Been reading all these threads on here about Brexit and just wondered if anyone voted Leave?
Fwiw, I did.
If you voted Leave what do you anticipate will happen before 29/03?

Dont be shy, I can't be the only Leaver on here!Smile

I do wish we could move on from the likes of surfer playing the ‘bully’ card just to distract from the fact there is still no substance to any Leave arguments. The only rude or derogatory comments on this thread are hers.

I spoke to someone I know who is a die hard Leaver and unfortunately the B word came up. I asked what they thought of our current position and, completely seriously, they said ‘It will all be fine - they need us more than we need them’

The lack of critical thinking that still exists is tragic.

wincarwoo · 10/01/2019 09:24

@1tisILeClerc that's interesting. I'm pretty sure the original post was tongue in cheek but yes, it's pretty horrifying that we are considering importing food of lesser quality. Grim.

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 09:24

Maybe there could be a topic just for leavers, separate to the main brexit one.

namechangechanger · 10/01/2019 09:27

Name changed for this cuz it makes me sound pretty silly. I voted leave just because it was something different, I didn't really think of what would happen either way. I wonder if any other people did this? Shock

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 09:28

@PerverseConverse ,the op tried. She set up this thread inviting Leave supporters to comment. No one did for ages. Not because there aren't any but because of the inevitable pesky questions.

1tisILeClerc · 10/01/2019 09:30

( they need us more than we need them’}
Both the EU need the UK and the UK needs the EU, that is a fact.
The EU does not need the UK equally though, the ratio could be 70/30 with the UK being the more 'needy'. Leaving means everyone loses.

wincarwoo
If you are interested, the EU website has a section of 'EU myths' with a list of the bonkers stuff that people have made up or over inflated over the years. They are not 'humourless bureaucrats'.

lonelyplanetmum · 10/01/2019 09:30

How about you just hide this thread? It’s really easy, I’ll explain how you do it if you like, because I hide 99% of remainers threads.

I thought we were all meant to be working together to bridge the divisions in the country Surfer. Thread hiding isn't the best way to create unity is it?

I'm still happy to bridge that gap- Im patiently waiting for any Leave politicians or supporters to show me the myriad of benefits starting to emerge? I'm waiting for the vast investment and economic growth to emerge from ditching membership of that powerful trading bloc we helped develop and lead. Waiting... waiting..

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 09:30

No, I mean a topic not a thread.

BorisBogtrotter · 10/01/2019 09:31

"Maybe there could be a topic just for leavers, separate to the main brexit one."

It was called the Brexit Arms and they sat there repeating Brexit myths to confirm that they were right.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 09:34

@PerverseConverse - good idea.
For a while, on the Preppers topic there was a spate of people piling on to say we Preppers are all loons. Then they piss off, bored. Don't get that much nowWink. Anyway I assume a specific Leave topic would attract people asking more pesky questions and I doubt people would get bored doing so.

PCPlumsTruncheon · 10/01/2019 09:36

surfer I don’t remember Remainers ever calling Leavers Traitors or Enemies of the People. I’m pretty sure those comments came from the Daily Mail. Gina Miller, who brought the case for Parliament having a vote on Brexit which inspired the ‘Ememies of the People’ headline, was subject to vile abuse from Leavers including rape and death threats.
It is Brexit supporters who have been intimidating Anna Soubry and calling her a Nazi.
As a PP pointed out yesterday, well over a million people have attended anti Brexit /PV marches and, as far as I know, nobody was arrested. I’m not aware of any prominent Brexiters receiving death threats.
On the rare occasions that Leavers have put forward a case for why they voted as they did that doesn’t consist solely of sound bites and meaningless slogans, they have been treated with respect.
You have said all along that you knew exactly what you were voting for so the current situation is clearly what you wanted.
I don’t understand why you’re so angry - You won, remember?
And as for ‘GO AWAY’, it makes you sound about 10. You’re right, nobody owns these boards. Including you.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 10/01/2019 09:37

as you have voted leave are you happy that we may end up with 10/20/40 years of economic disaster ahead of us?

