Eastern Europeans leaving.

Hi, I just wondered if this was widespread and if many people know of Eastern Europeans leaving the UK.
We have good friends who are Polish and they have moved to Scotland and have heard my dsis in another area say likewise, several Polish families have returned.
We don't have many in our area, but my dsis has a lot of Romanians in her workplace that seem to be staying.

This is what I thought too, but dsis seems to have seen a lot go.
She works in warehousing and the Romanian group seems to be growing but the previously 4 tables of Polish people in the canteen has been reduced to one, so 3/4 have gone home, to be replaced by Romanian.
She knows they have gone home because she has some as friends on fb. They said it was a direct reaction to Brexit, they all had jobs.

I have seen no evidence of East Europeans leaving Leicester. If anything there are more Polish shops than ever.

In one branch of Lidl, the clientele is so overwhelmingly EE that you will rarely hear English spoken, and it’s one of the few places in the city where you will rarely see a non-white face.

@Henrietta55 now that's not very nice is it. Are you going to do the jobs they used to do? Thought not.

Please don't say that. They worked and paid tax the same as you and I.
When our friends came here about 10 years ago they worked hard to create a business, they didn't accept any benefits even though they were entitled to.
Both are working now as the man didn't need his wife to help anymore as could afford to employ somebody, so his wife now works as support in a school.

OP I've heard this from a couple of people who live in another town

I'm in London, I have many eastern European neighbours, they are all staying. They are telling me that there's no sign of changes to their jobs yet...of course it might happen later though but they are waiting to see how things pan out.

My friend is Polish and has told me that lots of people are returning to Poland. They don't see the UK as a good option going forwards.

And how does that affect you Henrietta?

And maybe there be more job opportunities for the lower class/impoverished British kids who leave school with no GCSEs.

Why is that a problem for you Henrietta? All official studies show that EU men and women are hugely beneficial net contributors compared to those native born.

Dd is worried for her friend's family. She's in the first year of a 3 year diploma and her younger sister has only ever known life in the UK and has SEN. They moved here 6/7 years ago and dd wonders how long they will be allowed to stay.

You mean coming here and working in the NHS and teaching and building and generally contributing to our communities and living ordinary lives indistinguishable from any other human beings? Gosh.

On the opposite side my dd has always wanted to work in Europe. She had originally planned on trying to get work in Germany once she graduates in 2 and half years time and where chances of employment in her chosen career are higher. Now that is looking increasingly unlikely.

I work at a university and lots of our academics are on fixed term contracts. I know that a few are thinking of going elsewhere when their contracts end. One of my Polish friends moved house recently and went to register with a doctor - the receptionist said she couldn't allow it until she provided proof of her earnings because she wasn't British. This is bullshit and not a requirement of the NHS. She went to another doctor and registered no bother.

I think most eu citizens will stay. They'll have their lives built here.

I've noticed a slight change in arrivals and departures at DDs London primary, families leaving over the last two years have been those born in Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Poland.Those arriving were born in India,China, Iran and several Trump escapees from the US.

I'm immensely sad to see the departures, but happy with arrivals too. London always has been and always will be an international global city you see.

Yes I know some people have returned as they don't feel welcome here and don't see Britain as a good future home. But it does depend on personal circumstances. If you have married someone British and had kids as someone I know has, then you will be more likely to stay than if you are single and without kids.
