Between your nirvana of a nicely functioning visa system and nicely functioning economy @Hesta54 is a world of total shit that some people are still calling Project Fear. Or ... the reality of No Deal.

GD12 · 07/12/2018 14:46

^^We will but not having access to the largest single market in the world will significantly damage our economy. Businesses have bought into the UK for access to the single market. We live in a connected world and and very interlinked Europe.

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 15:07

GD12 We will after we negotiated a deal with the E.U.

lonelyplanetmum · 07/12/2018 15:16

Yes Hesta We will trade with EU countries eventually but not so easily, and not on such favourable terms. There will be loads of the dreaded red tape and It will cost the country more.

Concerns about EU immigration are all mixed up ( completely incorrectly) with fears of all sorts of things including fears of otherness, fears of terrorism. However it's illogical and ill conceived to mix those things up.

EU immigration is proven to be economically and socially needed -it is vastly beneficial. Our kids get to work in Italy, Lithuanian kids come and work here.

Having a different visa system for EU men and women won't stop some bad people coming in from anywhere (Russian poisoners for eg). It won't stop weirdos like that McGreavy being born here.

The US has a different visa system compared to us - yet bad things happen there. Saudi Arabia has a ruthlessly strict residency permit system - bad things happen there.

Trashing our great trade deal to enable us to have a different visa system for French or Polish workers isn't going to stop a weirdo arriving from there or from Asia,America,Africa. It only happens occasionally and always will- whatever system you have.

jasjas1973 · 07/12/2018 15:27

We will after we negotiated a deal with the E.U

we ve already got a fantastic trade deal with the EU, so lets trash that and talk about having a worse one for a few years and in the meantime, companies will leave or wind down due to lack of workers and uncertainty... what a great fcuking idea that is!

Brexit as i've always said, is a business opportunity for the EU.

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:01

jasjas1973 Best ask Parliament, they are the ones how fault it was necessary to put it to a public vote,

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:10

jasjas1973 But still ask everyone of the 17.4 million people and the 25% that didn’t vote, they felt that the E.U. was not something they felt was good to be part of, yes you may call them thick and stupid ( you lot usually do, really helps the situation) but they for what ever reason felt that the E.U. was not serving them in the best interest, after the remain side failed to show them pre referendum

1tisILeClerc · 07/12/2018 16:13

Hesta
While the government, actually both sides, have behaved very badly, but ultimately you put a cross on the ballot paper so you need to own your decision and not hand back the problem of trying to achieve a 'goal' that was so diverse as to be impossible.

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:18

1tisILeClerc I do own my decision ( what ever that means) I’m I no position to influence, alter, amend etc The ongoing decision that Parliament makes

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 16:31

Yes you are @Hesta54 . You can speak to your MP, you can message the Prime Minister. You can do something other than sitting back and letting other people sort out the shitty situation you and the other Leave voters created.

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 16:35

@Hesta54
Write to your MP
post on their facebook
post on their twitter
They have to listen to you as you voted them in.
Passive acceptance is NOT an option

1tisILeClerc · 07/12/2018 16:36

Hesta, do you mean you MAKE your own decision and that you are IN no position to influence?

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:40

bellinisurge If her existing cabinet can’t get her to listen, I hardly think she going to take any notice of our opinions

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:41

Talkinpeece I went to my local Mp’s surgery the other day, he’s going to vote against the deal

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 16:42

1tisILeClerc Not this particular decision, at this moment it’s not in my hands

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 16:43

@Hesta54
And once he has voted against the deal, what will he vote for?
As No Deal is jumping out of the plane with no parachute.

Too many Brexiters tell us what they do not want
but go silent when asked to clarify exactly what they DO want

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 17:00

So engage with your MP. Ask her/him what's next after voting down the deal.
As for the Prime Minister, she's going over the heads of ministers and talking to the people. So, talk to her.
You can't just vote Leave and then expect others to sort out your mess. Toddler behaviour.

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 17:03

Why are you engaging with people on here @Hesta54 ? Do you want to change our minds? Why aren't you asking your MP what's next? Or, why aren't you telling your MP what you want next.
According to some Leavers, you might get No Brexit. Why aren't you fighting to stop that by lobbying you MP? Or, are you fed up and want the grown ups to make decisions for you now?

Peregrina · 07/12/2018 17:27

I agree with bellinsurge and Talkinpeece.

It's a cop out to say, "it's up to Parliament, I can do nothing." We had an MP who voted Remain, in a Remain voting constituency, who conveniently forgot this and sung from the Party hymn sheet about Brexit means Brexit and the will of the people, and whatever May's soundbite was that week. By September 2016 I decided that I had had enough of her and got involved in politics with the explicit aim of getting her voted out. When May called her election, said MP suddenly woke up to tell us she voted Remain , but sadly for her, too many of her constituents have long memories and knew how she'd sung from the Leave hymn sheet, and dismissed our legitimate concerns. We duly did voter her out. You Hesta54 either need to get involved more involved, although going to a Surgery is a start, or say to yourself that you have copped out, so whatever happens is OK with you.

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 17:39

bellinisurge What next, he’s waiting to see what the options arise, he wants to leave, the area voted to leave, Good luck with voting him out average majority of 15,00 last 3 gen elections.

Talkinpeece · 07/12/2018 17:45

@Hesta54
he’s waiting to see what the options arise
Not good enough.
You are on these threads.
You KNOW what the options are.
You have seen the links to the briefing papers ...

The options are
(a) No Deal - jump out of the plane with no parachute
(b) May's deal - jump out of the plane with a small parachute
(c) Cancel Brexit - stay on the plane.

Norway have stated that they will not offer an invitation to EFTA
TM's red lines scupper any other deal
Time is running out

Which version will your MP propose instead of May's deal?
Wait and see IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 17:56

@Hesta54 - are you filling this under "too hard"? Then why the heck did you vote Leave if you are not prepared to fight for it? There is now a realistic option of No Brexit. Why aren't you telling your MP that under no circumstances is she/he to accept this? Or do you think the circumstances for accepting it have arrived? If so, why are you bothering to post on here with stuff you no longer believe in?

bellinisurge · 07/12/2018 18:03

I've emailed my MP to say "under no circumstances are you to allow No Deal". That's my view. He now knows it. He may ignore me. He may do something different. He may agree with me.
But he knows how one of his constituents feel. If other constituents do the same, he will know how they feel. If you are in my constituency and you haven't contacted him, he doesn't know your view.

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 18:23

Talkinpeece As any good politician, he is waiting to see which way the land lies, will the deal get voted down, will TM go back to the E.U.,will she push for a second vote, resign, GE,

Hesta54 · 07/12/2018 18:28

bellinisurge Not to hard, I’m now left in a position where, I don’t want TM deal, I don’t want no deal, and I don’t want to remain.
Do you think your amp takes any notice off what you say ( no disrespect) but he will either have has his own opinion or will tow the party line, but at least it makes you feel you’ve done your bit
