiety · 15/01/2019 20:59

Pmk

Buteo · 15/01/2019 21:05

Gosh it’s gone quiet on here - is everyone pissed now?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/01/2019 21:05

I'm wondering whether I should have a beer. Medically I shouldn't. But it's bloody tempting.

Ta1kinPeace · 15/01/2019 21:06

In shock I think !
Sorry am reading up on lots of sites
and wishing my other passport did not come with Trump and BigMac

BigChocFrenzy · 15/01/2019 21:06

Moves satellite 🛰 & drone closer over TiP's house

Mistigri · 15/01/2019 21:06

The UK would be starting from Year Zero, with just one trade deal so far to be signed with Switzerland,

Actually even the so-called deal with Switzerland is kind of a non-deal. There is at least one good thread about it on Twitter (by an actual trade expert).

Anything announced by Fox needs to be treated as rubbish until independently confirmed.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/01/2019 21:07

Everyone quiet because they're eating donuts now ?
They received supplies at No 10
😂

James Feltonn@JimMFelton*

Don't want to alarm anyone but the people responsible for getting us food if there's no deal are already guarding their donuts with a machine gun

I'm feeling nauseous and eating chocolates like crazy. The two may be linked.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/01/2019 21:09

Misti I assumed anything negotiated by Fox would be a NON-Deal
Especially as trade deals typically tke 5-15 years negotiating by people who know what they are doing
It took 2 years and Fox was in chargeConfused

TokyoSushi · 15/01/2019 21:09

I'm exhausted, tempted to go to bed for the 10pm news which is very early for me!

Efferlunt · 15/01/2019 21:10

So May is going to reach out and try and creat a cross-party convo on this? Great idea just two years too late.

Another Bercow fan here. He’s smaller than he looks on the telly. I met him a few years ago. I was in the lobby briefing a big wig and he came over to talk to said big wig, he still took the time to introduce himself to me even though I’m very obviously a nonentity.

mathanxiety · 15/01/2019 21:10

Everytime I think May is an awful PM we have Andrea to remind us it could have been worse

You're not out of the woods yet when it comes to Andrea Leadsom.

She would be an ideal stooge PM for sharper minds to maneuver behind if May gets pushed into the dustbin of history or decides to buy herself an expensive memoir shed.

Peregrina · 15/01/2019 21:11

The BBC interviewed Boris Johnson, who opined that TM had now been given a mandate to go back to Brussels. Since when has being given an absolute thrashing count as a mandate for anything, except resignation perhaps?

BigChocFrenzy · 15/01/2019 21:12

The Irish Border@BorderIrish 😂

The Backstop takes on monstrous corporeal form of mythic proportions, rises from the Thames,
and with a damp, dripping, clawed, and hirsute foot crushes the Palaces of Westminster.

Then it settles down in a bungalow outside Strabane and does a bit of celebrity charity work

Loletta · 15/01/2019 21:12

This doesn't feel like a victory. In fact I can't think of anyone in Parliament rejoicing at this defeat. It's all upside down

BigChocFrenzy · 15/01/2019 21:15

Excellent point from Fintan O'Toole:

"To adopt a term from medical insurance, Northern Ireland is a pre-existing condition of the British state. "

BiglyBadgers · 15/01/2019 21:15

Well, that was all very exciting.

I am assuming the no confidence vote will not pass so no election. That means if labour stick to what was agreed at conference they should then start pushing officially for a PV whether Corbyn is personally in favour or not.

I was thinking if May's loss wasn't too big she might bring the WA back and scrape it through, but this loss is far too huge for that.

I now think a PV is on the cards in a big way. If I was a betting person I would put money on it (though maybe not all that much).

That's my 'tuppence worth.
