I am allowed to defend my parents country. Stop reading the tabloids and start educating yourself.

I am so disappointed UK cannot open their eyesAngry

SportTeam · 20/12/2018 15:00

Tell me more about this education you believe people should start, how do you suggest they go about it?

Helmetbymidnight · 20/12/2018 15:00

Just because you are born to Russian parents doesn’t mean you are an expert on putin or Russia’s foreign affairs.

The evidence points overwhelmingly to putin interference.

No one here thinks normal ‘Russians’ are bad. And I can tell you, my Russian friends in the U.K. don’t agree with you.

Want2bSupermum · 20/12/2018 15:01

Putin and Trump are actually very similar. I think Putin threw the US election so he wouldn't have to neigotiate with Hilary Clinton. Putin doesn't want a war yet and Trump is too much a pussy to go to war. This gives time for Russia to build up their military. I think Russia supported Brexit because it fit with their vision but I think Brexit was home grown and it was only when the election came about that Russia got involved. The EU has cut Russia off and quite critical of Russia, ironic as they are just as bad as each other.

For years now Russia will fly close to the Uk coast and see what the RAF (or what's left of it) response time is. The whole radioactive poisoning thing I don't believe we are being told the whole truth. I have a suspicion it wasnt as was reported in the Uk. I can't help but wonder if there was a Chechnya/Islamic link. It makes no sense why Putins government would poison Russian people here in the UK.

Augusta2012 · 20/12/2018 15:04

Britain as a neutral location would be a prime-site for money laundering to/from the EU and for basing intelligence operations.

Leaving the. EU would not make the UK a neutral country. Don’t make stuff up.

I would imagine that Putin probably likes the idea of Brexit because he probably thinks the weakening of a sabre rattling, aggressive and expansionist organisation which is trying to expand up to its border is a good thing.

SportTeam · 20/12/2018 15:04

I also don't understand why the UK left are interested in right-wing Russia?

Russiawithlove · 20/12/2018 15:04

My point is that no correct procedures were carried out to CONFIRM Russia were involved.

I'm not an expat I was born in the UK. I spend 8 months a year in Russia. It has better prospects for me than the UK now.

Augusta2012 · 20/12/2018 15:05

Especially when that organisation has form for destabilising and agitating to overthrow democratically elected parliaments.

EerieSilence · 20/12/2018 15:06

He's a shit stirred because he knows that weakened EU is best for him. He already managed to fuck up the US, now it's the EU.
He's smart and dangerous. They didn't grow fools in the KGB.

ABCagain · 20/12/2018 15:06

I don’t know why anyone would bother about Putin when we’ve got our very own home grown Comrade Corbyn.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 15:11

the alleged poisoning but It did not happen

You can argue over who did the poisoning (i know who i think did it)

But it obviously happened!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 15:13

No fan of corbyn

But i wouldnt put him in the same league as putin

AssassinatedBeauty · 20/12/2018 15:14

I would love you to educate us on the reasons why we are being made to hate Russia, @Russiawithlove? Could you let us know what sources of information are trustworthy in your opinion, and how someone in the UK can judge that?

Russiawithlove · 20/12/2018 15:15

This will be my final post on Mumsnet..all I have encountered over the last few days is blatant racism.

Thank You to all the lovely posters I've met over the years.
To the narrow minded middle class bigots....i hope you realise soon that no other nation gives a toss about the UK

Cherries101 · 20/12/2018 15:15

Russia is always going to be pro-Euro exit. They supported Greece when they tried Grexit and will support Britain with Brexit. Why? Because if you remove a country from the EU, that country would then need to look further afield for trade (Russia). However, in Britain’s case, South and Southeast Asian trade is a more ‘natural’ fit due to better English skills / existing links etc.

MephistophelesApprentice · 20/12/2018 15:15

Yeah, Putin is actually competent.

MrsTerryPratcett · 20/12/2018 15:16

Russia has shit state-influenced media. The UK has shit billionaire-influenced media.

What we both need is decent, independent, brave, non-partisan media.

PerkingFaintly · 20/12/2018 15:18

Really? I thought Putin was very in favour of Russia being a sabre rattling, aggressive and expansionist organisation.

Although of course Russia has expanded OVER it's border and militarily annexed bits of its neighbours.

Or was that not what you meant?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 15:19

Exactly mephistopheles

(And ruthless and manipulative and 'clever' and loads of other things that aren't necessarily good)

RandomObject · 20/12/2018 15:21

'i hope you realise soon that no other nation gives a toss about the UK'

Yes, as members of the G7 we are of course completely irrelevant in the world Hmm

Don't talk nonsense. Also Russian isn't a race.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 15:24

The politics of geography book is fascinating, especially on the subject of Russia

Well worth a read and explains why various countries are the way they are

Ie Europe using its rivers to trade and Africa finding it more difficult, and china and india being 'forced' to get along

Russiawithlove · 20/12/2018 15:25

You may be a member but you are also a laughing stock.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 15:26

You?

What happened to we?

RandomObject · 20/12/2018 15:26

'you are also a laughing stock.'

No arguments there. Simply pointing out that if Putin didn't give a toss about the UK he wouldn't be commenting on Brexit.

Russiawithlove · 20/12/2018 15:29

Sorry Rufus I'm just starting to realise that I feel like I don't belong. You though have been always v polite.
