Have your frienships and family relationships suffered as a result of Brexit?

Just that, really. If friends and/ or family members have clearly voted differently to you, has it changed the way you see them or interact with them? Have friendships broken down?

I haven't been able to vote, but the outcome of the vote affects me disproportionately. Family members have voted Leave. There have been arguments, also between friends, some ended in loss of contact.

I wonder how the Brexit vote has affected others on here?

Anyhow! Bored now!
I'll leave you all to your ruminating and worrying!
Such a shame!

Buteo · 04/09/2018 19:04

I just wish someone would tell me what they think GB will be like if we just let hoardes of people in from Africa and the Middle East and the rest of the World.

  1. It's the UK, not GB.
  1. Migrants from Africa, Middle East and RoW (excluding EU) are all subject to current UK visa requirements.
  1. Migrants from Africa, Middle East and RoW have nothing to do with the EU, unless you're referring to refugees.
  1. "Hoardes" [sic] in relation to migrants and / or refugees is derogatory.
  1. Did you join or just name change to post this drivel?

HTH hun.

prettybird · 04/09/2018 19:32

FWIW (and not that the WM Government cares Hmm) Scotland actually needs more immigration whatever the English racists might think as it has a relatively static population and, like the rest of the UK, an aging indigenous population. And plenty of room Grin

jasjas1973 · 04/09/2018 19:37

What will this country be like in 20/30 years with uncontrolled immigration?
Just answer me that, will you

No political party is suggesting FOM for the rest of the world post Brexit.

UK may well grant visas to non EU Healthcare and Agri workers, students as always, good earner.
Refugees will find it harder to get sanctuary here.

You are worrying about nothing.

I was quite shocked when an acquaintance I thought was quite reasonable put up a ranty post on FB saying she had to restrain herself from 'spitting at pensioners' because she blamed them all for voting Leave. Confused
I've given her a wide berth since.

Wholymoley · 04/09/2018 19:55

Well, SunnyInGrimsby that's what these Remainers are like

There's quite as few on here would probably like to spit at me!

I say Live and let Live!

Buteo · 04/09/2018 20:01

Shouldn’t that be chavvy!!!!!!

I do like exclamation marks.

Benjaminbuttonschild · 04/09/2018 20:03

Wholy is another reason why we shouldn't have had this referendum

Wholymoley · 04/09/2018 20:12

Just think! If DDavid had known about meeeee!

It would have changed the course of history.

Shame!

And just for you Buteo as you insist.

You seem very chavvy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moussemoose · 04/09/2018 20:22

Well fellow remainers I feel our work here is done. We have no need to explain or make points @Wholymoley is doing our anti Brexit work for us.

jasjas1973 · 04/09/2018 20:38

@Wholymoley

You are welcome!

Perhaps you could tell me what sort Brexit you voted for? WTO, Canada, Norway, unique fta with EU... ?

i am of course assuming you voted to leave?

frumpety · 04/09/2018 20:38

Wholymoley Brexit isn't going to happen, any fool can see that now.

Buteo · 04/09/2018 20:42

I suspect Wholeymoly might be wanting to build bridges in a Norwegian style.

BuffyBee · 04/09/2018 21:21

Well jasjas I had hoped that as we had such close ties with the EU the trading deals would have been easier for the UK than another country trying to trade, that had not had such close ties.
As it is, I would be ok with WTO and take it from there.

Wholymoley · 04/09/2018 21:28

jasjas
We should not copy any other country but make our own trading deal to suit both the UK and the EU.
We should also have much more freedom to trade out of the EU, which pleases me.

Buteo · 04/09/2018 21:37

Buffybee May’s self imposed “red lines” reduces the UK to a third country - no preferential deals. This is the UK’s decision, not the EU’s. Saying the WTO is OK shows a woeful lack of understanding as to where that leaves the UK in terms of world trade.

WTO doesn’t cover aviation or nuclear or services. Our customs and IT infrastructure can’t cope with third country status.

Nowhere in the world trades solely on WTO terms. We’d be fucked.

Buteo · 04/09/2018 21:45

We should also have much more freedom to trade out of the EU

China was Germany’s largest trading partner in 2017 - so what's stopping the UK from doing the same?

Moussemoose · 04/09/2018 21:51

How is our freedom to trade curtailed?

bellinisurge · 04/09/2018 21:59

Because we have to start from scratch with everyone to make trade deals. Everything we have now stems from our being part of a massive and wealthy bloc- the EU.
We have nothing substantive to offer potential trade partners other than "we're British " and "we used to be wealthy ".

bellinisurge · 04/09/2018 22:02

If you think WTO is ok, please watch "3Blokesinapub" on YouTube. At least two of them really know what they are talking about and the other is a foil for them. Even if you think Remainers are a bunch of unpatriotic scaremongers, please watch them.
