Do you think street parties, riots, candlelit vigils, what?

IdahoJones If they are carrying on with it, we must presume it’s not stupid

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 15:53

jasjas1973 I wished I’d know I had this much power I’d would of put a lot of other changes to this country, if only I knew I just had to tell the government and they would do as I say, They never normally listen when I’ve emailed them before

jasjas1973 · 21/08/2018 16:01

Rosst, you voted for it! so therefore you have to accept some responsibility in this, DC made it clear the decision would be respected and acted upon, you knew that at the time.
He didn't say "i'll go away and have think about it first"

I feel sure if it all goes really well, you wont be so shy in claiming your share of responsibility :)

bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 16:08

I can't afford to shop at Waitrose which doesn't mean I am particularly poor. I voted Remain as did my elderly mother. My nephew who shops at Booths (google it) voted Leave.
The uk is full of contradictions. But only fucking idiots voted Leave.

prettybird · 21/08/2018 16:09

Aaaaawwww - it would be sweet if it weren't so stupid naive Wink

Rosstac thinks that the politicians wouldn't be going ahead with Brexit if it were stupid Grin (Can't do the "tears of laughter" emoticon on my phone) Confused

Who is going to break it to her that They. Don't. Care? Shock Worse, that some of them stand to make shed loads of money from distaster capitalism and the fire sale of UK institutions. So they want this damn stupid thing done this damn stupid way. That they're putting party before country. That they don't care what happens on the island of Ireland. That they don't give a stuff about poor people.

That really is an example of naïveté on her part. Sad

JaneJeffer · 21/08/2018 16:16

Kay Burley will be hyper.

Ta1kinpeace · 21/08/2018 16:31

PPPPPP
Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance

The Millennium Bug was dealt with as a real risk and proper preparation meant that it all went OK.
But that took years of hard work by thousands of people.

Brexit was never thought out beforehand.
And is still not being prepared for
so the performance is likely to be piss poor.

Putin must be utterly delighted.

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 16:40

prettybird What the government will go ahead even if it causes as many of you say social unrest, possible riots , the collapse of the country, no food for them to eat, well I’m surprised

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 16:42

jasjas1973 I voted Labour in the last GE, I didn’t get what I wanted, who do I send my strongly worded email too ?

bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 16:44

@Rosstac - read your history books. The government carries on. It may be shit all over but it carries on. Even under martial law it carries on.

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 16:46

jasjas1973 I don’t remember DC saying we would have a second referendum or a people’s vote, but that hasn’t stopped people going on and on and on about it

bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 16:51

DC is history.

And there isn't enough time to organise a second vote.

That said, cobbling some sort of excuse like a new referendum or another GE might be enough to pause negotiations and buy us more time. Even if the outcome is the same because no fucker wants to admit they were wrong. Worth the gamble?

jasjas1973 · 21/08/2018 16:57

Rosstac that is a diversion and irrelevant.

You knew it would enacted, as i did, you just gave it soooo little thought.
Now you bleat on about all the injustices you ve apparently suffered as to why you voted leave.
Now you seek to blame the Tories just in-case it all goes wrong.

Ta1kinpeace · 21/08/2018 16:59

If there is a no deal Brexit, the sky will look different
because the airports will be shut Smile

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 16:59

bellinisurge That’s what I like, a remainer uses something DC as evidence, when a leaver mentions DC he’s history
There is not enough time for a 2nd ref, but what then would you accept it if it’s the same or best of 3 if it’s changed or do they set a mark, must be over 65% or so to remain or it will never end

PestymcPestFace · 21/08/2018 17:00

I think the financial markets will have a rough few weeks. There is always money to be made out of upheaval.

The rest depends on having a deal.
If we have a deal, we will have a transition period and maybe not much will change.
If we crash out no deal, who knows it could be a bit of a free for all. Probably be a bit messy.

What Do You Think Will Happen On Brexit Day?
bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 17:04

I'm a prepper @Rosstac . I would rather things didn't go badly but my concern for any Leave voters suffering because of it is zero. They literally brought any shit that happens down on the rest of us and all I can do is make sure my family is fed and warm. What a ridiculous thing to be realistically thinking about in the UK in 2018. All for some stupid notion of sovereignty. Which we already had.

Valanice1989 · 21/08/2018 17:04

Blame the government they could stop it and they shouldn’t have started it, they were given an answer they could have ignored it, if your young child asked for a real gun for Xmas you would still buy it for him with live bullets because that’s what they want or would you knowing better say no and explain why, won’t stop them wanting one will it

Are you serious, Rosstac? Leave voters aren't children. If you're old enough to vote, you're old enough to actually research what you're voting for.

Latest meaningless slogan to repeat is 'I haven't got a crystal ball'

I first heard the "crystal ball" line trotted out shortly after the referendum, Helmet.

AttilaTheMusical · 21/08/2018 17:11

They've already had two years with their heads stuck in the sand.
I genuinely believe that despite everything they all thought the brakes would be put on at the last minute, and the referendum would be overturned.
Well now they've been caught with their pants down.
And we are the ones who are going to suffer.

Rosstac · 21/08/2018 17:13

bellinisurge Why don’t you blame the government? We just gave an answer to a question, there might have been numerous reasons for people voting the way they did, the government did have to give us the vote ( yes rise of UKIP, DC campaign pledge) they could have set % levels of vote and turnout, they didn’t, they could have sold your opinion is noted, they could have prepared for a leave vote, decided what they wanted, hope to achieve before issuing A50, the list goes on and on, but no it’s the people who voted leave your upset with, why not the government, we had a general election you could have all voted LD to stop Brexit, but no 80% of people voted for parties that said they would leave the CU/SM, it’s just as much your fault

theunsure · 21/08/2018 17:13

It's my 41st birthday so I will be drunk and not care! My Birthday trumps all else.

I suppose I might have a Brexit party - sort of like Eurovision, but where we win.

I'd better stockpile cheap prosecco just in case...

I did vote Leave though

bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 17:16

@Rosstac - why should I blame the government. The referendum was clear - Leave or Remain. Vote Leave wins and everything that follows is on every idiot who voted for it.

bengalcat · 21/08/2018 17:18

Life will go on

midgesforever · 21/08/2018 17:26

Working on the assumption that the transition period will have been extended by that point I am thinking not much. If we truly have a no deal, who knows but at least I won't be in UK.

bellinisurge · 21/08/2018 17:31

@midgesforever there is only the possibility of a transition period if we have a deal in the first place. This two years since TM triggered A50 is the transition period. That's it.
