Is a No Deal exit really a possibility?

Is there really a risk of a No Deal for Britain leaving Europe or are they making it sound even more of an utter shambles (if that's possible), so that whatever deal we leave with won't be quite so bad in comparison?

So basically Ta1kin we definitely wouldn't be able to be like that any time soon Sad

Ta1kinpeace · 23/08/2018 21:56

If the U.K. stands united and firm we might actual get a deal
What sort of deal do you think the UK should aim for?

Jason118 · 23/08/2018 21:56

But are you 8?

Bearbehind · 23/08/2018 21:56

The German car manufacturers aren’t going to be very happy with AM when they can’t sell their cars in the UK

When will it sink in- they might not be 'happy' but they're not going to wipe out the pillars of the EU to avoid it.

WE'RE NOT THAT SPECIAL!

Rosstac · 23/08/2018 21:56

Jason118 Sales were over 20 Billion last year 2 out of every 7 cars made in Germany get exported to the U.K., a lot of business to lose

Vivalarevolution · 23/08/2018 21:58

Frequency yes bananas are imported but not from the EU. Win!

Vivalarevolution · 23/08/2018 21:58

Jason118 I'm not but I have my suspicions about you Wink

Ta1kinpeace · 23/08/2018 21:59

NOT TRUE

JWIM · 23/08/2018 21:59

German industry has said it stands in support of the EU and their own Government.

How many cars made in the UK are exported to the EU? Might we have a bigger loss of business to worry about?

LeftRightCentre · 23/08/2018 21:59

They'll get new business elsewhere. They hire people especially to secure that business. No one really needs us.

Frequency · 23/08/2018 21:59

Yes but Dover is going to grind to a standstill if we don't get a deal so we won't be able to import anything, from anywhere until we fix that.

Bearbehind · 23/08/2018 22:00

FFS - have you really not moved on from 'The German car industry needs us more than we need the EU'

It's pathetic.

And arrogant.

Jason118 · 23/08/2018 22:01

But we have no trade agreements with banana exporters - lose!

Ta1kinpeace · 23/08/2018 22:01

@Tokyosushi
If the UK is happy to accept a Norway / Swiss deal it could be done in weeks
but the Brexiteers are willing to bankrupt all of that to leave the single market

Jason118 · 23/08/2018 22:03

Apologies if I offended viva, I assumed too much maturitySmile

Hazardswan · 23/08/2018 22:04

Stand united and firm?

Scotland didn't vote for this, Nothern Ireland didn't vote for this, Gibraltar didn't vote for this.

England and Wales stood up against our own nation and betrayed it by triggering article 50.

Rosstac · 23/08/2018 22:04

Bearbehind They don’t have to wipe them out, just move them a little, we have been one of their biggest contributors and we are the EU second biggest export destination

Rosstac · 23/08/2018 22:07

JWIM That would be no, only high end desirable ones, but they export all over the world

Tanith · 23/08/2018 22:08

Given the recent performance of the pound, who's going to be able to afford all those cars the Germans are apparently so desperate to sell to us?

Jason118 · 23/08/2018 22:08

So, some free movement, a partial customs union, or what?ConfusedConfusedConfused

Rosstac · 23/08/2018 22:08

Bearbehind So any business is happy to lose 30% if it’s business overnight

Cattenberg · 23/08/2018 22:10

I'd rather the UK had a vote (and veto) in the EU, than was a puppet of the USA. It alarms me when Leavers talk as though we just need to evoke the spirit of the British Empire and the world will dance to our tune. The rest of the world has moved on.

Britain was once a small, insignificant island on the north-western fringe of Europe and we're gradually drifting back to that state. I wish we could go forward and embrace the inter-connected, inter-dependent world of the 21st century instead of always harking back to a mythical golden past.

Vivalarevolution · 23/08/2018 22:11

Jason118 thanks for the trolling but you are boring me now, yawn

JWIM · 23/08/2018 22:12

Rosstac we currently export many car brands manufactured in the UK to the EU. Nissan and Honda have already indicated their concerns about the UK leaving the EU and the negative financial consequences.

Ta1kinpeace · 23/08/2018 22:12

THe German car industry is not going to stop Barnier getting a deal that fits within EU law
