AIBU to think that if the government stopped or paused Brexit, it is highly unlikely there would be massive 'civil' unrest ?

I have heard people say that if Brexit was stopped or even paused there would be riots and mass civil unrest as a result. I honestly don't think there would be, I know a lot of people would be annoyed or angry.

Would any leave voter on here seriously consider rioting ?

"You both didn't know what you were voting for.

See how insulting that is now?"

See. I don't say this. I think Leave voters knew exactly what they were voting for. I also think that not all of them are No Dealers. Because they have accepted they were had.

Prettybird - "Soooo many inaccuracies that are easily refuted"

Where are they then? I've not seen them on here.

prettybird · 19/11/2018 18:33

My 81 year old dad voted Remain - as did all of his friends (some of whom have since died Sad).

FFS - even I, in my late 50s, can remember what life was like before we joined the EEC. I don't have rose-tinted spectacles. I can remember my parents having up organise payment of as much as possible in advance of travel abroad. I can remember the UK begging to join discussions about joining the EEC. I can remember going to the IMF and the pound's devaluation.

I can remember people voting 67% to stay in the EEC as they believed in the peace and prosperity it would bring to the UK (which it did: it was just the subsequent UK governments which chose not to share it). And yes, they did know it was more than just "a common market".

Anyway, back to essay reading Grin

OutsideInTheGarden · 19/11/2018 18:34

Peregrina - "We are all more than old enough to remember what the country was like before we went into the Common Market"

And are you sensible enough to separate out the benefits brought by world-wide progress in technology etc and the actual (if any) benefits of membership of the EEC/EU?

hitler was NOT a vegetarian

Not the point of the thread i know

Can I just say that I adore Outside? 😍

jasjas1973 · 19/11/2018 18:41

@OutsideInTheGarden

Most of what you ve posted can be refuted but you diverge on that stuff and move it all on to more eurobollox.
So your latest spectacular is that EDL etc are UK security services run organisations....

Evidence please? or do you now wish to vomit up some more cr@p

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/11/2018 18:45

theelements

Really?

Thats er...nice

TheElementsSong · 19/11/2018 18:48

Rufus they have such an engaging posting style, familiar and yet refreshing with many innovations. I'm really enjoying the whole thing.

Like... anybody remember The Incredibles first movie?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/11/2018 18:51

Yes i do...

I recognise the style as well

No idea from where though

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/11/2018 18:52

Oh and if outside is reading im sure you're lovely

You just aren't coming across as very adorable

Miscible · 19/11/2018 19:00

As another one who can remember pre-EEC days, I'm definitely sensible enough to be able to identify the benefits that accrued from that rather than from things like technology developments, hence the fact I voted Remain and would do so again tomorrow if given the chance. It is, quite simply, idle to think that the UK can expect nothing to change for the worse post Brexit, and even more so to think that being out of the EU will bring about change for the better. We don't have an empire any more, nor do we have the manufacturing base we used to have.

But then, anyone who thinks there have never been fascists in the UK is in a world of delusion anyway.

OutsideInTheGarden · 19/11/2018 19:03

I'm not looking for friends on here, just trying to inject another point of view to the Remainer echo chamber.

now - really my dinner is on the table - I must go or it'll be in the dog I have to walk afterwards. Smile

CarolDanvers · 19/11/2018 19:09

Trust the older people who voted for this? What like my dad who almost bursts with rage whenever he comes to my multi cultural city and hears all "this foreign shit" i.e those speaking a foreign language, if we go for a walk. "Doesn't it make you angry never hearing any English?!" he rants.

No. I won't trust him thanks.

twofingerstoEverything · 19/11/2018 19:44

Britain First, EDL and BNP are all controlled opposition set up and run by the UK security services.

Grin Grin Grin

(He missed out the Identitarians.)

KennDodd · 19/11/2018 19:53

@OutsideInTheGarden

Can I have a little recap on what we've learnt about you.

New to MN
Think you're right about Brexit and Mark Carney, 90% of economists and the Government's own impact assessments are wrong.
You don't trust Germans
You and all your family have, or have access to EU passports, so loss of rights doesn't affect you.
You think Britian First, BNP, and EDL and just the UK security services pretending.
You've got a dog.

Have I got a good measure of you there?

KennDodd · 19/11/2018 19:55

Sorry

You think Britian First, BNP, and EDL are just the UK security services pretending.

Peregrina · 19/11/2018 20:10

Nope. No magical technology required just basic common-or-garden customs processes and methods that are in use all over the world.

If this is all so simple then why are there queues at the Swiss border, Norwegian/Swedish borders, borders from Turkey. And why do they need a backstop for N Ireland.
You really do seem to be in the Davis/Raab/Dorries school of knowledge.

KennDodd · 19/11/2018 20:15

@OutsideInTheGarden

Oh and one more thing we've just learnt about you.

You usually have about 15 different people in my house every day (not random delivery people either).

Really? What for? Run a business from home? Parties every night?

KennDodd · 19/11/2018 20:19

Ooh, another one I forgot.

You're planning civil disobedience if Brexit is stopped by another referendum.

twofingerstoEverything · 19/11/2018 20:26

Kenn 15 different people in his house = code for running a brothel...

FishesaPlenty · 19/11/2018 20:34

15 different people in my house every day

Wow, that's a high turnover of carers.

OutsideInTheGarden · 20/11/2018 00:34

It's not 15 different people every day, just the same ones again and again, with a few extras thrown in every few days.

Perhaps I'm a Priest?

1tisILeClerc · 20/11/2018 07:54

Drug dealer?
