Hesta
Not to hard, I’m now left in a position where, I don’t want TM deal, I don’t want no deal, and I don’t want to remain.
Another brilliant example of someone wanting an impossible bespoke Brexit - no wonder it's such a mess

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 18:40

@Hesta54
I don’t want TM deal, I don’t want no deal, and I don’t want to remain.
what DO you want?
As any good politician, he is waiting to see which way the land lies
That is a spineless politician, not a good one.

Peregrina · 07/12/2018 18:41

he’s waiting to see what the options arise

He's had two and a half years - what's stopped him bothering to think about it?

Jason118 · 07/12/2018 18:47

@Hesta54
I don’t want TM deal, I don’t want no deal, and I don’t want to remain.
Will you scweam and scweam 'til your sick if you don't get what you want?

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 19:13

As I said, @Hesta54 , I've told my MP. He can ignore me as he prefers. I can ignore him at next election.
That's how democracy works.
Of course, I am only one voice. But I always vote in every election and I always engage with my MP.

pointythings · 07/12/2018 19:27

Well, we Remainers may be a bunch of middle-class bubble-dwellers (according to some) Hmm but at least we bloody well know what we want!

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 20:13

pointythings Well that’s what most of you seem like, I know what I want and it’s neither of them options, when we voted 2 out of 3 weren’t on the vote paper, one was but not in that way ( TM deal as it stands )

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 20:22

@Hesta54
I know what I want and it’s neither of them options
So what exactly do you want ?

at 17.45 I listed the three possible outcomes
which one do you want?

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 20:25

pointythings Sorry just to clarify 2-3 options I wanted to vote for

pointythings · 07/12/2018 20:29

I echo Talkinpeece, Hesta - what do you actually want? So far the one thing that comes across from your post is that you want fewer immigrants, no matter what the cost to you and a hell of a lot of other people might be.

My DDs and I have the option of getting out of this country if we want to. A lot of my DDs' friends - bright young people, many from working class backgrounds, many the first generation doing A-levels, many of them in direct conflict with their Leave-voting parents over Brexit will end up having a swathe of opportunities to better themselves taken away from them. They won't be thanking anyone who voted Leave.

icannotremember · 07/12/2018 21:15

As any good politician, he is waiting to see which way the land lies
How is that being a good politician? How is he serving you by waiting? We're on course to leave the EU in less than 4 months. If all our MPs do is sit around waiting we'll crash out with no deal. The country will be fucked. You will suffer. People you care about will suffer.

lonelyplanetmum · 07/12/2018 22:48

^ I know what I want and it’s neither of them options^

The problem is there was no plan not even an outline in June 2016.

We all voted for a pig in a poke- which pig was it?

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 22:56

Thinking of Leavers unwilling / unable to clarify exactly what they want ....
did surferjet ever explain why Belgian nurses are bad but Brazilian ones are OK?

Hesta54 · 08/12/2018 07:31

Talkinpeece As I said earlier none of the 3 options, let’s see how this week plays out, more options may develop,
Re politicians long gone are the days where I think they represent us, they are mostly trying to look after themselves and bettering their political career,

Hesta54 · 08/12/2018 07:42

pointythings on average less than 14,000 Uk students study in the E.U per year, that’s a very small percentage who may miss out, life is not just about what’s good for them,
Many people have missed out on opportunities due to uncontrolled FOM

Hesta54 · 08/12/2018 07:45

lonelyplanetmum there was two options on the vote card, I missed the part about having to submit a detailed plan, ( was that on the back ) I would have thought the elected parliament would have that covered, I thought that was their job

bellinisurge · 08/12/2018 07:46

"Many people have missed out on opportunities due to uncontrolled FOM"
Examples please. I can, of the top of my head and obviously only using "anecdata" name 20 instances where the opposite happened for ordinary working class British people.

Moussemoose · 08/12/2018 08:32

You may think Parliament had it covered but it was apparent there was no leave plan. As a voter you have a responsibility to engage with politicians and their plans.

No Brexit plan was put forward, there were no details, no discussions had been held. It was clear it was unfocused and I'll thought through. With that knowledge you voted for it.

Guess what it turns out to be a shambles which is exactly what the remain camp said it would be.

lonelyplanetmum · 08/12/2018 09:02

I missed the part about having to submit a detailed plan, ( was that on the back ) I would have thought the elected parliament would have that covered, I thought that was their job

I didn't say anything about voters being the ones to submit a plan? I agree it was the government's job. You are 100% right there. But they haven't been able to reach consensus on a plan, and certainly not a glimmer of one that leaves us better off.

We voted to explore the options for quitting membership. We've now done that and they're worse than shit.

Before the Scottish ref there was a 670 page document entitled Scotland's future so they knew more detail of what they were voting for.

Where was our 670 page document in 2016? The Leave option was, and still is, undefined. It was a vote for a pig in a poke.

We have now opened the poke and looked inside. The only options are a miniature scrawny aged guinea pig with acute hair loss or a very small runt of the litter with numerous mental and physical health problems and doubtful longevity.

1tisILeClerc · 08/12/2018 09:12

I suppose since 'Leave' was so ill defined, what could be done is just rebrand it. Actually implement the 3 month rule for immigration. Introduce a universal ID card so it looks as if something is happening and 'cracking down' then just give all the rest of the issues a bit of a respray or polish and declare it job done.
There is the small matter of paying the many billions to compensate for the UK having been a complete arse, and then a lot of work will need to be done to try and recover some dignity from the horrendous insults that many in the government and opposition have been bandying around for the last 3 years.

1tisILeClerc · 08/12/2018 09:16

Lonely, Why does that middle picture remind me of Tony Blair?

pointythings · 08/12/2018 09:19

The number of UK students going to the EU has been rising. And along with the about 14,000 young people a year that Leavers have shafted, there are also the British nationals who will now not be considered for jobs with international corporations, because it will be harder for them to travel through the EU - and business doesn't want that hassle.

So what opportunities do you think will arise for UK nationals after we 'control' immigration (which the UK were already doing)?

Peregrina · 08/12/2018 09:28

I missed the part about having to submit a detailed plan, ( was that on the back )

Funnily enough, Leave posters on these threads have spent two and a half years telling us what 17 million people voted for, but without there having being a PTO and options listed, no one actually knows. So it's good to see at least one Leaver acknowledge this.

lonelyplanetmum · 08/12/2018 09:29

Lonely, Why does that middle picture remind me of Tony Blair?

Well at least Hameron didn't spring to mind!

1tisILeClerc · 08/12/2018 09:34

The 'Yellow Jackets' in France started their protest over fuel price hikes which hit the rural economy particularly badly but now they have produced a 'manifesto' with 25 demands.
With all the 'advisors' available to the government why did they fail to jot down a few ideas to define what 'Leave' might mean. They have had nearly 3 years and they still have no clue.
