Brexit

Can we have a list of all the things we will be able to do once outside the E.U. that we can’t do now

With 11 weeks to go this should be easy but it’s clear from other threads that people still think things that have nothing to do with the E.U. will change when we leave.

Can we have a list of tangible positive things that can only happen by leaving.

We can have a trade deal with the USA, that will require us to take their chickens that are raised and slaughtered in such filthy conditions that they have to be sterilised with chlorine. Also their beef raised on growth hormones. Also their pork fed with chemicals that are banned in Europe, Russia and China. These products are cheaper than we can produce them here, so our farmers will have to use the same chemicals or go out of business.

I do agree with artesia that the hysterical comments aren’t at all helpful.

my Brexiteer husband reckons we will be able to remove the limit on vacuum cleaner wattage and bring back tungsten light bulbs.

I was waiting for these 2 gems to appear 😂

Could you ask your husband

  • if he thinks higher wattage equals better performance
  • which manufacturers are going to produce something that can only be sold in 1 market?

I don't think it's hysterical at all.

Thin end of the wedge. Once you give away some rights they all slip away.

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 15:33

It is hysterical to say

Say goodbye to: annual leave, maternity pay, childcare/dependants leave, statuatory redundancy, working time regulations......

It’s also fairly hysterical to say

once you give away some rights they all slip away

Bearbehind He thinks higher powered vacuums pick up more fluff first time so vacuuming is quicker, and the demand for tungsten bulbs will make it worthwhile.

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 15:42

Ah, so progress isn’t really his thing then screaming 😆

{ and the demand for tungsten bulbs will make it worthwhile.}
I like tungsten light bulbs as I can huddle around them for warmth in winter.

ScreamingValenta · 13/01/2019 15:45

He is the old-fashioned type! Grin

We've had to agree a non-argument truce on Brexit-related issues.

1tisILeClerc · 13/01/2019 15:48

{He thinks higher powered vacuums pick up more fluff first time so vacuuming is quicker}
Well as 'quicker' relates to less power being used, he is not necessarily incorrect.
The tests should really be 'power required to clean a room' as a total not what the machine might take per minute.

{He is the old-fashioned type! Grin}
I would ask what you mean, but I don't think I want to know!

Buteo · 13/01/2019 16:56

Vacuum cleaner wattage isn't a measure of cleaning ability - it's a measure of how much electricty the motor consumes. To determine how well it sucks, you need to consider waterlift and airflow (as well as design of the tools).

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 17:12

Is there really not one single, indisputable, tangible benefit to this charade?

Ta1kinPeace · 13/01/2019 17:14

One real bonus for the promoters of Brexit is that outside the EU the UK will not yet have to comply with the offshore financing disclosure changes
so the ultra rich will be able to keep their stash away from the UK tax authorities a bit longer

Buteo · 13/01/2019 17:23

Farage and Batten and their mates will be replaced by someone actually interested in the job - that's got to be a positive?

surferjet · 13/01/2019 17:28

Bearbehind

Mumsnet has very few leavers on it, & the ones that are here, 99% of them can’t be arsed with this childish crap anymore.

Give up woman, no one cares.

bellinisurge · 13/01/2019 17:31

You don't, surferjet. It's not the same thing as no one.

surferjet · 13/01/2019 17:32

No leaver is going to play your games anymore, they know what happens.

Pointless. All of it.

Ta1kinPeace · 13/01/2019 17:37

Mumsnet has very few leavers on it
No, there are lots and lots of leavers on MN,
but most of them voted leave for reasons that are down to Westminster not Brussels.

BeardedMum · 13/01/2019 17:37

I also think its rather pointless debating Brexit with leavers. I just hope that we will see some responsible politicians starting to emerge from this chaos and revoke Brexit. I hope so for ny children and future generations sake!

GladAllOver · 13/01/2019 17:38

The tests should really be 'power required to clean a room' as a total not what the machine might take per minute.
No. It should be the energy required to clean the room. Power is the rate of doing work, not the total used.

bellinisurge · 13/01/2019 17:39

Surferjet, there are no dealers and there are people who reluctantly accept WA. All no dealers are leavers. Reluctant acceptance of WA comes from both Leave and Remain. Surely it's better to explore the WA path if the alternatives- No Deal or No Brexit are unacceptable.

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 17:41

Yay, here’s surferjet to just insult people (mainly me) and offer no insight whatsoever, as ever.

OP posts:
surferjet · 13/01/2019 17:45

No leaver ever offers any insight - that’s my point.
But you keep on asking the same questions over & over.

bellinisurge · 13/01/2019 17:48

No surferjet I'm not asking the same question as June 2016, I'm asking a question which needs answering now or up to end of March 2019 - which version of Leave is acceptable to you, WA or No Deal. Because as Remain supporters are showing on this thread, No Brexit is not as terrible as we think (as divisive as it would be).