You really truly believe this? 😂

No leavers post on these types of threads because we get shouted down. It is completely pointless.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 09:39

Leavers who don't wish to answer questions on MN have plenty of other places to get morale support for their views. Like everywhere else.

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 09:44

Ah ok, didn't realise that's what the brexit Arms was. I didn't look at it. Thanks.

Janus · 10/01/2019 09:52

Namechanger, I honestly think quite a few voted like this, more of a ‘well let’s see’. I appreciate yours and coco’s comments and honesty and can get over that.
But the others who don’t appreciate that our economic future is screwed, our NHS will be brought to its knees, refusal to believe that immigration actually ADDS to our economy, my children no longer have the freedom to work in the EU, I can’t get my head around.

Bearbehind · 10/01/2019 09:53

namechanger now you can see what Leave involves would you vote for it again?

Notonthestairs · 10/01/2019 09:55

Pickwick - do you think there won't be economic consequences to leaving?

I'm very interested because everything I have read indicates a downturn (size and length unknown). It is a big cause of concern in my family.

namechangechanger · 10/01/2019 10:16

No I probably wouldn't vote for it again if I'm honest. I didn't think it was actually gonna happen when I voted. I don't think the general public should be allowed to make decisions because of people like me!

1tisILeClerc · 10/01/2019 10:16

{It was called the Brexit Arms and they sat there repeating Brexit myths to confirm that they were right.}
I used to comment on it, as did Surferjet. It was supposed to be lighthearted and to begin with it was, with suggestions for Brexit inspired music and whatever.
I would ask open ended questions about what leavers night reasonably expect to see happen but as now there are very few who can actually say what tangible benefits will come from leaving.
I have maintained that IF Brexit had been planned properly something good could come out of it but in all honesty the claims of being a 'glorious superpower and industrial powerhouse' are just fantasies. The UK will HAVE to reinvent itself and it would be nice to have a bit of a 'brainstorming' session to try and work out realistically what it can do in future. Manufacture of 'stuff' cheaply is already covered by China/India and Pakistan etc. Heavy engineering, India and others.
Hi tech design, would have been good but by leaving the UK has thrown up significant barriers. I have recently suggested a MASSIVE training scheme for medics of all levels. The UK WAS good at it and it could regain some credibility by training for the home and overseas market, so gaining a BRILLIANT NHS and making money from other governments from medics who train here.
Whatever the UK does it will have to be innovative because most things can and are being done elsewhere in the world.
Alternatively we could sit in cold dark homes with limited food and complain that the Brexit we demanded isn't as good as was promised.
One thing is for sure, after the crap that the UK has been dishing out to others for centuries, helping hands may not be extended very far.

scorpio32 · 10/01/2019 10:18

Janus, our economic future is already screwed - so are a lot of EU countries. Blame the banks, or whoever you want, but staying in the EU won't change that. Same goes for the NHS.

Stop pretending that remaining means that we will live in a land of milk and honey.

As for your children not being able to work in the EU, of course they will. They'll just need to get a visa.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 10:26

@scorpio32 , I certainly don't think the EU is the land of milk and honey. Who does? But I know that driving our economy into a tree with No Deal is NOT better than facing economic problems with friends as part of a huge trading bloc.

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 10:27

What happens to the Irish border if no deal??

1tisILeClerc · 10/01/2019 10:28

{Janus, our economic future is already screwed}
It is good that this is recognised.
The EU has problems, of which Brexit is relatively small but the UK by leaving is in a far bigger hole.
The 'other' problems affecting the EU are the same as the 'non Brexit' problems that the UK is facing, so in many respects being in or out is not important, however if Brexit were to be cancelled, both the UK and EU could work together to repair the other problems together.
EU membership is not the problem. Being IN the EU can help.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 10:28

@PerverseConverse - the answer is nothing good.

scorpio32 · 10/01/2019 10:31

How do you know that bellinisurge? Are you clairvoyant? Do you know what is going to happen to the EU in 5 years? 10 years, 50 years?

No, you KNOW nothing. You THINK that it will be better in the EU. A lot of people disagree with you and THINK otherwise.
