The DUP are playing silly buggers.
The EU are getting nervous and turning down the pressure.
The ERG still want Schroedingers Brexit.
The Budget is coming. So is a government defeat or climb down.
The M26 is closing.

Keep thinking of the glorious freedom your blue passport will give up whilst you search waste tips.

Perhaps she will have an induction/CS to make sure it comes on the 'right' date for Govt.

GD12 - I am not at all surprised - who is going to risk losing their money if their holiday can't go ahead. When is the Govt going to begin to listen?

Somerville · 15/10/2018 09:09

I also note that Newsletter is reporting that the wee scrotebag Sammy Wilson says DUP won't trigger an election. www.newsletter.co.uk/news/sammy-wilson-dup-won-t-trigger-an-election-in-case-jeremy-corbyn-gets-in-1-8668472

GD12 · 15/10/2018 09:13

@Peregrina pray to God soon because I've got a mortgage and an 8mo riding on my job.

This is just madness.

The government needs to really openly spell out the implications of no deal on all affected areas - ideally a leaflet sent to every home as vast majority of people don't even realise there are impact papers published on the government website.

Most people have no idea whether their jobs will be impacted. DH is frustratingly blasé, but his job involves a lot of travelling and selling/client relationships across Europe. I've asked him what the impact of no deal is and he says he's been told nothing so it will be fine.

But what if it's not?

What an utter shitstorm. My friend was incredulous when I mentioned flights possibly not happening for a while after no deal - in the kind or 'they would never let that happen' way

Argh so anxious and frustrated. I'm marching next weekend but what the hell else can I do??

RedToothBrush · 15/10/2018 09:32

So we are to expect the full on no deal announcement today then?

When's Prince Phillip being deployed as part of the government Brexit plan?

GD12 This was the same with BMW's maintenance shutdown being brought forward - just announced, no consultation.
But what does May's Government care about a car factory in Oxford? The city voted Remain, the Council is Labour, the Oxford East, where the factory is, is Labour. No votes for the Tories there, so they can go hang.
Forgive me for being cynical.

Peregrina · 15/10/2018 09:34

Oxford East MP that should say - missed the MP typing in anger.

bellinisurge · 15/10/2018 09:35

My dh is quietly freaking out. I've told him that all we can control is our domestic situation re food etc. Which we have, because I'm a prepper.
The rest of this shit show? All we can do is watch. We can't get away for the March on Oct 20.

I don't wish it on him, but Phil is getting on quite a bit, so maybe he will pass on, and then the Govt will shut down for 10 days of mourning.

@Mrsr8 I don't know if they have. I think it's more just a case of continuing like normal because they don't know what was going to happen. Now that it is happening they're having to put things in place. I personally wouldn't book a holiday for after April next year but then I'm.not going to tell people that or I'd be out a job now!

bellinisurge · 15/10/2018 09:39

@Peregrina - I assume you mean that as a joke.
To be frank, a royal baby will be the "oo, squirrel" that will keep the papers busy.

Gumpendorf · 15/10/2018 09:46

the Tories will never govern again

They are 4% ahead in the polls!

I've had various uncomfortable conversations with young family members this weekend over Saturday's March. All remain voters and all would prefer to be in the EU rather than out of it. However, they are now keen to get it over with, deal with the consequences and move on to other things. It can't be so bad and 'we'll cope' is their philosophy. They are happy to see Ireland reunited, and Scotland independent if that's what it takes. 'Sometimes things change. '

In their late 20s/ 30s with large mortgages and jobs in public sector, universities.

Peregrina · 15/10/2018 09:46

Yes, I did mean that as a joke, and realised it was a bit near the knuckle.
The Royal baby will be the biggy.

Gary and Michelle might not behave as the Tory rags want, and blame the EU. Think of that other Michelle who was on QT, not realising that the Tories regarded her as a benefit scrounger. She's now joined Momentum, having come from a Tory background.

BBC breakfast ran an item this morning on issues surrounding the Irish border. Without mentioning the GFA.

Speechless.

HalfStar · 15/10/2018 09:54

Happy to see Ireland United and Scotland independent. Unbelievably facile Angry

I keep waiting and waiting for MN to fill up with 'so what's actually going to happen with brexit?' threads. Never does. There were far more for the US presidential election. Seems like so few people are following proceedings.

woman11017 · 15/10/2018 09:55

Presume so. I presume like Peregrina also there will be a 'circus' birth or death announcement.

I wonder if the march will be allowed.

SusanWalker · 15/10/2018 09:55

At what point, constitutionally speaking, would the queen get involved? Does she have a duty to step in and prevent civil war or something? I know she stays completely neutral but as head of state surely there must be a point at which she says something, or does she literally do nothing at any point until being evacuated in her private helicopter to the South of France or somewhere?

GD12 · 15/10/2018 10:01

@Gumpendorf The Tories will never govern again after people realise and see the mess of a no deal and the catastrophic consequences. People are largely unaware atm.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 15/10/2018 10:02

I've noticed that happening a lot too singing. But the BBC never were great with their coverage of NI. I learned young they tended to use Irish when news was bad and mention they're part of the UK only when there's good news. I'm guessing that's why we learned soon after the referendum there were so many grown adults who didn't know NI was even part of the UK.
