Boris Johnson is clearing the decks for a leadership challenge.

I guess that means that the Brexit we get all depends on what George, Michael and Boris decide over lunch and how good Operation Yellowhammer is.

I think it's time for my latest garden picture. I'll be making sure the raised beds are well stocked for next year Wink. The greenhouse (dh's dad's which we've finally moved over to our place) is going to really help get a head start during the "hungry month".

I'll enjoy picking my own asparagus next year Smile

You have to be very privileged to rejoice at the "freedom" of risking the jobs of so many people
and risking the supplies of drugs that keep others alive & healthy

BigChocFrenzy · 11/09/2018 17:34

Lots of space to grow veg ! Wink

Mother if No Deal happens, how are teachers going to get to work? And teach all day? And will the light and heating stay on?

And is it fair to test children, with the same test, when state school children will have been hit harder than private school children?

And when some children will have been hit far harder by chaos than others?

As for university students ... I doubt there is any mass planning for those at all. In fact, I worry about my university-attending child more than my school-age child.

10degrees.
Rather than spouting complete crap all the time try using your braincell.
ALL of the people passing laws or regulations are democratically elected. All the laws and regulations emanating from the EU were ratified by UK MEPs. There are some regulations and laws where the UK had a veto and does not follow the other countries.

The government is hiding its Brexit plans by making firms sign secretive 'gagging agreements'

This is why we don't as much information as expected:

https://www.businessinsider.de/uk-hiding-brexit-plans-by-using-gagging-agreements-2018-3?r=US&IR=T

The government has forced "many dozens" of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) into the consultation process with logistics companies which operate at Britain's borders, according to Sky News.

The agreements mean that the firms cannot publicly comment on information shared with the government about the impact of different Brexit scenarios on the movement of goods coming in and out of the country.

Meg Hillier MP, the chair of the public accounts committee, told Sky News the activity is "extremely unusual" and "a sign of Government paranoia" over Britain's departure from the European Union.

An enviable garden prettybird. Much better than mine, but I expect I don't put enough work in! However, now that the weather is cooler, the grass is recovering, apart from one or two bare patches. Do I reseed, or do I turn them into flower/veg beds?

Does Boris sense the tide turning on Brexit? It's all the same to him whether we Brexit or not, but he wants to be on the winning side.

Hazardswan · 11/09/2018 17:44

don't cry

Other than scream in the faces of everyone in government who is doing this to sick people not much people can do except try and sort themselves out like bell suggests.

I'm actually more worried about everyone else, I know most people who are sick/disabled are stocking meds for March a disruption before that has not been planned for.

Having used the NHS frequently I'm doubtful at it's capacity to handle this. From ambulances taking ages to arrive to drs lacking specialist knowledge it is already treacherous. And the language doctors are using is changing everything that isn't a stubbed toe is being classed as complex - it's bizarre. (Not to slag off NHS here but it's just been underfunded for to long).

The big hooray a few weeks back over using immunotherapy to treat some types of cancer in kids was celebrated, as it should, but that kind of treatment has been available world wide for years. In my cynical mind it's a distraction technique, the NHS is screaming for more funds but Westminster and the media make a big deal at the one thing thats going ok as if to dismiss any other fuss as a myth.

It feels like a very weird period of time atm.

Thank you to everyone here, all of you have helped me out at some point in understanding this madness and answering my questions! Star

Let's hope my love is big enough to stop brexit Grin

I know, Hazardswan. I'm pretty sure the 7 month delay between me getting ill and seeing a consultant is a contributory factor in my present condition of not being able to walk some days.

That 7 month delay was during the period when non-emergency treatment in the NHS ground to a halt.

My GP pretty much told me there was an unofficial triage system going on: if you were well enough to wait, you were well enough not to be seen. I, it seems, should have presented at A and E, which was, by then, operating as the only way to access treatment.

It's really not good.

But, 💐❤️ to you and your DH.

There's a few things they can and you can do @thecatfromjapan .
Get into the habit of always having water handy.
Have a get home plan - know how to use paper maps.
Have change for a pay phone and your number memorised.
Remember how to send SMS messages - apparently this system is the most likely to work first if there is a problem.
Hope they can rustle up a meal from tins. Worth learning that skill.

Hazardswan · 11/09/2018 18:00

Mrs did you stockpile on the NHS or through other avenues? Shame if it's a wasted stockpile...but imagine the trades you could do with it Wink

cat sorry for your experience and how it's caused you pain. And absolutely snap! DP now long term suffering due to delayed access to appropriate care...not that we're bitter or anything. totally a bit bitter here

TheElementsSong · 11/09/2018 18:02

It's really very apposite that we had the honour of a visit from a Leave poster, right in the middle of a conversation about fearing for a loved-one's life-saving medication. Just perfectly highlights the two opposing viewpoints.

In fact, it is so perfect that I wish we could have more such exchanges played out on the main boards for all the "undecideds" to observe. Shame MN are so assiduous in squirrelling these threads away.
