Can we have a list of all the things we will be able to do once outside the E.U. that we can’t do now

With 11 weeks to go this should be easy but it’s clear from other threads that people still think things that have nothing to do with the E.U. will change when we leave.

Can we have a list of tangible positive things that can only happen by leaving.

There will be moves to encourage pregant women to stand on their oewn two feet

IE protections around employment will go
They have already made people pay to take to trbunal which has been found in breach of EU regs > no such worries going forward!

This will encourage the kind of personal responsibility that the UK wants to foster rather than tedious nannying.

"Perhaps unsurprisingly, there has been a 70% drop in the number of cases since the fees were introduced. Low-paid women, especially those treated unfairly when they were pregnant or on maternity leave, have been the biggest losers. It’s a timely issue, particularly as article 50 has now been triggered. This is because one of the most significant EU laws that the UK has benefited from when it comes to equality, is the principle of effectiveness.

“If you have a right to bring a claim, it has to be made accessible and affordable otherwise you are effectively being denied access to justice,” says Rachel Crasnow QC, equality law specialist at Cloisters."

Here's my list:

Negotiating trade deals will be easier. We can remove OTT regulations. Deport absentee father criminals. Remove quotas on what farmers can grow. Liberalism basically with a smattering of closing legal loopholes. Unlikely to happen though given the ineptitude of our current politicians.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:10

I thikn we will be able to rebuild our navy and shoot french fishermen who stray into our waters?

Rule Britannia!!!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:11

"Deport absentee father criminals."

What does this mean please?

BeardedMum · 13/01/2019 13:11

The UK has always been a regressive force within the EU when it comes to social changes and improvements to workers rights, maternity etc. I don’t understand why people think this will improve when the UK leaves the EU.

Icantreachthepretzels · 13/01/2019 13:12

Then we will vote the Conservatives out

The next election currently scheduled is in 2022. They can have removed a lot of protections, done a lot of harm and created a lot more policies that punish the poor, vulnerable and disabled before 2022.

And once those EU protections are removed and new policies in place - it is far easier for whoever makes up the next government to just leave them there than it is to change them back.

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 13:15

Negotiating trade deals will be easier.

Less complicated perhaps but we are 1 country not a bloc of 28 so the terms won’t be as favourable. That aside which countries do we want such deals with that we couldn’t have before?

We can remove OTT regulations.

Can you name any such regulations?

Deport absentee father criminals

Why couldn’t we do this before?

Remove quotas on what farmers can grow.

Can you give some examples?

The trouble is, people have been saying things like this for so long they truly believe it........except when it comes to giving specific examples. It all goes a bit wrong at that point.

Get a big blue passport which is made in France
Wonder why my friend has returned to Poland
Pay higher tariffs on goods unless a decent rate is negotiated in the future
Grovel around pharmacies for my daily insulin

1tisILeClerc · 13/01/2019 13:18

{Negotiating trade deals will be easier.}
So how much 'clout' do you think the UK will have negotiating with China or the USA? It is only 'easier' on the basis the UK takes what the other side offers, and it won't be a good deal for the UK.

{I thikn we will be able to rebuild our navy and shoot french fishermen who stray into our waters?}
I presume you are being a bit silly. Most of the fish that swim in UK waters are varieties that the UK won't eat. Most UK fishermen sell their catch to France and Spain. Cod and Haddock come from the Northern waters.

prettybird · 13/01/2019 13:18

We can buy bendy bananas from countries that use dangerous pesticides that harm their workers.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:19

We will be able to get rid of the pesky human rights stuff that europe imposed on us!!!

(Britain was a key proponent and main writer of it.... rightsinfo.org/wrote-european-convention-human-rights/)

prettybird · 13/01/2019 13:20

....which is nothing to do with the EU and everything to do with the EHCR Confused

Moussemoose · 13/01/2019 13:22

@millyonth do you read the threads you post on?

You made the comment about nationalising railways on another thread. Two posters explained that there were ways of the government taking ownership of the railways in the EU. France and Germany were given as examples.

You didn't respond.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:24

We can boot out freeloading foreigners like these, or at least remind them they are johnny foreigner and make them jump through hoops even if they are really fucking old.

(Just saw on BBC

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-46836957

This is what we mean when we say "Makign Britan Great Again".

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:25

Lol @ renationalising railways

Mainland europe has nationalised / heavily subsidised fantastic railway system which is cheap, efficient, wonderful. I use it.

Over here meanwhile it is outrageously expensive and shit.

This is Europe's fault, is it? Grin

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:27

We can call snickers marathons again
Get noel edmonds back on the telly

Europe has interfered in our important national business enough!

PortiaCastis · 13/01/2019 13:35

I think folk didn't do any research before voting otherwise they'd know about ECHR and also the railways.
Said this before and I'll say it again. Thick morons drove my friend out of the Country through ignorance shouting out go home polak at her and daubing her car with racist insults did the trick

Is this what we've become?

Aridane · 13/01/2019 13:37

do what you like with people's personal data

No - we will be maintaining GDPR equivalent!

HalloumiGus · 13/01/2019 13:37

It's so fucking depressing. The suicidal stupidity of this.

Aridane · 13/01/2019 13:38

Greater legislative freedom, whether that is for good or for bad

NothingOnTellyAgain · 13/01/2019 13:38

prettybird -

plenty of people who voted to leave dont' understand the difference and DO think that we will be able to stop adhering to the pesky human rights stuff

Moussemoose · 13/01/2019 13:38

Freedom to legislate to remove basic standards.

Bearbehind · 13/01/2019 13:41

nothing tempting as it is, could you give it a rest with the sarcastic replies - it just gives Leavers fodder to use that as an excuse for not responding.

OP posts:
prettybird · 13/01/2019 13:42

Nothingontelly - I'm fully aware of that Wink. Those ignorant people include the UK's PM Shock

(As an aside, apologies for my EHCR typo - it should of course have been ECHR Blush)
