Been reading all these threads on here about Brexit and just wondered if anyone voted Leave?
Fwiw, I did.
If you voted Leave what do you anticipate will happen before 29/03?

Dont be shy, I can't be the only Leaver on here!Smile

"The technology doesn't exist so is impossible."

And of course, creating new technology is beyond our abilities...

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 11:03

BorisB crossed a line and I have also reported it.

@scorpio32 do you have any idea of how long it took to get the GFA? Is that really your solution?

Bearbehind · 10/01/2019 11:05

Anyway, back to mocking remainers.

You really aren’t mocking us. You’re just looking a bit foolish because your only method of defending Leave is trying to belittle Remain, but it doesn’t stand up.

You’d do far better trying to robustly agree the benefits of leaving,

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 11:05

@scorpio32 who are the "they" in your post who need money chucking at them if they get narky?

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 11:05

Of course there is potentially a technology solution, which is why we have the backstop. It can't be found yet but hopefully it will be found and we won't need the backstop.

Bearbehind · 10/01/2019 11:06

I’m not sure why boris post has been reported. surfer has previously said that’s why she voted Leave.

Why does repeating it ‘cross a line’?

surferjet · 10/01/2019 11:07

Where have I ever said my son is not as bright as immigrants?
I said once ( & you’ve clung onto it to use against me ) that freedom of movement meant low skilled workers take up a large amount of sessional / weekend work, so young people like my son - not just him! - find it harder to get Saturday jobs.

You have decided to call me son thick & not as bright or skilled as immigrants - you have attacked someone’s child & you’re proud of it.
I’m just glad people can see you for what you are.

1tisILeClerc · 10/01/2019 11:08

Ref NI.
{ Is there a solution that won't cause harm?}
Accepting a CUSTOMS border in the sea would be a very practical solution.
The DUP are being hypocritical in opposing this as they maintain it makes NI 'special'. Yes it does for GOODS. The hypocrisy comes in is the fact that there are several other cases where NI is a 'special' case, Abortion and other issues.
With CUSTOMS being dealt with on the sea voyage it is actually quite convenient (or at least as unobtrusive as possible).

{"both the UK and EU could work together to repair the other problems together"
Hahahahahahhahahahahah - that's hilarious.}
What exactly is so hillarious?
It is like Manchester city council asking Leeds city council to get together on tackling a particular problem. If you are not capable of understanding this then it you who is wrong. At the moment we are ALL in the EU.

PerverseConverse · 10/01/2019 11:09

She didn't call him thick that I can see.

Bearbehind · 10/01/2019 11:09

surfer you know fine well you said exactly what was quoted.

If I recall correctly it was around about exam results time last year.

BorisBogtrotter · 10/01/2019 11:10

"I said once ( & you’ve clung onto it to use against me ) that freedom of movement meant low skilled workers take up a large amount of sessional / weekend work, so young people like my son - not just him! - find it harder to get Saturday jobs. "

In the same thing you said that your son had not done as well as your daughters and you were concerned about the competition. Sorry, its not saying that he was not bright.

"You have decided to call me son thick & not as bright or skilled as immigrants - you have attacked someone’s child & you’re proud of it. "

Nope I didn't I repeated your point.

Other posters gave you all sorts of advice about getting vocational training at the time.

surferjet · 10/01/2019 11:11

Find the post where I said my son wasn’t as bright or as highly skilled as immigrants.

scorpio32 · 10/01/2019 11:11

I didn't vote to leave.

I just don't think that

(a) it will be a complete disaster (especially if you take a long term view) and
(b) the irish border is something that can and will be resolved.

I DON'T think the border is a good enough reason to derail Brexit.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 11:12

@Bearbehind while I am no fan of @surferjet and their often silly comments, I don't agree with making remarks about people's children.

It just doesn't feel right. The fact that @surferjet and others are triggered by all sorts of banal stuff doesn't mean it's ok to say stuff about their kids. Most of us are defensive of slights against our kids.

BorisBogtrotter · 10/01/2019 11:14

Surferjet said that point in a thread ages ago.

Other posters gave her all sorts of advice on finding vocational courses at colleges etc.

No one has said her son was thick, but this was the only time surfer actually engaged and explained her reasons behind voting leave.

1tisILeClerc · 10/01/2019 11:16

Not sure what all this 'name calling' is about but if you want anything to happen in this world you have to put your big pants on, roll your sleeves up and get on with things. The world does not owe you a living.
Over half the planet has no social security, no pension and very poor health services. Without realistic efforts being put in by citizens of the UK, there is a long way for it to fall.

surferjet · 10/01/2019 11:16

BorisBogtrotter
& you decided today, to remind everyone that my son is not as bright or skilled as immigrants? Something I never actually said.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 11:18

Again, can't believe I'm defending @surferjet but if part of her concern is employment opportunities for her son casual or otherwise, then it is entirely valid to include this as a factor for decision making.
I don't agree with the decision made but I can see how someone gets to that.
What I don't like is the petulant nonsense saying people are bullying because they ask questions and get pissed off with no reasonable answers just tedious slogans.
I'd suggest not giving @surferjet ammunition.

surferjet · 10/01/2019 11:20

& even if I did say it - how nasty of you to mention it in the way you did, full of spite.

MarmotMorning · 10/01/2019 11:20

One big difference I see in remain/ leave discussions is that 'leave' people use a lot of words like 'think' 'feel' 'dont Like' and sweeping statements like 'want soverignity back' without backing this up with evidence as to what the specific problems are, their impact and how Brexit will improve things.

In contrast a lot of 'remain' supporters base

their reasoning on specific projections, facts and figures rather than an emotional 'i want to stay cos I luffs the EU'

I'm concious I'm in bit of an echo chamber and genuinely want to hear the leave side of the debate but I'm struggling to find the facts and figures to back up the statements.

BorisBogtrotter · 10/01/2019 11:21

Not at all.

Someone said you never give reasons.

I said you had.

BorisBogtrotter · 10/01/2019 11:23

"And of course, creating new technology is beyond our abilities"

But it doesn't solve the problem now does it.

Dismissing an issue because in future the technology may exist ridiculous.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 11:26

The WA addresses precisely the point that there may well be a technology solution. That's the answer. Not flouncing us all down the toilet with No Deal.
WA is the grown ups way of Leaving. No Deal is the tantrumming toddler way.

You’re not understanding.

Skilled workers from abroad are always welcome here in my book, if we have vacancies & they have the skills then brilliant!
It’s the unskilled workers we don’t want, because there’s not enough unskilled jobs for our own people these days, it’s a changing world with fewer & fewer opportunities for the lower skilled - so why make the situation worse by allowing more & more unskilled people into the country?

But the bleedin’ obvious has never been your strong point.

Dd’s have done very well at school - but ds hasn’t ( not really sure why ? )
He’ll leave with very little in the way of qualifications. That’s worrying as a parent.

Ifailed · 10/01/2019 11:28

I voted leave, if I wanted to live in a town where I heard nothing but foreign voices I'd move.
Which town is this?
